Just use your phone as you did before…

Someone analyzed this in another thread and iirc, Apple increased the screen resolution and with that change, you’re only losing 4 pixels worth of height in screen real estate due to the pill.

If you really don’t like the island , use a 14, 13, or SE. I’m sure the notch will be here for years to come since the SE is still using the 2014-2017 bezel/no notch design.

This place loses its mind over things the average consumer will never know exists. If the island isn’t for you, show it with your wallet and buy a different phone. If enough people do the same, it’ll go away. But I have a feeling that type of change is totally insignificant to the vast majority of consumers.

Honestly don’t even notice it until I need to look in that area and at that point it’s just the space where notch was

So the new pill shape notch is lower than the old notch, which means the effective area is smaller
I'm pretty sure that iPhone 14 Pro has more effective area than the 13 Pro. You're only looking at the vertical alignment of the pill, but it is still overall 30% smaller than the notch, which give more space for widgets as Apple did with Dynamic Island. The difference of alignment is so negligible, I don't believe that someone can notice the slight waste of space except it they are looking for it.

Anyway, you have the right to dislike this new design, but unfortunately, Apple will probably stick around this design until they can put everything under the screen

Like I just said on another thread. Notch,Dynamic Island these are you’re iPhone choices. Only other option is a Android based phone.

So if you want iOS. Currently there’s notch and dynamic island. Full stop, case closed.

I’m looking forward to what developers may do with the dynamic island and how other stock apps may change to use the DI.
