So the new pill shape notch is lower than the old notch, which means the effective area is smaller. The area above the pill is bigger than before but it is hard for any app to use it. How to deal with it?
The pill is horrendous. Didn't even notice the notch since it wasn't part of the screen. This is a bit dramatic isn’t it? Get used to it or go to a 13 or an android, that’s the only answer. The pill is much less annoying than the notch to me.
I can see why some people don’t like it but it’s really not a big deal. The pill is horrendous. Didn't even notice the notch since it wasn't part of the screen.
Just use your phone as you did before…
Someone analyzed this in another thread and iirc, Apple increased the screen resolution and with that change, you’re only losing 4 pixels worth of height in screen real estate due to the pill.
If you really don’t like the island , use a 14, 13, or SE. I’m sure the notch will be here for years to come since the SE is still using the 2014-2017 bezel/no notch design.

Not sure what you are trying to get at with this comparison. To me it’s showing that the calendar app is not impacted at all with the pill being slightly lower than the notch. Making it a non-issue.Are you sure

A real psychologistpsychologist just told me 14 pro series pill make the viewable area smaller
I'm pretty sure that iPhone 14 Pro has more effective area than the 13 Pro. You're only looking at the vertical alignment of the pill, but it is still overall 30% smaller than the notch, which give more space for widgets as Apple did with Dynamic Island. The difference of alignment is so negligible, I don't believe that someone can notice the slight waste of space except it they are looking for it.So the new pill shape notch is lower than the old notch, which means the effective area is smaller
