So, I have a new iPhone 17 Pro Max.

I have my 2015 MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey ver 12.7.6

I have my old iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 1515.8.8

I have the Apple application known as "Music" installed on my MacBook, installed on my old iPhone 7 Plus, and installed on my iPhone 17. My iPhone 7 has a copy of Music (along with music files) originating from the Mac Book Pro.

I how do I move (or copy that is) the music files stored in Music on my 2015 MacBook Pro to my new iPhone 17 Pro Max?

Previously I'd use a Lightning cable to accomplish this - when copying from the 2015 MacBook Pro to my iPhone 7 Plus - I'd connect the Lightning cable between the two devices. I think I pressed the sync button in Finder - or something - but I'm not there yet.

It's the same process, you'll just need a USB-A to C cable or A to C female adapter.
NB: I find that when you're not completely up to date on macOS (meaning Tahoe), Finder will pop up with a small, hard to miss window indicating the Mac requires an update in order to sync the phone. Go ahead and do that update.
