Surely most people like the extra screen space the notch gives them? I’m yet to fathom why some people want less screen space.

I don’t disagree. I appreciate the extra screen real estate, but then obviously you have the opposing argument from those on here who think the notch detracts away from the display. It’s never bothered me or anyone else I know outside Macrumors.

The notch is not an issue.

Unlike the camera bulge which has been growing like cancer since the iPhone 6. If pics are to be believed it's grown into a full on square now. In a couple of years it will cover the entire back of the phone.

This. The notch is something I personally can't believe people squawk about.

Camera bulges are becoming like tumors OTOH.

As it will be three years into the design, I’m expecting more posts on the stale design of the notch followed by questioning when an all-screen design will finally be released. (Yes, rumors currently state 2020, but it won’t be fact until it actually is released and many people aren’t living on here everyday to catch every rumor.)

The notch has always been a silly design - reminds of a receding hairline actually, but ‘notch’ is simpler. Regardless of it being out for 2 years and being copied by other companies (for a short time) and regardless of my ownership of a device with the notch, it was and still remains a silly design choice. I appreciate the OLED screen. I will always go for the iPhone with the larger screen due to personal preference, but none of that stops me from time to time noticing the notch, chuckling, and thinking, ‘Oh Apple, “Think Different” indeed’.

Buying the latest iPhone because you need a new device and plan on keeping it a few years, so purchasing the latest device would make a reasonable purchase choice, doesn’t stop a consumer from noticing oddities about the device or wishing the design was something different. Before the XR, people were requesting more phone colors. Before the X, people were requesting the bezels to be minimized like other manufacturers were offering. So just because the general consumer is purchasing a device with the notch (really? Is there a new release iPhone without one?) doesn’t mean they wouldn’t rather have something different. Price is superseding design for most consumers at this point anyway.
