That's really good. I WISH I could get that kind of battery life on my 5S. Are you in an area of good coverage? What do your settings look like (Background App Refresh, etc.)?

Yeah I always have 3 to 5 bars of LTE signal, I think that really helps. Background App Refresh off, auto brightness is about 20% up now. Wifi off when I'm not home, Cell data off when I am home. Fetch mail every 15 mins, and it has 7 charge cycles.

Just wondering. To those heavy gamers who play 3D games such as Dead Trigger 2 and Minion Rush (yes!), how long does your phones usually last?

Battery fine for me

Mine seems pretty good. I work in a concrete building all day and the phone is constantly looking for signals. Granted, I don't have much time to use my phone throughout the day other than maybe listen to podcasts and on the drive in and out.

By the end of the work day it's usually at around 72%, and near dead by the end of the night once I'm actually on it. For my purposes it lasts all day when I need to use it.

Yup, I charge at full 100% until drain to 1% thats all.
Actually thats may first charge when I get my phone.

But now, I used it for texting, wifi and games.

Remaining: 31%
Usage: 5 hours 47 minutes
Standby: 1 Day 9 hours

Pretty bad.

It's pretty good actually.

On my first charge (from %100 to %1) it only gave me 5:43 of usage (No cellular data just wifi, some gaming and social networking apps) and 16:14 of standby. Brightness at like 40% maximum.

I'll post my battery's life when it reaches 1% (after reducing motion effects, disabling most location services and turning off many background refresh apps).

I don't know if it will be able to complete a whole working day without needing a recharge or not. I will test that on Sunday.

I always set my brightness to 0% or 1% I think, to save battery life.
I notice when I used wifi and games, it drains the battery life too much.

By the way, is 7.0.4 update safe to download?
I have 7.0.2 currently installed.

Guys how much does your battery drain while in standby? I slept for 6 hours and it drained 7%. Isn't this too much? Only wifi was on, most location services are off and most background refreshing apps are off too.

7% seems a bit much. I slept for 8 hours and only lost 1%. Occasionally I'll lose more if the phone is under me or in my pocket and gets a little warm.

I'm curious about hoe everyone uses their phone in the context of screen brightness, auto lock time, keeping the screen on for music, ringer and vibration settings, notifications etc.

I've literally almost made it two days without charging. I'm on my phone quite a bit. I also use battery doctor to do the full charge cycle at least once a month, hell, my OG iPad still gets 10 hours a charge and my kids are on that thing all the time.

This is what I've got out of the last 3 charges, and you don't even wanna know what I'm at right now.

Then something is wrong with my battery. Draining a little over 1% with each hour of standby is a lot.

My iPhone just reached 1%:

It's pretty bad. As I previously said I turned off most location services, parallax effects and most background refresh apps. Brightness is around 35-40%. I never use 3G or LTE (always connected to just wifi for internet use).

Do you have a lot of apps installed? Might be an app, what about push or notifications settings. For me at one point it was Facebook, I had to delete it and reinstall and turn off notifications for it.

On the other hand you could just have a bad/crappy battery, it does happen. Went through 2 4s iPhones because of battery issues.

I don't keep any applications running in background. I always manually close them.

-----------

Is it ok to leave my iPhone charging overnight? I do that all the time with my iPad, so I guess it's the same with the iPhone.

My iPhone 5 gets around 4 hours of usage on average. I cannot believe I see so many complaining about 8 or more. I just ordered a replacement battery and plan to repair it myself. When it was new it only got about 6 hours of usage. (all I do is use facebook, twitter, safari, etc... no heavy apps such as 3D games)

Same, same! I get about 6 hours on Wi-Fi.

I don't understand how anyone is possibly achieving such high numbers? I'm assuming a ton of playing music with screen off or talking on the phone. I don't make many calls. I wish the iPhone had a "screen-on time" stat such as Android. It would really help me know just how well or badly my phone is performing.

All I really do on mine is "normal" things. iMessaging, Safari, sports apps, Reeder, iStudiez Pro. Nothing that would quickly drain the battery.

My latest, with wifi on all the time, social apps, games, and video call in WeChat in some minutes.

I don't know what it is but I've always had problems with the Facebook apps, even now that it isn't causing me any problems I'm always cautious to update it.

I'm on my phone quite a bit, but I don't really play any games. Lot of reading and streaming music and podcast, YouTube, and other media apps. A few calls here and there texting throughout the day. Photos etc.

Ringer: silent most or the time
Brightness: 20-40 auto
GPS: only on for a handful of apps/ iAds off
Wifi: always on
BT: only when needed/wanted
Notifications: only a handful show unless phone is unlocked/ no repeat as I check my phone often enough
Mail: push is only on for my professional account, fetch hourly everything else
Background refresh: handful of apps
Active apps: I always close anything I'm not using

I still think if your not getting at least 8-9 hours of reasonable/normal use something is wrong. On all my I devices if I don't get at least one hour for every 10% of normal use I look at taking it back if a fresh install or setup doesn't work.

Worst performance ever out of the current charge.... Down to 84% with about an hour and 20 usage. Minus one hour on the last cycle :(

Guys don't complain, I'm drooling.. I get 2hrs on screen time and 10 hrs standby time on my galaxy s3 and it's dead... I'd kill for over a day stand by and 10 hrs usage... My contract needs to be up sooner
