Well my way to solve it was: Attach my MX1000, and 2 clicked on something to turn it off. I can't remember what, but MS has to realise the endless prompts are out of control.

And no Control Click did not work for me. Only in OSX.

While Vista isn't earth shattering, this gives me a great option when I have PC stuff to run.

I am using someone elses key, will it shut me out in 14 days if I don't activate? Anyone willing to share a personal / valid key with me?

Shouldn't be a prob, as I'm pretty sure you can install the Beta 2 on up to 10 computers with the same key.

Just wait til Leopard

Unless you absolutely must have Vista right now, then wait til Leopard. For those of you needing to remap the function key for a right click, just get the same program you would use under XP, inputremapper. Ultimately it was a waste of time, was slow, and lacked features, oh and was a big waste of space without many real apps. Vista is just a huge slow mess.

I don't even think you can get Vista anymore.

The deadline for the beta was cut off a while ago. I know, I looked. I was going to burn a copy (just to have it of course) ;).

Flip 3D, from the pictures I've seen, seems extremely lame in its graphical quality... why do make something 3D that works better 2D (Exposé)?
Live thumbnails not updating when minimized... wow, that is pathetic.

Windows Vista is such a major disappointment and a resource hog.

Technically, Aeroglass should work, as the integrated graphics card in the MacBook meets Vista's requirements. Can anyone confirm this?

live thumbnails do update when minimized, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. I just opened two videos and played them both minimized....when you hover over them in the taskbar the preview is running at 100% speed. They're also moving with Flip 3D or when task-switching.

and as for Flip 3D, it may not appeal to you, but it looks pretty great on my PC...it's anti-aliased and alpha-shaded like everything else in vista. Mayhaps your graphics hardware isn't sufficient? My 6600 renders all of the visual options 100% as far as I can tell...complain about any number of things in vista, but you can't complain about it's graphical prowess...very slick. My dual G5 has a very hard time rendering Aperture "effects" and Dashboard animation. both are notably choppy at best...

32 or 64 bit Vista?

Hi there,

Does anyone know which version of Vista I should be downloading for a MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Core2 Duo?

I'm guessing it's the 32-bit version, but I'm not sure.

Thx

I believe you can download the 64Bit version!

I've got to say that i'm dissapointed with Vista though. When everyone else was going on about how it's basically a facelift for XP I thought they were being fanbois, but seriously - it's a theme for XP - nothing groundbreaking here - and it's a real system hog. Unnecessarily so. Bad Bad Bad!

The 32bit version unless you want headaches and performance decrease. The x64 version of Windows is horrible.

Oh well, there you go!

That more than clarifies my problems with it.

Fancy that - five years for all this? It's no wonder it was delayed so many times. I can't believe a comany with the R&D that Microsoft has can push the boundaries in...no way at all.

I've just installed Vista RC2 on My MacBook and installation was very easy, no messing around at all. I allocated 25GB in Bootcamp (v1.1.1) for Vista and then inserted the Vista DVD. After it rebooted and started the vista setup I could see the partition it had created which was not suitable (was FAT32 not NTFS) so I deleted it and created a new one. Vista still didn't like this so I rebooted the computer. When the setup started again it accepted the partition with no problem and fully installed.

Vista seems to come with drivers for the wireless, graphics and ethernet. Extracting the bootcamp driver CD game me partial Apple Keyboard support, right-click, brightness control and sound. iSight is detected and installed with the bootcamp driver but it doesn't function under Vista RC2, also bluetooth doesn't seem to be detected or installed.

I am fairly happy with it, it runs better on my MacBook than it did on my Desktop, probably due to the 2GB of RAM.

My previous instructions are no longer needed with the release of Vista RC1 (Build 5600).

Vista can now be installed just like XP with the exception of drivers.

I know this is extremely dump for me to ask, but the driver disk created by bootcamp is for XP not for Vista, right? So where can I find driver for Vista? On the Windows update website?

Also, when deleting the 200MB partition, do you only need to select it and 'move to trash'? or there's some procedure that I should follow?

Sorry for those simple questions, pardon me for being a new MBP owner and fan.

I read through the whole thread but could not find more specific instructions on how to use the same driver disk to install Vista on my MBP. Can you help me more / be more specific on where I can find the instructions?

Also seems like one of the thread contrubutor could install Vista and just have it automatically use its driver library, is that the case?
