I just watched a proper thorough review of the phone and i'm actually considering getting it just to play with and see whats up but the lag/chin still bug me

This might be a helpful tip: Apparently switching to a Class 6 microSD card instead of using the default Class 4 HTC ship with the device speed things up considerably

I have read the same. Looking at the stats, there shouldn't be a reason for it to run slowly. I read that the firmware has a bit of a problem with slowdowns for read/write functions on the SD. Class 6 is the best bet for now I suppose, but hopefully they do something to fix the issue all together.

Android has great potential but it's just full of bugs. You can see how ****** and slow it is in that CNET video, and that's brand new. My G1 felt like it was possessed after a few weeks lol

work fine for me .. no bugs so far no problem at all.. depends what kind of SD card is used in HTC hero....

My hero arrived this morning and I've been playing with it all day and I'm in fact typing this on it. It's pretty much as the reviewers said. It's by far the best Android phone out there and is a very valiant effort by HTC

However it needs some polishing and better hardware. The device is buggy and the weak/old CPU doesn't help matters. It struggles with multimedia (no hardware acceleration) and as a result can't stand next to the iPhone at all in that regard

Hardware wise (case) its solidly built and is superior to the iphone. I'm still on the fence on whether to keep it, as it stands, it, along with the pre are the best iPhone alternatives out there but I've been spoilt by the speed of the 3GS

WOW your late!:p

I guess if you're a type of phone user with ADHD, and would rather have flashy graphics over usability, this is the perfect phone for you. The interface looks different, but is incredibly cluttered. Great if you want to show off awesome graphics, but unlike the commentary, it doesn't look intuitive to me at all.

It's also stutters like crazy.

Unrelated, but that back cover looks incredibly cheap and flimsy.

Yeah, a full 1 frame every 2 seconds. Wonderful...

I think Android could potentially be great if a vendor other than HTC made the hardware. They just aren't good at it. And Adobe really needs to do something about the CPU-intensive nature of Flash if they truly expect to be a mobile-ready platform. Even on an iMac with a 2.3GHz core duo processor, the CPU chugs when trying to play flash videos. That's just poor programming on Adobe's part, yet they refuse to understand why phone makers don't put Flash in their handsets.

...and this isn't

It's also stutters like crazy.

So did the iPhone 3G when it launched its first build 2.0 OS

Finicky to put on and off yes but not flimsy as to break/crack easily compared to a certain...other phone

No arguments here, Flash on a mobile phone is currently a waste of time

Agreed about Adobe/Flash but HTC do make good hardware they just seem to want to exhaust their Qualcomm CPU supply at the moment. *Shrug*

based on the multitasking, the HTC is way better. It is true, the Iphone is just for kids. Not fully online. Playing games and stuff.. Not for business . Staying online 24/7. HTC deliveres the most.

at business point of view you have to have i tunes at ur work server or laptops ..

well its matter of choice...

again iPhone is bad A**S but the amount of restriction apple have applied its just not right... the OS is great..

one thing is i dont understand what took America so long to bring all the missing features now when in Europe we already have for the last 10 years?

What are you talking about? All the missing features on one phone (iphone) or missing features from all US phones?

Edit: Give me an example of phone coming out of Europe I wouldn't mind keeping for two years with the same form factor as the iphone. I want to do a comparison and don't know of anything from Europe Remember, the phone can't be a brick.

-customizable home screen with widgets.. this i would like as now i feel my iphone is just several screens with grids of icons..

Well, that could be because it is. That's just my guess though. Don't take my word for it. That wasn't funny, was it? Anyway, I can't stand the dead, dull, dark, and depressing home screen of the iPhone/iPod Touch. Can Apple really do that bad? Mac OS is the exact opposite, with bright colors and backgrounds and stuff. Considering the home screen is one of the, if not the, most used screen in the whole OS, Apple just destroyed the whole OS, IMO, with that horrendous pile of icons.

There are so many companies going to the iPhone. I have 2 friends who's company now switched to the iPhone for business use. I can use my iPhone for work if I want too and when I have it works 100 times better than the crap work phone that I have. To say the iPhone is for kids, well IMO you're trying to act like you're better than everyone just because you got something new.
Samsung is not a brand I care about for cell phones, but Android does look nice. Time will tell how it holds up.
I think Google is coming in with a vengeance and they are taking names. I think they will be good competition for Apple.

I am glad to here that there are compaines that are using iphone for business, but for large corps, the iphone is out, its not ready for prime time. Keyword - Security.

The best part about your post is your signature. I wish your post was out right now.

These are big corporations and one of them is Level 3 Communications. HSBC is another company that started to use iPhones, and you also have a lot of doctors using them.
