Ok, I'm tired and I'll add on to this thread as I go but as promised this is the thread announcing my return to Android.

Firstly, let me say the only reason, (well two) that I decided to stray from iOS, at least for my phone selection is that 1. I'm Bored 2. The rumored iPhone is a little uninspiring.

So, now that you know the why, let me tell you about the what.

I initially wanted the 1X when I felt the Android bug welling up in me again. However, what happened is that when I went to investigate, my cousins wife, who happens to work at the AT&T store that I stopped by had the GS3 as her personal phone.

She got to showing me all the gee whiz bang features and needless to say that with her brief demo and all the hype surrounding the device I was hooked (or so I thought).

Forward 2.5 weeks later and I return the GS3 because battery SUCKS, also, I came to realize I don't like Amoled, I don't like Samsung hardware/software nor their take on Android.

Dejected, I resorted back to the all too comfortable thought that I'll just go back to the iPhone and iOS; after all, they're superior right!?

Not so fast; I FULLY went back to the store with the thought of repurchasing an iPhone 4S (I had just given the my current one to the wife). So I start dicking around and looking at other phones, knowing full well that in a few moments I'll be leaving with the new iPhone 4S. But, when I walked over to take one more gander of the iPhone 4S before I repurchased it, it hit me from looking at the compact, icon cluttered screen... I didn't want that experience anymore; at least not right now.

Thus, I started playing with the 1X and it just felt right. Plus, with the phone only $99.00 and me having a $50.00 Freedom coupon from Best Buy, it just seemed like a no brainier... Thus I bought the 1X!!!

Initial impressions for me, being that aesthics are as important as internals is that this phone SMOKES the GS3.

You're talking about Fisher Price (Samsung) vs. Tonka (HTC).

The build quality is no competition and Sense makes Touch Whiz look like Cheese Whiz.

What about my number one complaint on the GS3 (battery)!?

The 1X battery runs circles around that of the GS3.

I'll elaborate as the thread goes on but initial impressions are that the 1X will KEEP me on Android, whereas the GS3 was about to have me running for the hills.

It's CRAZY the difference an interpretation of the same subject can make.

Thank you HTC for this MARVELOUS device I will beat the war drum everywhere I go and to everyone who will listen.

Conversely, I'll do the same for the GS3 but with negative connotation.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
The only downside for me is the limited storage. I don't have a ton of media but I do download quite a few roms and with the average size anywhere between 200-500mb, it can add up pretty quickly. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the One X. In my opinion it's the best android phone on the market.

And if you root and install CleanROM 4.5, the battery gets so much better - while losing the AT&T bloat and keeping Sense.

Glad you found a phone that suits you and your needs. I did briefly consider the HTC One V, but a bad experience with HTC in my past made me too reluctant.

I don't blame you. I had a bad experience with Samsung in the past, that's why I would probably never own another's samsung device except for maybe the Nexus line.

I wish HTC would bring back their G series (vanilla android) . Those were definitely the easiest phones to mod.

I remember when people thought Sense was android.

How Samsung has weasled their way into the hearts of millions... I have no idea.

I do love how Apple is raking them over the coals currently at trial.

Samsung, is a blatant copy'cat artist whose designs are NOT very inspiring.

Anywho, HTC is in the building and hopefully they'll be able reclaim former glory, sooner rather than later.

Do you see them going after HTC as hard!?

Last I checked HTC has been losing money and having poor sales, whereas Samsung is booming, leading to iPhone losing part of it's marketshare to Android. Samsung are the "big fish" so to speak, so it is only natural that Apple would go hard on them to try and ban their products.

This is the ole clique within clique routine.

Hey if you think that Samsung is the best Android OEM then hey good for you; clearly you have the Android masses backing you.

However, I tend to think that those of us with HTC or another Android OEM are the Android purist.

I mean it PLAIN to anyone that Samsung is just a big copycat with inferior hardware trying to play Apple in the world of Android.

To me Samsung doesn't represent the essence of Android but are just using the platform as a weapon against Apple.

By that I mean, they don't really care about Andrioid but merely only want to copy Apple.

I already stated my opinion in the OP.

This is an HTC thread primarily, if you'd like to join the other SG3 sheep, there are plenty of other threads for that already.

Glad you got what you wanted. That's one thing I like about Android - there's always a phone out there to match your needs. I looked at the same phone before I went with the S3. Have had many HTC phones before and liked them but the extra storage on the S3 tipped me.

Enjoy it.

A guy I work with has the One X and it's a really nice phone. I prefer sense over touchwhiz. If something like the One X came to Verizon I'd take a hard look at it.

I ve tried to swich from iphone 4 to one x two times but i got unlucky n both devices came with the problem in the screen.
If u pres hard around the edges all the color of the screen gets blury and its like inc goes to all the screen.
So i had to return both..
But if new iphone is as rumored i ll try again as i ve heard now that that problem was only in the devices that where produced the first month of production.

Plus i love the desighn i think its so beautifull

People do move from the iPhone and prefer it don't you know? ;)

HTC G1
Motorola Droid
HTC Nexus One
Samsung Nexus S
Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Those are the purists phones IMO.

Most Android phones suck for battery life out of the box, you just need to learn to optimise them. I'm sure the one x can be optimised to get even better battery life.

My S3 sucked out of the box too, but now it has over 50% left over at the end of the day...I hardly ever need it to last that long.

Inferior hardware? You mean the chipsets that go into the other Android and Apple products?

HTC is in financial dire straights. They had a 60% profit drop after Q2 and expect lower numbers for Q3. Their shares are falling, and have pulled manufacturing out of South Korea because of them getting killed there by Samsung where shares there went down to a single point. Their best business is here in the USA where as of earlier this month, they held a 14% marketshare.

And actually, HTC has recently dropped the lawsuit they put up against Apple.

Im not bashing HTC in any way. I like their products. I just think they need to have a MicroSDslot and they are well built. I just got a HTC Radar which is a Windows phone.

 So you dont like Samsung...who cares! IMO the battery on the S3 is good. If you disable some bloatware like ChatOn, S Suggest, and carrier BS, it is even better. Oh well, the One X is nice too.
