the current best foldable phone implementation. The Huawei Mate X looks stunning. If it's priced right I'm going to get one. What do you guys think about it. The Samsung Galaxy Fold is ugly when you see this.

That looks amazing.
Kind of underlines my point about the Galaxy Fold's outside display looking pretty bad with the bezels when you see these pictures in comparison. This design looks more pleasing to my eyes.

Innovation at its finest!

6.6" normal screen though - it's too big for mine.

Manufacturers need to start off with a small screen equivalent to what people consider a user-friendly size today, which for the majority is 5.8", bezel-less.

I think they need to aim toward making a one-handed phone unfold to a mini tablet, not a tablet folding into a single screen. The base-line/foundation should be to appeal to the average sized hands first.

That’s what you want. I don’t. I like the Huawei implementation. Big screen in normal view and a mini tablet screen when unfolded.

Really like the design. I had the chance to switch to the Mate 20 Pro but while that was good and frankly better than the iPhone X I am using, it wasn't good enough to get me to ditch the Apple ecosystem. However if the price for this is reasonable (hoping for ~$1500), I will give it a shot.

edit: 2300 Euros, OUCH.

That looks fantastic. I don't like the grab bar, that thicker portion on one side, at all though. I'd be concerned about scratching though, unless they invent a bendable screen protector. But even then that plastic screen looks like it can be poked pretty easily. It's better than Samsung's design, but much more prone to damage.

There is indeed a case, but it seems nobody took pics of it
They showcased the case twice.

Terrific for a 1st gen device!
Only time will tell if the Chinese are able to sustain the recent, explosive pace of innovation but after years of iterative improvements and exponential price rises, 2019 is such a welcome relief!!

Very impressed and much better looking than the Samsung Fold. Cannot afford one nor would I buy it as tied in Apple Eco system. However, I can see such a phone/tablet becoming very popular when the costs are slashed and I would buy one if Apple had a foldable phone.

They showed the Samsung how it should be done! This is how foldable phone shall look like, not that disgrace from Samsung!

Nice work! Quit spying, make your own OS which is not in any way based on Android, and you will get me interested. ;)

This REALLY puts into perspective how much better the Mate X is, the Samsung looks like a rejected prototype next to the Mate

Mate looks more like a 2nd Generation of what Samsung was trying to do:

I've come to the conclusion after this that Huawei really seem to be the company to beat from here on. Top it off with 55W Supercharging, and the Mate X also has Memory Expansion over the 512GB internal memory as well as 5G.

When open, yes. Backside looks bad closed. And the screen ripples at the bend, which isn’t apparent from all the images but would likely drive me nuts. Still much better than Samsung.

It looks nice but I think the folded part is too big and the orientation of the fold doesn’t look right.

Looks wise it looks better than the Samsung fold but in terms practical use, galaxy fold is better.
