After what feels like a long time, the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are officially official. :p

Three camera rumour was indeed correct. Exclusively to the Pro version though, with the regular P20 just getting a dual camera set up.

One thing that impressed me is the 24 megapixel front facing camera!!

That's a lot of megapixels!

And lol - there's an option to hide the notch...

Looks interesting.
I mean, it's EMUI - so I am out. But nice to see them pushing some creativity with the camera. :)
But then losing all the creative points by ripping off the notch. *shakes head

yeah, no EMUI for me but with the AOSP roms coming around for Project Treble devices, it doesn't seem too far fetched (or hard) to get this running stock Android (that is, if it ships with Project Treble enabled).

and that camera... DXO Mark score of 109 (yes, taken with a grain of salt IMO). 3 sensors. Will be interesting to see real world results. Needless to say, DXO Mark is really impressed.
We are used to every new smartphone camera generation being slightly better than the previous one, but looking at the images and test results from the P20 Pro, it seems Huawei has skipped one or two generations. The results are simply that good. The P20 Pro’s triple camera setup is the biggest innovation we have seen in mobile imaging for quite some time and is a real game changer.

Well at least they are willing to hide the notch. It looks beautiful. It has something that looks like a headphone jack, but I’m guessing that’s an IR blaster or something else. I’ll need to look it up.

Sadly, it’s not really an option in the US. I don’t know if the threat claimed by our intelligence agencies are real, perceived, or a political invention. I can’t say I like the tone their CEO takes. He often speaks of entering our market as if he’s trying to conduct an invasion or conquer us or something. Someone else posted elsewhere he was formerly some big shot in the Chinese military. Maybe that is what has our politicos all defensive.

It’s a shame, in a less troubled world this would be a lovely option.

Bloody nora.

I did not need to see this stock image of it.

Talk about beauty!

That wallpaper too. Drool.

I mean, some of those camera samples from DXO Mark are absolutely stunning, particularly in lower light.
Game changer indeed.

There are a lot to like especially the catchy gradient color scheme but that notch even if it's smaller and shows more useful info.

Seems odd to have the notch but still have that big bottom bezel with the button. If you're gonna copy Apple go all the way with it man.

Fingerprint scanner, smaller notch, better camera, smarter AI and nicer color options compared to iPhone X.

I tried watching 15 minutes of the presentation live, it was truly abysmal - I felt sorry for all the people who worked so hard on it, and have it presented so dreadfully.

But the device itself looks fantastic in multiple ways, I caught a few hands-on videos and they all seem initially impressed.

Definitely an interesting take but worth noting the Pro has a bigger battery, has the third camera too. I think it costs £799 in the UK and launches on April 6th. (No headphone jack though).

It will shake up the Samsung S9 march a bit, perhaps.

Beautiful looking phone! Not a fan of the EMUI skin tbh. But a launcher like Nova kinda cures that.
Great camera! No wireless charging and no SD Card. The batteries are huge too! Should get great battery life :)

£600 for the P20 & £800 for the P20 Pro with a free pair of Bose QC 35 II at Carphone Warehouse in the UK. Doesn't seem a bad deal to me.

Yeah apparently those headphones are like £350 in the UK, which is a pretty good preorder deal.
CPW seem to be doing well with their pre-order bonuses lately!

I still won't buy the phone, but it's great to see it being received well and that the triple camera setup is actually able to produce some amazing results, and not just a gimmick.

A friend of mine works for o2 and says he thinks there should be a P20 Pro in his store tomorrow.
I’m off work, so I’m going down if they have it in just to get a hands on. Be rude not too. :D

Now this Huawei Mate RS is much closer to the ideal device with in-screen fingerprint so you can unlock it when on a table, rear fingerprint for unlocking when pulling out of pocket, up to 512GB internal storage, centered non-protruding back camera sensors and no notch. Only thing it needs is dual front-facing speakers.

That phone is my goddess. Oh Apple why couldn’t you have given us two fingerprint scanners and three camera lenses and a pony? :p

Ah well, I am happy with my S9+. It has the headphone jack. That’s what I wanted...old technology that just works.

The Porsche doesn’t seem to have that neat two toned color job, though. That’s what I thought was interesting about the new Huawei phones.

It’s a shame these phones are effectively banned in the US. We need something like this to shake up Apple and Samsung a little. Ah well those prices, though. Yikes.

I'd categorize that as fake news from a local competitor since Best Buy still lists a bunch of Huawei models. Huawei is a direct threat to Apple but not at the level of Samsung. Wouldn't be surprised that by the end of 2018 the rankings will be #1 Samsung, #2 Huawei and #3 Apple.

I thought there was a recent article saying they are going to stop, though.

Ah, found it.
