They’re former Apple designers, right? At least they tried to make something new. They just didn’t succeed.

Does anyone know of any products the Ive’s era designers have created? The only thing I know from LoveFrom is the King Charles crest, a $60k turntable, and a red nose.

Yeah, and like Ive and his entire team: they are a bunch of wankers.

Ive and his team without Jobs were a bunch of bumbling idiots that destroyed Apple hardware for a good decade, and effed the UI experience that Forstall had created.
Things are slowly getting back on track now in hardware, thanks to Ternus. And I have hopes iOS 18 will show a return to sense behind the UI.

How is that company going to survive? Nobody can be stupid enough to buy this. These useless devices will be in a landfill within a year.

This device was a dumpster fire from day one. The very definition of a device that doesn't do anything that isn't already being done with something you already have.
Hey, the smartphone you already have can't project a barely-usable laser display onto your hand.

I mean, if you ignore the actual, regular screen your phone has, that's technically something a device you already have doesn't do.

I guess you can also add "burst into flames" to the list now.

I am so tired of hearing the phrase "dumpster fire", but I guess here it is warranted. 👀

2 months subscription alone will not be a good way to retain the customers. Overall the product is not a good one.

I'm not sure what's more embarrassing. This fire risk issue or the fact that the company is for sale and that it's valued itself between $750 million and $1 Billion Dollars.

This product has to be the biggest tech fail in year (or maybe even ever?).

The early PDA era and the Gizmondo and Nokia N-Gage era had a lot of this type of tech fails. Companies trying to jump on the newest bandwagon and failing with really bad designs and software.

Reminds me of a Munich based company that developed a wall socket IoT AC switch but failed to securely connect the PE (protective earth) contact. Had a major product callback and went bankrupt.

This type of product is called “intelligence tax”. Anyways, it only catches fire, not explosion

That's magnificent! Can you imagine how you'd feel if you had proudly bought one of those stupid things? It's hard for them to keep blaming MKBHD for low sales now this thing randomly catches fire (I assume it does - I admit I cannot be bothered to read the article).

I know people are ******** on this thing, and rightfully so in many cases, but I do think it's a noble idea to try and make a device that attempts to give you what you need from a smart phone without having a screen stuck in your face.

I feel like we'll see similar successful devices down the road.

The thing that gets me is that they are trying to find a buyer for $1B. I guess if you can’t sell the product, you try to sell the company.

I think this is the explicit goal of many SV startups. Get enough buzz so somebody will buy you out. This is how Mark Cuban became a billionaire, for example

MK or not the result would have been the same. It's unavoidable when a device is so stupid. Same goes for the Rabbit thing. As much as I like Teenage Engineering's experimental designs they're still going to vanish in thin air in a few years because they will run out of gimmicks and people will get bored of it.
