Those who don’t know or question what the OP is saying doesn’t know about or recall the below. And i agree… Apple has seemingly become what it originally implied it was set out to destroy.

Think Different. People.

So don’t trust modern Apple marketing. But that one time they placed a multimillion dollar ad in the Super Bowl? That was a window into the company’s soul.

Everything is horrible these days. Windows? 7 was the last amazing Windows. 10 and now 11 have very very very VERY MAJOR issues. Adobe? Perpetual CS4 and CS5 were the best. CS6 and Creative Cloud is what started the downfall for Adobe for me. I hate hate HATE their software now. And I purchased the upgrades EVERY YEAR previously. I use Affinity as much as possible now. Gaming? Downhill for years, rushed to market and patched later attitude. macOS while has went downhill a bit is still a much better experience for me than Windows has been lately. OMG my 10700k and 3080 Ti 128GB of RAM Windows PC has some major issues at times its so frustrating.

Seriously, I used to read/watch/listen and do anything tech related for YEARS. I have been losing interest for a long time because every new thing is more frustrating that what it replaces now.
Hard agree. The decline began around 2012, I think.

Yeah, actually I did know about the advertisement before I disagreed with OP.

The advertisement was an effective little bit of melodrama that sold a lot of computers. It never constituted Apple's actual business plan.
No, the business plan is for the bankers… and should remain there. The image Apple wants to project for itself is sold to the potential customers… and as it stands today, the general public seemingly has been sold on a bill of goods not representing the imagine they have instructed PR to build for them, going all the way back to then, which was phenomenally accurate Of how things were and direction we were headed… but even to this day where they want to be projected in having a protective duty to its customers for their data and privacy; when if the onion is peeled back you see the exact opposite of the pedestal PR is trying to keep Apple on. It’s all a mirage… and very much a misrepresentation. Their quality of work and product dependability has diminished by so much they are no longer justifiably called “high quality“… and industry leaders, and its a shame. They haven’t adjusted their pricing to reflect the diminishing value of what they are selling either… and that’s even a bigger shame, because that reflects Apples core values… and its once very respectable reputation has paid a huge price.

Man it always brings me great joy to see people who obsess over a billion dollar corporation have their reality crumble before them. Back when I was a Mac hater during the Mac vs PC arguments it was delicious to see the fanboys have existential dread when bad news came.

Though nowadays my drug addiction is Playstation fanboy salt. That stuff just hits harder. They're still malding over Spider-Man getting a PC port, to the point one guy sawed his limited edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro in half.

That is hilarious!
And in case you don't believe me about that fanboy sawing his PS4 Pro in half because more people get to play a great game:

Airdrop... just use something like Dropbox.
There are exporters for Apple Notes. Or, you can just access all your notes, documents, photos, etc. by logging onto iCloud website.
Keychain passwords are available on Windows now.

Obviously there will be more bumps in the road if you choose to segregate your experience across a range of platforms owned by different companies. You'll always be happier if you go all in with Apple, and I think that's a good thing.
Thanks for you tips! Unfortunately I have to use both systems. I would prefer just to be on the Mac. But I was surprised how hard Apple makes it. I had to get a new monitor, new audio interface,… and have to live with workarounds like Dropbox instead of airdrop. But I’m searching now for the Apple notes exporter. Thanks so much for this!! Hope it’s not gonna be banned from the App Store soon 😉

I feel the same. I got a PC last year as a second computer because I wanted to use some programs that are PC only. I noticed only then how hard Apple is with its Eco system. Thunderbolt license, Airdrop, no Export from Apple notes, so much more. It’s really hard to escape or use something else. And now that people are deep into it they can start selling ads.
Your data is as portable as you want it to be. I can move mine to Linux or Windows tomorrow if I want to. Yes, if you don’t choose the apps you store your data in wisely you may have to work a bit harder to move it, but thats on you.

It’s painful to watch Apple lose touch and become a profit-obsessed monopoly just like the rest of Big Tech. What happened to the magic?
One thing that is definitely true is that quality control at Apple keeps getting worse. New updates all the time, fixes for the updates, fixes for the fixes. This was Microsoft's reputation that originally Apple wanted to avoid.

To those who complain Apple is in it for the money, you are correct. They are a public traded company whose fiduciary responsibility to the stock holders (of which I am one) is to make a profit. With these profits they pay taxes, pay thousands of employees, build beautiful stores and a magnificent Corp head quarters (and all the contractors and suppliers) and still have a market cap of 2.7 Trillion dollars. By the same token, it took the genius and vision of Steve Jobs to give Apple it’s purpose. They are not destroying anything, they are expanding.

I don't know if I should laugh or be disturbed at the fact that this thread is going on for three pages.

I've heard of people developing parasocial relationships with celebrities or influencers. I've never seen a parasocial relationship with the concept of an ideal state a company used to be in (but in reality never was).

Jobs was notoriously selfish and money driven. Look up Daniel Kottke's story. No need to re-write history. Jobs outwardly appeared to not care about money later in life because the reality is by then he had a whole lot of it, enough for hundreds of lifetimes.

Anybody that thinks a for profit company is somehow a savior to the masses is highly delusional. Not sure where the narrative came from that companies such as Apple or Tesla are here to save the world come from. Companies, like politicians, will tell you what you want to hear then blur the lines down the road while still trying to maintain your support. How long they can sustain it for is a different story.
Wow, that hurts my narrative. I always think of Apple as "I love my Apple. God bless Apple and their support of my privacy and freedom. Microsoft and Google are bad. I am voting with my wallet for Apple all the way in 2023. Defund the open source."

Apple isn't the only one to make phones, tablets, and computers so they're not a monopoly. Other companies sell less expensive hardware & thusly make less profit share than Apple. The market decides what is valuable & what is best. The market has largely chosen Windows & Android based on the software distribution numbers. So why do you go down the road of this flawed line of thinking?

Can't agree - software is complex and I am happy both Apple and MS keep on top of things especially concerning malware.

Bound by shareholder investments possibly, but there are plenty of companies that swindle too. There’s a law for ROI? Guess I’d better start making phone calls 😆
Good point. It's not as though Apple is, or ever was, an Enron, Theranos, Dynergy, Tyco, Worldcom, etc. They have built a wonderful business that should be (as is) greatly admired.

Thanks for your reply! I would appreciate if you could share some details how you do it. What apps to use… Thank you 🙏

1@@@‘s comment re: the 1984 ad being an “effective little bit of melodrama that sold a lot of computers” seems to sum it up best for me. The OP‘s lack of replies after starting this thread with its similar “melodrama” word choice in the title says a lot. What did they set out to destroy? Sure they have often had some posturing in their marketing over the years that they are different, they “think different,” they protect your privacy or value creativity more than others, etc. but there’s nothing iconoclastic or ”destroying” about the company… they often make decent stuff, that I enjoy, meanwhile they also check most boxes in the list of attributes of every insatiable profit-driven, capitalist slave-labor-based, etc. huge corporation.

just my humble opinion!

They aren’t legally obligated to maximize profits for the shareholders, I don’t know why people keep spreading that lie.
