I've turned off "Featured" in the site settings so I don't have these threads in my field of vision anymore. That few? These clickbait threads come out of the woodwork whenever there’s any sort of Apple announcement. Heck, they probably happen when Apple announces its quarterly earnings!
And inevitably, they make their way to the trending bar on the homepage of MacRumors. Hot takes and absurd positions likely to get a lot of attention, likely born from trolling, pedantry, or a need for a dopamine rush from having a thread blow up and getting tons of notifications. And, when I’m active on the forum, I often see them there and get suckered into them. Ah, the life of a recovering internet addict… (I for one admit it, a lot of other people really need to take stock of their own internet usage and recognize it for the addiction it is.)
There are some decent threads on these forums, but seeing the junk that rises to the top is a big turn-off.
You're not so wrong about the addiction...
