No, mine has been 100% stable, nor do believe my Surface Book is unique or special in any manner; the early ones had issues with software that MicroSoft fixed. As to whether the hard hardware tweaked is unknown. Same with Apple when they release a new MBP their is frequently issue the first 6-12 months.

Q-6

When I had an issue with my surface pro 3 microsoft just sent me a new one and I returned mine to them

I was surprised how good they were tbh

Microsoft certainly doesn't have the footprint that Apple has for stores etc. however they do come across as making a concerted efforts with quality and support. I just registered my Surface Book with Microsoft 2 years international warranty, nor is is a legal requirement of the country I am currently based in.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Here's another reason to buy the Surface Book, Lisa from Mobile Tech Review says the new MacBook Pros are not really for professionals..

She doesn't think the Touch Bar is useful and as I suspected, the performance jump from last years model is almost negligible. And the design isn't very good either with sharp edges due to the fan and speaker holes.

To me a professional tailors his or her hardware to their needs, therefore I believe that the 2016 MBP will work for many, equally Apple`s focus on the aesthetic has resulted in too much compromise for some including myself, especially depreciating the battery to such a large extent for the sake of just a few millimetres.

I also very much agree with Lisa`s comments regarding the Touch Bar and Touch Screens, Apple have painted "themselves into a corner" with that one.

I like her reviews but she did not compare it's performance with it's rivals so came from a personal perspective. It was initial view only. The 2016 MBP in a lot of reviews clearly states the MPB 2016 blows away the 2015 MPB in terms of performance. Would like to see how it compares to Microsoft Surface book 2016 in terms of real world performance. The touch bar also has come in for praise from a lot of other reviewers and quickens the workflow for them. However, I have seen some like Lisa say it is struggling due to lack of app support, but that will come in time.

My review of the Surface Book 2016 Performance Base!

I apologize ahead of time for the random crappy voice over audio. Just realized that my recording device has some issues. I don't have fancy equipment like other YouTubers!

Anyway, in short - the Surface Book 2016 is awesome and is the best hybrid device money can buy. Just keep in mind the Surface Book 2 with Kaby Lake, USB-C and a better Nividia video card is not too far away!

The surface studio is really impressive:

If this was an apple product, people would be going crazy.

What a statement by Microsoft.

Serious question: how is windows these days?

All the above?

Are viruses still a problem? Is frequent scanning needed like it used to be?
Yes and yes though Windows 10 defender and Malwarebytes handle it in the backround for me. No system is safe now. Though Mac users still live in a bubble of deniability about how fast Macs are hacked at the various hacker competitions. What really kept Macs safe was the relatively invisibility because of low numbers vs Windows installs. Iphone changed that in a big way.

Jealous, I wanted a Surface Book but it was double the price of my ZenBook which I really like so couldn't justify it. I've gone from iPhone 7, Retina MacBook and iPad Pro 9.7 to Google Pixel and ZenBook UX305 in the last 1-2 months, I don't own a single Apple product anymore.

The only time I had a stability issue with Windows 10 in the last six months, can't remember for sure before that, is when I messed with the registry. I'd say it's fairly speedy, and the system is rather light on resource use. In testing, I found that there were quite a few occasions when my SP3 used less RAM than the MBP doing the same things.

Now, let's talk about viruses. I maintain that you, being a tech literate person, aren't likely to need anything more than the AV that is set to scan somewhat regularly. My sister, who I wouldn't call tech literate, doesn't need more than that and her computer doesn't have any viruses either. We're past the days when a person could do nothing and get a virus.

That's very good to hear about the virus situation.

It may not be long that I start looking for computer alternatives. Chromebooks and Surface are on my radar.

I've not had trouble with a virus on Windows for about a decade, don't do shady stuff and you won't have any problems, simple lol.
I second Pojo. I haven't had a virus on my Windows desktop since I bought it in 2006 -- ten years.

What do you think of the Pixel?! I'm waiting on the XL to be restocked in the Google Store. Although I'll admit, I'm tempted to buy the 5" Pixel right now (it's in stock) as I'm a little worried that I'm going to find the XL too large to day-to-day use.

Good thing about MS putting out these Surface's is that they are basically reference devices for the oems to put out cheap versions of

Yeah it's a freakin awesome PC. I've been tempted to buy one to replace my current office beast, a SP4 with 2 28" 4k screens on swivel arms.

Windows is quite awesome these days, incredibly stable and safe. They really really put a lot of work into it, and you can tell they have been pretty unified in the direction they are taking it. Works wonderfully as a desktop OS AND as a touch OS at the same time, which IMO is its greatest achievement. I think they still need to put a lot of work into the Edge browser, they need to bring back OneDrive placeholders and some of the UI still needs to be updated like file explorer. But overall it's a complete joy to use.

I love it! I wasn't interested in the bigger XL so I am glad they didn't cheap out the standard version with lower specs (7 + 7 Plus camera for example). It's easily the best Android phone I've owned.

Mobile TechReview`s comparison to Surface Book with Performance Base & 2016 15" MBP
Excellent as ever...

I've never watched any of her reviews before. Really enjoyed that! She was very objective.
