Guys! Need your help!

Saw a second hand Nexus 6 like new in a second hand shop for just 350€!! Almost bought it. Still thinking about it. I've got until later today to decide.

Right now I've got the S5. I'm happy with it overall but I've always loved the Nexus line.

I think the S5 is more versatile: smaller and easier to cast and use one handed, brighter screen for easier outdoor visibility, longer battery life, water resistant, fingerprint scanner, ability to change the battery in the future when it starts to degrade, more storage thanks to microSD, better picture quality and 4K video recording.

Nexus 6, on the other hand, has better memory management, bigger screen, better loudspeakers, OIS, faster updates, no TouchWiz, on screen buttons (love these), custom roms and tweaks, great build quality, turbo charger, faster and more fluid experience, features like multi users and screen pinning that the S5 doesn't have, etc.

What should I do?

I could sell the S5 for 250€ and buy the Nexus 6 for just 100€ more. Great offer, but I'm worried about having less battery life (getting 5 hours screen on time always. I never have to worry about lasting a whole day), less brighter screen for outdoor visibility and worst camera quality and 4K video recording.

Suggestions?

If visibility outdoors in bright sunlight is needed, then I would stick with Samsung as the N6 has poopy max brightness outdoors.

I live in a sunny place most of the year, so it is important, but then I think I could always find a spot where there is shadow to use the phone and then keep going or something.

The nexus 6 has a high brightness mode. If you have a compatible kernel, you can use the app "Kernel Auditor" from the play store and enable it. Don't use it too much because the brightness was limited for heat reasons.

I finally decided to pass and stay with the S5 a little longer.

The Nexus 6 tempts me a lot, but the size, screen, battery and camera aren't as good as I would want.

G4 was also a disappointment for me. I may wait for the Note 5, next Nexus or even the next iPhone 6S Plus. I tried the 6 Plus again today and really liked it.

I'm finding myself using Android's features less and less as time goes by, like widgets or downloading torrents. I'm not doing that very often anymore.

I got the S5 on September and since then I haven't rooted or done a factory reset. I'm getting tired of all of that, so I might go iPhone again. I'd really like an easy backup system (iTunes) of all my apps data and stuff like that. Problem is iPhone's are so so expensive :eek:

Question for everyone here with the 6:

Did you decrypt and if so has it made a huge difference? Sorry if it has already been asked.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that hardware encryption was disabled in Lollipop 5.1 due to the performance hit it had. People are saying that 5.1 is noticeably smoother and I'm inclined to agree. Google looked at what a lot of the most popular kernels were doing and implemented some of those optimizations.

Nope, Encryption is still there. It's a lot smoother than before, yes, but I was wondering if it's even better without encryption. I'm currently on build LMY47l, for the record.

I've been on ROMs since i got the phone so never had to deal with encryption or performance issues.

I thought about going to a ROM, but with I/O around the corner there's likely going to be a preview for M and I really want to go to that ASAP.

A custom ROM would be the quickest way to run the Android M preview.

I'm sure once Google releases it, some developers will root it and package it out to install

I just know that last year Cyanogenmod refused to upgrade to L in preview. What ROM did?

From the ROMs I've used, Chroma and AOSIP are based on Lollipop. Im currently using AOSIP and have found that it's the most stable.

I picked up another Nexus 6 today. I gave mine to my GF when her 6+ was stolen 2 weeks ago. Buy I was missing my nexus so I looked on CL and found this for $400! Phone and charger only no box. Love the dark wood look! Major score!

Very nice looking!

I am using the white carbon fiber from Dbrand and love the texture it supplies to allow me to use the phone with no case and great grip.
