Enjoying it so far. Its scary the difference in free memory on the Nexus 6 compared to the Note 4. Same 10 apps open and Note 4 is at 2.48gb used, Nexus 6 has 2.1gb FREE! Unreal.

First few photos taken in a rush because its brutally windy and cold here today...

The weather looks scary.
Just got back to the car before all hell broke loose and the skies opened :) the sea was very turbulent and the wind was picking up sand and literally sand blasting my face. So yeah didn't have too much time to even frame better shots. It was wicked.

Still cannot enjoy Spring yet on US east coast, oh well.

I doubt you will ever go below 2gb free memory.

Try some YouTube high def videos and audiophile music.

Samsung S6, what is that? :)

It arrived. So yeah - basically its a big moto x 2014 :)

Quick observations.

Speaker grills - preferred the texture on the moto x 2014 than the smooth feeling on the nexus 6.

Back of the nexus 6 is major finger print magnet compared to the moto x. Though will soon be remedied via a case.

size... Feck it no way's about it - its big. Surprisingly feels bigger than it is. Though no way near as bad as my Lumia 1520 was.

Just got prompted for 5.1 !! Yay. This is the reason why these phones exist. No more waiting in limbo for an update.
I got my nexus 6 on Saturday, and I still am on 5.0. Oh well not that worried about it. Love the phone though.

Really? That's strange. I got notified almost immediately there was a software update available. How are they rolling the update out I wonder if some still haven't got it. Strange indeed.

Yeah I have no idea. I got two updates for my moto 360 that I got the same day. Really weird

Edit...

1 strange App behaviour I have noticed is Tapatalk on the Nexus 6.

I can launch it from Recents menu and it will always be ready and loaded in the background.

However press on the desktop icon and it forces Tapatalk to reload back to its main welcome page.

Very strange. Haven't noticed this on other devices.

Fixed....

Uninstalled app and reinstalled.

Can also watch 360 degree videos via YT on the nexus as well.

Just posted a feeler for my IP6+ as I am scared to go back but this phone has intrigued me more than any other being released or has been released lately that would fit the same needs.

I do worry about iMessage and battery life but the new phone itch has got me!

Took about a week for me to get the update after I bought it, Tmobile variant.

Has anyone with ATT and fhis device received 5.1 OTA yet?

Is it lagging behind? I heard with nexus devices they get the updates faster than anyone else but this is concerning if there is a delay. Deciding to pull the trigger on selling my IP6+ but crossing my Ts and dotting my Is

It should be in the mail on Monday. I hope I like it.

I got lucky and slipped into the pre-order que the very moment they were released. Now many months later I must say it's been every bit as good of an experience as I'd hoped after a stellar year with my Nexus 5.

That said, in fairness it did make a difference that I've been using Androids since 2008, and have experience that comes in especially handy from time to time. However the bugs in 5.0 were very minimal.

Now running 5.1 it's very fast, stable, and very enjoyable. So much so, I'm in no hurry to make further changes at this point.

(Mine is a Google Nexus 6, running on my AT&T acct)

Carriers are delaying updates (besides Sprint). Only options are pulling sim and wiping device enabling G servers to push update or sideloading via ADB (no root or modding required to install). Carriers are evil and ATT is the worst of the bunch.

I agree, that's why I bought both my Nexus 5 and 6 models from Google Play. By the way I've received very fast courteous service from Google on several occasions now. Every bit as good as Apple's good service.

I'm disappointed that Google Devices are going away in the future.

Doesn't matter where the devices are purchased from. The sim is what's dictating the updates which is why I sideload now.

Where did you hear this?

How hard is it to side load and why are the carriers delaying the updates? Totally defeats buying a nexus device imo if timely updates aren't going to be the norm. Might as well buy a Samsung ATT device.

The hardest part of sideloading is installing ADB/Android SDk and it isn't that it's difficult but more so time consuming the first go around. There are tutorials on YT with links to the files in their descriptions making it even easier. Once you have what you need, it really is just plugging it in, typing a couple commands and you're off to the races. Example:

adb boot recovery
Select OTA
adb sideload OTA file.zip

and you're done

As far as why? No clue. Maybe because they want to feel like their in control? Like I said, ATT has become the evil empire of carriers with overcharging on phones, delaying updates like no other, more preinstalled apps than any carrier and even changing out the boxes and stripping them of accessories (like headphones) to increase in store accessory sales.

Even with delays, you still get updates months before other OEM.
