I DoNot Like my friends right now!!

So I was talking to my friends about the Ipad. They were like its just a big itouch (there not very tech savvy if you know what I mean). They made me feel stupid even thinking of buying it. I see potential. But is it worth it in my position?

1.I'm a freshman in high school.

2. The school gives us laptops to take home and use anytime.

3. My brother has an iphone.

What, you mean just like many of the fools on this forum are? Here's a suggestion. Why don't you make the decision based on what you feel rather than letting others persuade you any which way.

I don't know what those three things have to do with it, but anyway... The iPad can do a lot more than an iPod Touch. Although it is not as portable, it has a larger and more functional screen. The iPad also has a 10 hour battery. It also has the option for 3G, so you don't have to worry about WiFi. There are more apps that can be used (iBooks, iWork, etc.) Finally, the iPad has a more powerful processor. Honestly, don't listen to your friends, they don't know anything. And, when you are walking around with your iPad they will be so jealous.

Hey, i'm a sophomore in High school and i like to keep up with technology especially apple stuff. i have an iphone 3GS and imac, i really want an iPad, not just because its cool, but because i like to read and have a replacement for this ***** netbook (HP Mini 311 Hackintosh) and my friends also do the same exact thing, Make me feel like an arse for even wanting the damn thing. But they didn't stop me at all.

i was thinking about it but really the only thing that gets at me is the no camera on the front.

i know that it might be hard to hold in place for some *stupid people but cmon that would be perfect tablet. i would really get to me though if they add it in any sort of second generation

Actually it is a big ipod touch (note, there is no such thing as an iTouch).

Are you planning on using it instead of a laptop? I'd say if that's the case, its not as good as a solution as a laptop and since your school is giving you a laptop, it makes even less sense to spend the $$ on something that will not work as well as a laptop. Don't get me wrong the iPad is a great tool, but apple is positioning it between an iPhone and an laptop, meaning that its abilities is sub par to that of a laptop. Its great at light note writing, light surfing and some other work, but a laptop is a better tool for school work.

Money aside, if you do not have a primary computer, buy one of those first. This device is NOT a replacement for a laptop/desktop. You may be able to get by with it, but it's not something I would recommend as the "only" computer device you have for high school and/or college.

BTW make a few notes of the statements your buddies made about the iPad and date it, seal it up in a envelope. In about year you can open it up and read them their comments back to them as they are playing around on their iPad 2.0, or used 1.0 they just bought on craigslist.

I wanted to buy a MacBook pro but the price at my age would not be a good decision. The Ipad came to mind the possibility of new kinds of apps.

Well, if you want a "golden device" that has functions "better than anything that is out now" it won't be the iPad. It doesn't support Flash, and if you're in high school I can only assume you watch a lot of streaming video and visit sites with Flash navigation and animation. Also, 75% of video online is Flash - currently.

Well, I'd say that 75% is available in flash. Of that 75%, though, there is a lot greater portion of it moving to HTML 5 (YouTube for instance and Vimeo). As the way I see it (and many others), Flash is being transitioned out, slowly but surely, to HTML 5.

I did not know there was teen drama over the iPad. Honestly no need to create a thread about this, who give a **** what your friends think. Buy whatever you want unless all you care about is what your friends think about you, also you seem a little sensitive. They don't like the iPad but I don't see how that can make you feel stupid about buying one.

She wouldn't've needed it since she has a good HP tablet working fine with Photoshop but she was also mad that it didn't have any DVD drive or multiple USB ports. That is when I just started cracking up!
I was surprised she didn't know all that stuff since I have been talking about the iPad since December.
All my other friends keep bashing it and saying that it is not worth the money... I just rolled my eyes and went along with my business and pretended that they never said any of those hurtful words.

The iPad is going to be a hit! Everyone was the same way with the iPod, Macbook Air, and the iPhone when it came out... Although no one thought it was cool at the beginning (unless you are a MacRumors/Apple Fan ) they did become must-have items. It will happen the same with the iPad. 110% sure
