Def not a huge incentive this year, personally I went with X.

If the X wasn’t an option I’d keep my 7+ as wireless charging isn’t worth an $800 investment (perhaps if I needed an upgrade).

I wasn't going to upgrade this year but just broke down and bought an X. Based on my analytical observations 100% of the people who were not going to buy this year did indeed buy one. Also it looks like the 8 and 8+ are selling at 0% while the X is selling at 100%.

Yes I was one of those who were adamant I wasn’t getting the x or even the 8 plus. I also caved and got an X this week.

I see a lot of heavy cases in use this time of year with people not wanting to smash their phone when slipping on ice. It’s hard to tell what what phones I’m looking at. I have, to my shock, seen some Pixel 2XLs out and about.

I agree. Unlike some posters saying they see lots or none, most people aren't out there flashing their phones for others to see. Especially when incases. When the numbers come out, I think the X sales will be impressive.

9-5 Mac posted a review on the X by Strategy Analytics.

On a side note, I tried to open my wife's 5 to check on something and started to fumble around not sure how to open it or close it. Until I remembered it has a Home Button. Seemed awkward to the X's gestures. imho---

Since everyone else is doing it. Out of 46 folks, only 2 have upgraded to the X. I am not one of the 2.

I am not one the people who are covering the X in a different color case. I always want to ensure anyone who sees me knows I have the latest, greatest and best iPhone X as I always put in my shirt pocket. The silver color in the clear case shinning and flashing has been getting a lot of attention by people who are passing by me :cool:wherever I am. I am so proud displaying the most gorgeous stunning silver iPhone X which is the best iPhone in the history up to date to all around me. I am so fortunate to have it since the launch day.:cool:

I don't know if this is even that accurate but istock now dot com is showing much better stock numbers going into the final shopping weekend before Christmas. 8 and 8+ have always been well stocked but, at least in my area, the X is now almost fully stocked.
I am going with the idea that  has upped their shipping and made sure the stores are well stocked for Christmas. How this will affect quarterly sales numbers I don't know.
But it could also mean the X isn't selling as well as expected.

"iPhone X shipments are expected to reach 30-35 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017."

Evidence? Yeah, evidence of success.

At 35,000,000 units of a $1250 product, that's $43.7 billion dollars in revenue. As a point of reference, that is the same revenue that Amazon did all of last year's fourth quarter. Across thousands of items. Across millions of transactions. One lulxury smartphone, most expensive ever produced, bigger than Amazon.

In only 6 weeks of availability, the iPhone X has undoubtedly become the most successful consumer electronic product of all time. Boy, is it selling badly. LOL.

If anybody clicks on the link that the OP posted, the headline title states "Analysts citing lukewarm demand." And if anybody knows anything about analysts, it's called mud slinging. They have no credible evidence to post anything other than what they believe or forecast for the future, Which translates into nothing until reported by Apple in January upcoming earnings call . That's all that matters at this point.

I’m sure all three devices combined have sold pretty well, although analysts suggest it’s down on previous years slightly. No single model is breaking any records though. I’m not sure Apple expected that with three devices launched at the same time however.

Apple are just as guilty as any other manufacturer for massaging their figures though. We get a better idea from the independent retailers who usually sell more devices than Apple directly. They don’t have a hidden agenda for boosting figures and have more difficulty hiding it.

Analyst configurations are self generated predictions they don't have any real accurate metric based off any evidence proving otherwise of actual sales numbers in terms of sold versus available. Not to mention, you're certainly entitled to believe what you want about sales figures, but the numbers Apple reports is the substance that matters in the sense of what's actually true versus predicted. That's the significant difference. And that usually were analysts fall short, is because the numbers are not really indicative of global sales.

I take all sales figures with a pinch of salt including Apples. I’m not saying the analysts are correct either.

Fair enough. I think there are a lot of analyst(s) out there, some are more respectable than others. It's just how they gather their evidence and material based off what they predict.

I think it’s human nature to predict based off our own interpretations and experiences though and analysts are just feeding off each other’s thoughts.

To be honest I don’t need an analyst or Apple to tell me this years iPhones are rarer than previous releases. I’ve seen a handful of 8’s and none of the other two. When the iPhone 5 and 6 were released they were popping up everywhere and there was a significant buzz for them. This year has been very muted as people are upgrading less often.
