Yeah I hop between OSes and, thus, used to listen to both MBW and Windows Weekly. WW has become just AI basically (and in only a positive light), and they are all wrong. It's really bad.

And MBW really has gotten even worse. I just like Jason Snell, the others just don't add much. AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT ALL THE SOUND CRAP. I don't care about microphones and perfect recording environments, etc.,

I just gave up on them all. I, sadly, don't even miss it.

For those that watch it or listen to it now... what do you think of the new person, Christina Warren? I haven't made my mind up about her yet.

Not sure myself. So far she is kind of a neutral addition - not bad, but not someone I am anxiously waiting to view as yet. I miss Alex, although his use and talk of video stuff was far beyond my need. My main complaint these days is that a podcast called Macbreak sometimes takes up a third of the broadcast with nothing remotely to do with Macs or Apple. I.e. F1 racing, Ted Hansen, whoever he is, etc

Yeah I have noticed that also... You know you are in for it when they start off with "there isn't a lot of Mac related news"... Ugh.

I'm still a member of Club TWiT and a regular listener, but it feels like the entire TWiT enterprise is on it's last legs.

My Listens:

1. Security Now - I still learn things from Steve.
2. This Week in Intelligent Machines - probably their best podcast, since it's relatively fresh.
3. MacBreak Weekly - it's fine when there is actual Apple news to discuss.
4. This Week in Space - A fun listen if you're a space nerd.

However, every since Leo was forced to downsize into his attic I feel like the show lacks some of the old energy, probably because the in-studio chemistry no longer exists. Of course, everyone is getting older and nothing is forever. I'll support TWiT until they fold their tent, but I suspect that will be sooner rather than later.

They have not been the same since they had to leave The Brick House.

Yeah, something is missing in the mixture since they downsized to the attic. Rather than a discussion like you might have with fellow nerds around a table at the coffee shop, it kind of comes over now like an old time newscast at 6 oclock, moving from one talking head to another.

But I still watch it.

I use to listen to MBW, but largely stopped when they had some personal changes. Rene Ritchie, and Serenitly Caldwell are two people I miss from that show and when they dropped off, I largely stopped.

Yep. He talked about some very interesting stuff, but it was almost always WAY above my simple needs for AV. Cameras that cost 30 Gs are not really in my line. But, he was usually lucid and made an interesting anchor for the far end of the team.

I don't know. I find the tangents that he and the host (can't remember his name off the top of my head) go on about setups and AV stuff reaaaaally boring. I like Snell and that is it.

And Windows Weekly is so pro AI it is lame. And way too political.

I'm not a regular listener...

I get his stuff might not be everybody's cup of tea, but from listening to him specifically I discovered the ILM documentary (which was really interesting), Notion, and a bunch of other cool stuff.

I guess I have other fringe nerd interests.

I like Snell. He is totally pro-Apple, but that is fine. I know some totally pro-Windows and pro-Chromebook fans also. I am almost totaly pro_Linux with some Macos usage on the side, since deep down it is still partly Unix and still runs 'nix utilties.

As to Windows Weekly, Paul Thurott is the puzzler. His weekly theme is that Microsoft is the king of AI_Slop and true to their old line of, "Where do you want to be dragged to today?". He continuously talks about the fragility of the OS and the in-your-face ads and continual resettings of his defaults to something that MS wants.

Then, he praised the 15" inch Macbook Air as the finest laptop ever made against which all other PC portables are junk, but then says that his daily driver is some unknown name (to me) plastic laptop.

There is some inconsistancy in his presentations.
