Hitting my JoAnn on the way home from work, LOL. I also have the cover and it renders using the dock impossible. With this, it looks like even in portrait mode you'd be able to have the charger plugged in.

Yes, you can have the cable plugged in with the iPad sitting on the stand in portrait mode.

Office Depot Stand

First thing I did at my office today ... clean off my document stand and made room for my iPad.

$10.99 at Office Depot.

If your local Sunday paper has the ad insert for Jo Ann's, yesterday's Jo Ann's insert has a coupon for 40% off any item. So that brings down the cost of the stand to $1.80 plus tax. What a deal. Heading over right now to pick up a couple more of the stands.

Wish you guys would have posted this $39 ago. :)

The intoxicating frenzy was too much. :apple:

That's the one I have! Actually, I was able to get two, as they were marked as $5.99 each. Guess I got a bargain! It works a treat, absolutely perfect for positioning the iPad in either orientation: landscape or portrait. It's sturdy, too.

Made a small modification to the Tripar stand this morning. Added four 1/2" clear adhesive vinyl bumpers to four bottom corners of the stand to ensure the stand won't slip on any surface. And placed two 3/8" vinyl bumpers on each side of the stand where the iPad rests. You can find the vinyl bumpers at Home Depot. They come in packs of 16.

Most of the book/plate stands won't work for iPad when the USB connector is plugged in. So I designed one using Maple wood & slip resistant pads. Here's the link for details. It is very sturdy & doesn't move on multiple touches to iPad.

Do you keep your iPad plugged in while you're using it ? ? ?

I was going to buy a cheap wired stand from Amazon but I decided to use my old hard drive dock as one instead.

This is how it looks when I have my iPad on it.

Here's how I roll when I use both my MBP & iPad.

A little ghetto but it works. :D

Picked up a few of the stands from Joanne Fabrics today. Yep - works great.
Thanks for the heads up on this.

Awesome haha!!

Opened this thread, browsed the first page then headed down to the local "Michael's Arts and Crafts" just got back with the thread still open in less than 15 min.

Got 2 extra stands exactly like the one pictured in then original post. 3.99 each. These are michael's brand but are 100% identical to the stands in the OP.

Can't believe I payed 40 for an apple stand. Oh well. Now I can leave a stand in a each room. This stand has the advantage of horizontal viewing which isn't possible with apple's dock.

Went to JoAnn Fabrics today and got one like the OPs for 2.99! Works great!

I read and saw the OP here and Monday I picked up a nice acrylic 8" high easel picture stand at Walmart. I got some tiny self adhesive rubber feet for it to prevent slipping also. Works like a charm The nice thing is when you spread the legs out or in on the easel it actually adjusts the tilt angle for your comfort and reading angle!

Thank you so much to the OP for a Great idea.

Cost of the stand was a whopping $3!--))) Oh and it looks great too! ;)
