Just like an iPod Touch is a tiny tiny iPad.

It's only that the iPod Touch has been around for a few years. So it's just a larger iPod Touch with actually less RAM for the applications (3rd gen Touch) and more pixels to drive. Admittedly, the iPad also has a marginally stronger processor.

The main difference is that you cannot put the iPad into your pocket, as it has a larger screen.

Trying to explain to people the full potential of the iPad is overload.
Some of them can't evn grasp the idea that a device like the iphone exist let alone see the iPad for what it is worth.

They freak out when I am running a remote session on my iPad.

" I thought it was a giant iPod but your running windows? Is it a netbook? where is the keyboard"

Technology moves 2 fast for some..

I think people do understand the concept of the iPad. You can do remote sessions on your iPod Touch too. It works on my iPhone. I would be more offended, if people compared my iPhone to the iPad. That would be an insult on the iPhone.

lol. Just makes conversation so much easier when you just tell people what they already have stuck in their minds. I got tired of trying to explain the possibilities given the amount of screen real estate etc . It's a large iPod touch .

You need to just not worry about it and enjoy.

Depends how big your pocket is.... :p

I usually just say "what does your computer do that iPad doesn't".

mmmm lets see where do I begin :D

The iPad is great for those who have a need for it but the above question will just open up a bag of hurt for your argument.

I usually just reply with "Yeah? Well isn't a movie theater just a big tv screen?" and when the inevitable "But movie theaters have movies that aren't on tv" response comes back, I just open my netflix player, ABC, iBooks, iWork, etc and say "show me this on your iTouch.";)

I adore the iPod Touch. I have an iPhone and often I just cannot justify the premium for the extra features. The reason why the iPod Touch works is that it puts a bunch of computing power and functions into your pocket. I hate the syncing, but the fact that you can check your emails, you can play games and you can follow news (at least where there is wifi) is just so cool.

But all that works on the back of the iPod Touch/iPhone being truly portable. Take that portability away and you kind of castrate the appeal.

Small can be good. I like to keep these basic features in my jeans, in my jacket or even shirt pocket. But if I take a larger bag, my expectations in terms of computing power, functions increase.

And a Kia Sportage is a mini mini mini mini Chevy Tahoe.
I don't know about cheap cars, but both cars sound awful. If one is a small crap car and the other one is just something like the large version, what's the point of having either? Can you imagine the Fiat 500 or Smart in a larger version? I can but I will never want those cars. Once you make them big, you take away their main WOW factor.

Figure that out all by yourself, did you?

Well, I saw a picture. First I thought it was an iPod Touch, but the title said that it was an iPad.

I think you've got a bestseller there. You could sell loads of those jackets. Imagine the people wanting to put their netbooks in there! :) Or the shopping, even... You can fit a few pretty big fish in there!

lol. It's a large iPod touch .

I always think of this ;)

"The iPad isn’t a big iPod Touch—an iPod Touch is a miniature iPad that restricts the full multitouch experience in exchange for offering greater portability. With the iPad, in contrast, you get multitouch the way it was meant to be done.”
– Jacqui Cheng Ars Technica review.

I actually always say that to people because I do feel its really the case and I don't see a problem with it. Its like a 55" HDTV is a bigger 32" SDTV...they both do the same basic thing but the 55" does it much nicer/better. I feel the same way about the iPad...its like a Touch but bigger and better, but overall you do about the same stuff on both.

Except a 55" HDTV is better than a 32" SDTV in every possible way (except power usage).
The iPad is a lot bigger than an iPod touch, therefore I can't put it in my pocket and use it as an MP3 player. It's not so clear cut. For me an iPod touch is a lot better/more usable.

Every possible way? I don't want a giant tv dominating my room. I hardly watch the thing anyway. I have a 24inch set, which is just perfect. It all depends on your personal situation... As for my iPad, I love it... It fits in with my life quite well. I don't use it as an mp3 player, so have no need to put it in my pocket. I don't know why people think the iPad should be able to fit in a pocket... It doesn't, so what? I own lots of things that don't fit in my pocket.

Well that's pretty much what it is - an over-grown iPod Touch, and I love it! What irritates me is when people refer to the iPod Touch as an 'iTouch.' >_<

Yup, from a feature POV it's better. It's static so portability isn't required, the viewing angle, colour quality/reproduction, brightness, resolution, input options would be better. Whether or not it's better for you is not important... it would be the better TV.
It's not so clear when it comes to the iPad/iPod comparisons.
