but it really is just a big ipod touch

I tell people its basically a big ipod touch, cause well it is basically a big ipod touch. it does everything my ipod touch did, just bigger. it does more obviously. the reason i say that is for me the ipod touch was the perfect lay in bed and browse the net, or play silly games, or draw silly things with silly drawing apps problem was its soo damn small. the ipad is what the ipod touch shouldve been in the first place. so for everyone saying its soo much more than are really just justifying their purchase themselves, and i say all this as a skeptic who bought one and loves it.

I usually just reply with "Yeah? Well isn't a movie theater just a big tv screen?" and when the inevitable "But movie theaters have movies that aren't on tv" response comes back, I just open my netflix player, ABC, iBooks, iWork, etc and say "show me this on your iTouch.";)

ibooks is coming to the touch and iphone though. also, i bet iwork does too. it would be useful to be able to edit a document without having to pull out your giant iphone to do it all. but yeah, abc and netflix are awesome apps, but i thought netflix was also bringing theirs to the iphone too? so it really is a large ipod touch. and it will actually be behind in functionality from june to the fall, probably september/ october. i dont know how people are ok with this, and aren't demanding at least multitasking earlier.

The iPad to Touch size ratio is about the same as a king size bed is to a dog house. I know which of those I'd prefer, but they really are two different structures for two different functions.

I use a Touch, which I find quite useful, but I can't really watch more than about 10 or 15 minutes of video on it, so I don't imagine I'll ever use the Netflix app on it. The iPad, however, is actually about the same size as my first TV, which I watched every day for close to 10 years.

That's fine too, because it is a big iPhone/Touch. Any differences people point out is a direct function of the differences in size.

For example:

"Well, I can read books on my iPad and can't on my iPhone". Well, yes, because it's bigger.

"Well, I can watch movies comfortably on my iPad". Yes, because it's bigger.

"Oh, it's much easier to surf the net or write papers". Again, because it is bigger.

"It has a better multitouch experience". Of course, because it's bigger.

But, anyways, why do people find the iPad being a "bigger Touch" so offensive. I really don't see this as a bad thing because being bigger offers many advantages.
