as for jaguar.... does the dvds and cds encompass the whole digital hub? ie, digital cams/camcorders, etc? i thought that was a pretty handy feature.... it doesn't seem like it would fit anywhere in the system prefs you posted..

No: at least not in the version I have. doesn't have the stuff about scanners, cameras, iPods, etc. It deals only with CD/DVD issues.

Maybe this is stupid, but could it be that the preference pane is installed the moment you attach an iPod, digital camera, ... for the first time??

This way Apple makes sure the Prefs don't get too cluttered for ppl that aren't using an iPod, or a digital camera, or...

I really hope so, because I thought the digital hub thing was a very good idea, and it would be a shame if it was gone.

How is gaming in the latest build of Jaguar? Is is still slower and choppier than 9? Or has it finally met and/or exceeded performance found in 9?

I just tried this with my iPod, and no, no other pref. pane popped up. I hadn't thought about this earlier, but what you suggest is how the Ink prefs work.

When you plug in a tablet, the ink pref pane become available, making the harware set become 2 lines instead of 1. Maybe that is how they will handle cameras/ipods/dv cameras/scanners in the final build. It would be nice to have the options appear when they are useable.

All OS X users have been using the first version of a brand new OS up to this point. For all the complaints I have heard, OS X 10.0 - 10.1 is the best first version of an OS (period). Windows XP is the sixth or seventh (I forget!) version of the OS (and it still doesn't work the way it should). Classic Mac OS (which I have never used since I came on board with the OS X wave) was the ninth version of the OS. Now we are looking at the second version of this remarkable system known as OS X. OS X is already past Windows XP and Classic Mac OS (from rumors and leaks) on the second version! That is progress. OS X is now not only potentially the best OS ever it is the best OS ever.

<end of rant>

Gaming in 10.2 seems smoother than 10.1. i have a GeForce 2 Mx on the G4. I would like to see how smooth it would be with a GeForce 4 TI. Is this the screen you wanted. Ask for more screens, it's no problem. This is 6c92.

It really is quite beautiful.

I own currently own computers running W98, W NT and W XP. Ihave to say the latter two run pretty well, though not perfectly. But they hold no candle to what I am seeing here for sheer elegance and good taste. In fact XP is just plain goofy looking. Cheers for 10.2!

Yes, it's very easy to make XP look like a mac. You can tell from the obvious windows logos, but better from the default windows font used and the lack of picturesque buttons.

If people want to us OS X so badly, BUY A MAC.

Losers. I don't understand it.

I like the screen shots, but...

I find it wierd that you guys are getting in all these requests for pics when you could use PM or email to keep the post count down. :D

I changed my xp desktop into a mac one because it makes the hideous windows experience a more pleasant one. Choosing to make windows look like a "psuedo" mac does not make one a "loser." Calling people "losers" only serves to reinforce the notion that mac users are "snobs."

Admittedly OSX is the best desktop os on the planet. However I refuse to buy a mac just to use OSX because of the exorbitant prices Apple charges for less than state of the art hardware (ie pc133 ram, slow bus). I am eagerly awaiting to see what happens tomorrow. If Apple releases new towers/laptops with faster processors with DDR support, I will be the first in line to buy one.

Mmm these are interesting builds, but what would you guys say to the FINAL coming out tomorrow to ALL admins on CARRACHO.

The defiant act VS the screwed up costs.

Is this possible or mere imagination?

SOmeone asked if APPLE would be pissed if they knew we saw these images.

I wonder if they know how pissed most people are about the price gouges.

I wonder How pissed they are going to be when I get it tomorrow?

LOL

If they get ahold of it tomorrow there's a leak inside Apple...poetic justice...

I'd say we're still a couple of weeks from a final build...

Well it wouldnt be the first time nor the first leak!

In any event I will find out tomorrow.

Of course I am foaming at the mouth to SEND APPLE my message of Disillusionment in any way possible!

Send APPLE the message!

No New Purchases till you take the good stuff out of the closet and stop abusing us!

I can only find the Jaguar 2nd CD in Limewire. But i'm suspecting that is one of the early builds or the WWDC beta.

Would anyone mind sharing with me where you got this stuff ( a more reliable method than limewire). Maybe not posting it here ('cause of apple legal action) but by sending me a quiet e-mail (not at my .mac one, try cesa@freesurf.ch).

Thanks...

Dante

Well i'm going to my local Apple dealer in Lausanne, today, maybe I can ask if they have a couple 'extra' beta copies floating around...

So I've found lots of Carracho servers that have it, but they are sooo slow, and i've gotten disconnected after about 3 hours.

Just if you wnat to try they are: Steve's Job, German mac server and Xpander.

I have found many others than have Jaguar, but most of them you require a membership, and have to get a special download permission. Others like this one T3 which has Jaguar, is full all the time.
