Thanks for those links. The SF Weekly article was a particularly good read.

My contention is that the Apple security guys at the house were NOT ex-SFPD, nor is there any evidence to suggest that they were later fired. I assumed you might have some inside info - since these tidbits were never revealed by the media at the time (nor have I read anything since) supporting your assertions.
You'll note I mentioned that I "thought" they were SFPD, but that the head guy actually was FBI.

I got tripped up because they did not admit or deny that they were SFPD officers during the search and I was going based on my memory of what I read, which is often faulty. So, again, I will retract that statement.

The head guy was retired though and the implication is that retirement was strongly suggested to him by Apple.

Actual hard evidence or proof for that, I do not have. I am no Apple insider, just a customer.

Dear friends,
I do not know why people love jailbreaking their own iPhone. What are the advantages? I know it is legal, but with the Jailbreak it is possible doing only illegal actions (like installing applications without purchasing them).

not installing cracked apps is just 1 thing you can do

you get root access to the phone meaning you can alter files that normally could not some examples would be fonts, icons, system sounds

also tweaks are some things apps do but were never permitted to be in the app store

examples of this are (replacing the control centre) a 3rd party control centre would allow you to have more toggles and customize the look and the order of the toggles

so essentially jailbreaking lets you install apps(tweaks) that apple for whatever reason does not want in the store, some apps in the app store today started off as a tweak only jailbreakers had

my explanation of jailbreaking still only covers a few things or advantages of jailbreaking

OP is not a troll, just hopelessly lost.

MacRumors' FAN -browse italian jailbreaking sites/youtube and research before jailbreaking. you can break your phone if you dont know what you're doing.

do not post here anymore as you will only be criticized.

You are the kindest person I have ever known.
Unfortunately, I have just opened another thread about this topic.

If OP is not a troll, then what else he needs to get from people here? He got all he needed to JB. So now he opened another same thread

He is a troll. First he started a thread saying jailbreaking is useless and illegal, then started this thread. So now I hear he started a new thread?

Jailbroken and loving since day one. No problems here to report. More and more tweaks are released and updated to iOS 8 daily. By far best tweaks for me are f.lux, no slow animation and five column home screen and dock.

In most countries Jailbreak is used to pirate apps. However, initially jailbreak was developed to bypass carrier lock by GeoHot (16 year old genius hacked). After a while other hackers/developers saw a great potential in jailbreaking Apple devices and started developing tools to allow users to do more with their devices. That generated very large amounts of money for them and still does, thus Chinese guys are so active in this field.

However, the times have changed, and Apple made iOS more open and flexible, and therefore the need for jailbreak faded out slowly. And as of right now, jailbreak is mostly used to pirate apps... Sad.

That's what jailbreaking is most infamous for, and it doesn't help that the big companies and un-informed individuals spread this word around. Although yes, that may be true, I would say jailbrekaing is more about enhancing the user experience

You don't even need to root an android phone to pirate apps but for whatever reason, the tweaking side of things for android (with or without rooting) is associated with a positive meaning

Well…Eclipse gets rid of iOS 7's PlaySkool/Fisher Price inspired, unicorn-puke color palette.

And you can finish the job with Monochrome.

Thanks to those I have a black/gray, grayscale UI and not one with toddler-based primary colors.

Just one example.

This sounds awesome, I'd love to see some screenshots.

I missed your post earlier, but now that I see it I am not going to allow you to lump me into the same category as a thief.

I pay for my tweaks and apps. Pirating apps is NOT why I jailbreak. And Apple may be letting things be more open lately, but they certainly would not allow me to make my phone the way it is right now if I were stock.

So, in my case…you are wrong.

Hey guys and girls quick question i have an iphone 6 plus, its on 8.1.1 can i still jailbreak with this software? Thanks

That's so awesome. Can you still keep color for the icons?

Well, Eclipse only changes the UI. Monochrome changes the icons to gray so don't install Monochrome. I am also using Color Profiles for the grayscale effect. But using that will also turn the icons gray.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Now if I could only decide on the plus or the regular ip6, sigh. I'm leaning towards just buying them both and swapping sims.

Sorry, can't help you with that one. ;)

I have the iPhone 5 (Black/Slate) and I'm keeping it. :D
