In just the last year I have gone from the Galaxy S3 to the iPhone 5 to the Droid DNA to the Note 2 and now back to the iPhone 5. I may end up with the S4 at some point too haha. I really like both Android and iOS. However, I own an iPad mini, iMac, MBA and two Apple TVs. Despite the smaller screen and lack of customization, I might end up keeping the iPhone for awhile as it plays with my Apple products much nicer than my Android phones did. Anyone else do this or am I an uber tech nerd?

I havent paid more than $200 for any of the phones after selling the current one I had. Pretty much the same as new contract or upgrade prices.
I'm the same way. In the past year I've had an iPhone 4S, blackberry torch 9860, blackberry torch 9910, HTC One X white, One X black, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, HTC One X+, and now a Galaxy Note 2, and soon to be HTC One. iPhone 5 is still my favorite, but I love messing around with android.
How about you just keep your iPhone 5 + buy a $299 Nexus 4. That's what I did. I've had every iPhone since the first one and would never fully give up my Jesus phone (iPhone) for Android; however, I love Android as well. So, I just bought a N4 so I can have the best of both worlds: iOS & Android. Nexus phones are the only Android devices I seem to like. Once the Nexus 5 comes out, I'll sell my Nexus 4 and put the money towards that. Hell, while I'm at it, I may get a Nexus 7.7 (supposedly coming out next month for $149) It is the successor to the Nexus 7.
I had an iPod Touch and the Note 2 which was cool since the Touch is basically the iPhone 5. I still have the iPad mini for my iOS needs too though.
The best balance to me is an android smartphone for more important and everyday use and an iPad for iOS games and leisure use.

Forcing iPhone apps to work on the iPad is not the same. So I'm moving back to the iPhone for that reason alone. I am not going to be forced to work with three devices at all time just to get both experiences.

By my math thats still $1000 you wasted. My first smart phone was the iPhone 4. I sold it and got the iPhone 5 and lost about £200. I can't see my updating until something goes wrong with it (like my home button on the 4) or the 6 or 7 comes out.
I have only 4 phones before that (one of which my wife still uses).
Why do people see the need to brag about their fickle purchase history? When you keep switching between android and iOS presumably you spend a load on apps as well? I'm quite happy tied in to my apple ecosystem. Because it just works.
I have a 64GB iPhone 5 and a 16GB N4. I couldn't make up my mind on which to keep because I really enjoy them both and both iOS and Android. I just decided to keep both and have the best of both worlds. If Apple does something crazy with iOS 7 ill have my iPhone to use it on. If KLP is awesome ill have it on my N4.
Yeah, I don't upgrade unless something happens to my devices too. You never get to enjoy the device fully otherwise. I'll probably just keep the current phone I have as a backup.

You might want to consider getting an iPod Touch and adding that to your Android phone. I added one to my Nexus 4, and it's the best thing I've done to make the Nexus really useful to me. The Touch is so thin that it's barely noticeable riding piggy-back on the Nexus. It runs all iPhone apps fine with the only problem being lack of GPS and compass for location services.
$30 a month for T-mobil prepaid on the Nexus, and I run it as a hotspot constantly -- just grab whatever device suits me best. I got the Touch for $250 delivered, and along with the price of the Nexus and the T-mobil plan, it's still a very good bargain.
Love it when posters like this feels it's their obligation to pass judgement on how one chooses to use their own money. And I didn't read it as bragging but rather the OP seeking some solace from this community that he's not the only one with a chronic tech habit. Don't sweat it OP, since one year ago today, I've used 6 different smartphones and will give number 7 a go in a couple weeks when my HTC One arrives. And for you know-it-alls that find this wasteful, I made a profit on 3 devices, broke even on another, and will probably do the same with either of the 2 remaining phones I have should I sell them.

I'm the same way. I don't think i've spent a dime since i've been flipping phones on craigslist. I've alway sold one phone to get another, usually profiting on each phone i've sold.
Same for me! Switching from iPhone to Android is the easiest since resale value of an iPhone is so high
This exactly. If I can't resale, I'll see if I can trade straight across. That way I don't have to rely on upgrades and If I get bored with a phone, I can get something new.
iPhone resale is high as long as you're selling the current model. I bought an iPhone 4s about 6 months after release and sold it shortly after the iphone 5 was released and lost nearly 50%.
Alternatively if you buy an android phone after release, chances are it'll be quite a bit cheaper than when it was released, and so therefore you will probably lose less when you sell it on later.
I do the same thing. The past year I've a Galaxy S3 (twice), Note 2, Galaxy Nexus, RAZR MAXX, iPhone 5 (twice), HTC One X, and an HTC HD7. I may have had more that I'm forgetting. Now I'm looking at selling my S3 and trying out a Nexus 4.
