A Future Feature?

It doesn't have it yet since the hardware lacks the proper design, but I can see in the second or third generation that this device will be the first popular video phone. In its first release, by which I mean the first release of video phone functionality, it will probably only be successful over a WiFi connection. When 3G comes to the iPhone, then video phone functionality will work that way as well.

As for two unannounced features, hmmm...... well, I guess it will possibly be a couple of widgets that haven't been announced that will be pretty darn cool.

Better ya the new iPhone's 'supposed' secret features will be that the phone eats other phones that are crap which is the entire competition and also iTunes will be selling porn now. C'Mon guys let's just wait for...oh I don't know...THE RELEASE DATE! and then find out for ourselves?!

Well when I was at the local ATT Store. The sales rep was stating that the iPhone has at least 2 cool features that are kept a secret until Launch date... I wonder what they are? He was telling majority of buyers will love the "2 new secret features" I wonder............

He is lying...the rep I mean. Reps aren't the cream of the crop intelligent beings. Most likely he doesn't know anything more about the phone than anyone here does and more importantly I'd bet just about anything that he is full of crap. :)

I know the data plan will be free for two years with the purchase of an iphone. HA!!!!!

i think if there really is 2 secret features maybe it has to do with games on the iphone or maybe the ringtone features because it hasnt been confirmed if there are mp3 ringtones

those are two things and att dude might know

Games on the iPhone is something that hasn't been discussed or mentioned anywhere.....but it seems like a no brainer.

#1 There have been games on every cell phone for more than decade.

#2 They just started iPod compatible games. The iPhone IS an iPod. It doesn;t even seem possible that it wouldn't support iTunes iPod games.

Anyone else notice an increased level of newbies around here... ?

Any thread about the iPhone seems to be filled with newbies. Historically, I don't think it's too unusual for new product launches but the iPhone has brought them out in droves. Before it seemed a lot were MS types who signed up just to badmouth but this time around it seems there's a lot of people truly interested in the iPhone.

Perhaps some of it is that MacRumors is becoming a lot more well known. They seem to be quoted a lot in newsarticles.

I thought there was a story a while back about EA being confirmed as developing games?

I don't know how many people are like me, but even though my profile says I am a newbie, I have read these forums for over three years since I registered in 2004. I just don't have a lot to say. I read the forums 4-5 times a day. I just enjoy reading what everyone else has to say about various topics. I guess I should just say more......

Secret Features..?

There are still a few things that, in my mind, don't quite add up with the iphone:

1. Absolutely no demonstration of the camera app or process of capturing images and video.

2. The very distinct similarities of the home button and the iSight camera in the macbooks/pros.

3. No iChat... I know we have probably been over and over this one but jumping on the school/office LAN and being able to quickly send any online user a quick message would be very useful when in the same situation many wouldn't bother sending an SMS.

When internet connectivity is not available the phone could automatically switch the sending process over to standard GSM/SMS protocols.. (or something like that, sounds clearer in my head!).

I hope that the hidden features are an iSight and iChat! That would really rock the s**t out of any smartphone for me. I hope that the carriers fear of loosing revenue from various existing GSM services to Internet based services is not going to hamper or dumb down the feature set too much, now and in the future..

Good points about the home button. That would be pretty nice

-I think an upgrade in storage is coming. . .8/16gb
-Cheap plan

I think Ringtones will be one of them and that they'll sell ringtones thru the iTunes Store. Because when Stve did his keynote in January, you could see a photo of the iPhone pluged in the computer and like when the iPod is plugged in the computer, iTunes shows these tabs with song, podcast, ... and in that photo of the iPhone there was 1 specific tab called "ringtones".

Second is cool features with the camera and high resolution pic's.

Perhaps the secret feature is that it might not be very good after all? :apple:
Managing expectations... I like that.

Ok, I got another one!

DRUM ROLL!

iPhone is officially compatible with most 3rd party GPS receivers. GPS features automatically apply themselves to both Google Maps and EXIF camera photo data. Booyah!

Tell me I'm wrong. :D It would totally tickle me if memory was bumped up to 8GB and 16GB respectively to make up for the state-of-the-art in camera video editting app based on iMovie... oh, sorry forget I said that.

Seriously though here's my extended list of possibilities:
  • Digital Video recorder
  • GPS compatibility
  • Hidden Secondary Camera for vid-Conferencing with iChat
  • 5 MP camera upgrade, with macro focus and zoom lens, flash
  • Memory boost: 8GB,16GB / 16GB,32GB
  • VPN functionality
  • Universal Remote Control software
  • Remote iTunes control (via WiFi) plus wireless syncing
  • $39/mo. voice/unlimited data plan
  • iPhone Games availability, now $9.99 ea. (*most)
  • 3G radio antenna card accessory, with voice/data plan $79/mo.
  • Voice commands/Dictation/Voice Synthesizer

And if any of these come true, I'll be happy to claim credit for giving them the idea. :D It'll be fun after all is said and done, to see what the full FCC reports looked like without all the material excluded so cruelly from prying eyes.

2 things we havnt seen, ichat and the camera interface, so maybe a camera (like somone suggested a few days ago) on the front and ichat on the iphone so you chat between iphone and imac.

It will definitely not have iChat, AT&T would surely be against this as it dilutes the text message market for them. Blackberry found this out the hard way with their PIN feature, which is essentially an text system for free between blackberry users.

mmh..very cool!...

...Perhaps it's an Apple Sat Nav application????

That would be a decisive killer blow to each and every piece of related technology out there...

At the very least that gizmo means that it's at least going to come eventually....
