I FORGOT to ask any questions about it!!! Ugh! What a waste!!!!

I live in Sacramento, CA and low and behold a friend of a friend met up with us and he HAD the phone. I couldn't believe he had the guts to take it out of his pocket. He kept "shushing" us and let me tell you- it was just as spectacular as it looked at MacWorld. I saw the screen orientation in action and the colors were vibrant also. I'm not quite sure how he is allowed to use it without FCC Approval but maybe he must be one of the people to test it (or he just took it?).

I would have at least wanted to know if he could install extra apps on it, or whatever. I feel not worthy because I wasn't able to investigate this product and had NO good questions for him!!!! BAH!

EDIT: KEEP IN MIND TROLLS, I was merely venting my frustration that I didn't come up with questions. I don't have "stats" or "secret info" to spew out to you, I wish I did. So my post is NOT intended to field questions about it like dornoforpyros suggested. SORRY I posted it. Please move along if you are angry I don't have a picture. Sheesh.

Is your friend Bigfoot by any chance?
lol. I should have figured nobody would believe me here. Whatever. It was in use. And by the way, some R&D remains in Elk Grove. I saw the iPod photo before it was released, although it was completely scratched up and in terrible condition. In any case, I saw that in RL before it was out. Period.

Unless your "friend" is a high-up at&t or Cingular executive (or Apple employee on the iPhone team), I call shenanigans.

we totally believe you. really, we do.
lol forget it. I did see it in action, so quite honestly it doesn't matter to me if you don't believe me. In the end, I was frustrated that I didn't ask any important questions. If he had the guts to reveal the physical phone, he probably would have answered stuff, provided he knew the answers in the first place. So carry on, it's worth a chuckle that I didn't think about the inplausibility of people realizing there are people with the phone out there in real life.

cheers

Or he has one of those tremendously bad Chinese counterfeit iPhones posted in another thread.
Of course that is a possibility. Although it did look exactly like the one at MacWorld, but I did not verify it and I wasn't going to grab it out of his hands.

Why don't you go see your friend again and take a picture of it.
Trust me that crossed my mind. Keep in mind this is someone I met this weekend. This guy doesn't know me and we were only together for a second based on our mutual friendship with my brother in law. It's tempting to put in an effort to get a pic. Maybe it will be my 1 second of internet fame. heh.

A lot of people probably think those incredibly bad Chinese counterfeit ones posted in the other thread "look exactly like the ones at MacWorld."

Honestly, what did you expect? you provide no verifiable proof when making a great claim.

In the words of Mr. Sagan, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I'm not saying this guy is or isn't telling the truth, but I am going to point out how "skeptical" forums can be. Now it's not surprising as there is a lot of Apple bullcrap rumors and claims out there (anyone remember the details about "Tubeport?"). But it is also hilarious sometimes when something truthful is staring them in the face and the internet cries "fake" or "Photoshop." The best example that stuck out in my mind about this is when pictures got leaked out of the Powermac G5 and everyone swore up and down that it was fake, pointing out the "Photoshop" flaws. A few days later, the G5 was revealed and the picture was indeed correct.

But back to this guy, it's completely possible that he's seen the phone, and it's possible he's not. I honestly can't believe there is only one prototype out there, and if an R&D developer legitimately made a true claim on a forum for some reason - OR he/she showed a friend and that friend went and blabbed/bragged, everyone would still call shenanigans.

But as someone else said, either way it doesn't really matter to everyone else.

Seriously? Who cares?

It will be out in 2 months anyway and it is not like there is any super secret stuff we don't know about it yet.

I'd rather like to hear about new features in Leopard.

Which does make me think the OP did actually see the iPhone. This is a pre-announced, pre-demonstrated Apple product, not some secret device speculated about on the rumour sites. I can quite believe certain members of their business sales team have been given the phone to show off when meeting major customers and suppliers. And Sacramento is hardly half a world away from Cupertino.

This is the beautiful thing about living in America...Freedom of Speech. If he wants to start a thread saying he saw the iPhone, than so be it. Whether he saw it or not, is something that I frankly don't care about and something I will never know for sure. I don't think there was any reason for everyone to make such wise :apple: ss comments though. If all you have to do is bash the guy, what's the point of even posting? It's a good thing I don't rely on pictures when I read news articles or else 3/4 of the news I read, I would have to call BS since of course there is no picture to back it up.

Same actually now I've thought about it. I seriously doubted it earlier, but looking through theheadguy's previous posts, he seems pretty genuine AND as you've pointed out, the iPhone is VERY public...
