its great, although i can't do much with it yet seeing as the current version of iTunes can't sync with it, and the AT&T roaming charges in the UK are very expensive.

D50 + Photoshop = Fun!!!! - Yes, thats right i'm bored

FYI, having now spoken to theheadguy directly, he isn't lying. He's perfectly ligit, and actually a pretty cool guy...

This is the beautiful thing about living in America...Freedom of Speech.

That's nice, and totally irrelevant. Do you realize that this is a private server, and that absolutely every message here can be erased with no warning and for no reason, and you have no recourse whatsoever?

Sorry, it just bugs me that so many people have no idea what "freedom of speech" actually means. What it basically means is: the government can't shut you up. That's it. It does not mean you have the freedom to say whatever you want, wherever you want. It certainly doesn't mean you can start any topic you want. The mods could arbitrarily decide to delete all your posts here, and you can't do anything about it. You are free to start your own message board, of course.

If all you have to do is bash the guy, what's the point of even posting?

Freedom of Speech? ;)

im sorry i don't believe this

This is the beautiful thing about living in America...Freedom of Speech. If he wants to start a thread saying he saw the iPhone, than so be it. Whether he saw it or not, is something that I frankly don't care about and something I will never know for sure. I don't think there was any reason for everyone to make such wise :apple: ss comments though. If all you have to do is bash the guy, what's the point of even posting? It's a good thing I don't rely on pictures when I read news articles or else 3/4 of the news I read, I would have to call BS since of course there is no picture to back it up.

Er, you say that's "the beautiful thing about living in America", that he can post any thread he likes? But this is a global forum lol! Anyone can post anything anywhere...

Anyway no big deal. With regard to the iPhone sighting - get a decent photo. Then this forum (and others) might just explode. If you're lying? Then again, the forums might explode...in more of a negative way ;)

It is a fact that there are people out there using iPhones. At this stage in Apple's development, it is reasonable to assume they have people banging on the devices every day testing out features, probably including people testing the device by using it as their primary phone.

However I would assume these people are based out of Cupertino, not Sacramento, which is the only wrinkle in the story.

 Well since you said so!

Again, I think proof is the only way we're all going to believe it...and if he doesn't have any, why waste the time posting his thread? For not asking questions about it?

Why would a freind of a freind possibly have one out in public. Sorry don't believe you, I'm sure apple gives untrustworthy people iphones who will then blag about them in the pub all the time.

You may very well be telling the truth, but I don't blame people for doubting you. Did you really think we would believe you without proof? We don't even believe those who do have proof. :p

P.S: Getting mad that we don't believe you doesn't help your case. ;)

If you listen to the Team America theme tune, you can quite clearly hear that the internet is American.

Which does make me think the OP did actually see the iPhone. This is a pre-announced, pre-demonstrated Apple product, not some secret device speculated about on the rumour sites. I can quite believe certain members of their business sales team have been given the phone to show off when meeting major customers and suppliers. And Sacramento is hardly half a world away from Cupertino.

that's what I think, too. It's certainly possible because it's not like this is a product that's still under NDA or anything like that. People saw and touched iphones months ago at macworld. It's really so hard to believe that there are a handful of them given to people with an inside track? I'm not saying it's true, but it's not like claiming to know someone with a 4-core macbook pro.

I know someone with a 4-core MacBook Pro...

I believe it's possible that it is true, but I also don't care. I know that there are other people out there who have an iPhone, and I know them just as well as I know this guy in Sacramento. It truly does not matter to me, and shouldn't matter to anyone else here.

As for wanting to be famous on the internet, why bother? Most people who are "famous on the internet" receive all sorts of negative reactions, including prank phone calls and other less pleasant real-world mischief.

If you need some sense of worth, learn to play an instrument or go adopt a dog from the local shelter. Claiming to have touched a soon-to-be-released mobile phone (regardless of whether or not it is true) for attention is pathetic.
