People said that about the iPhone also and typing works just fine...Im sure it will take some getting used to, but well worth it in the end

That's what I was thinking when I read the post. I HATED the iPhone screen keyboard when I first got it...really thought it was ridiculous compared to my 'hard key' cellphone (Treo) that I had. I also had a Razor that I would put the SIM in when I needed something small for the pocket and I thought the iPhone was a chubby little bastard compared to it.

But after using it for a few weeks and the app store coming online I found out what it could really do. The 'thumb' typing can still trip me up (I have fat thumbs) but it became less of a problem as time went on. Then the apps kicked in and I was amazed at the power. Never looked back and never felt I compromised. Now, everyone in the family but me has a 3g (never felt the need to upgrade from 2g). Just found out my company is switching to Crackberry's on Verizon. Since it's free...I will have to park my beloved iPhone...until we see if the rumor is true about a CDMA version.

FWIW...I got the mini-bluetooth keyboard 2 weeks ago just in case I need to do anything more than 'text-back' length documents. This is about the only thing I am questionable about. Like another poster said, I'm in it for the touchscreen. I have a macbook and some netbooks. None of which I would call 'comfortable' for large documents. That's why I have a desktop.

Still...WHERE'S THE UPS GUY !!????!! :)

I imagine it will take a little while to get used to. If you have ever used a laser keyboard, I imagine it will be similar.

Besides, my expectations of this thing are nothing more than a glorified eReader.

Now I'm sitting here debating whether to go try to get one from my local BB or wait for my 3G version.

The iPad is really about consuming and creating.

Much more on the consuming side. The iPad is a multi-media consumption device: Music, Movies, Books and Games; apple can try to market it as something more with apps like iWork and keyboard accessories, but it's not yet a laptop killer; more so a Kindle/ebook reader killer. I'm waiting for more storage and a built in camera to meet my consumption needs.

Wow, are you serious? I do not make 100,000+ a year and I'd hardly call the bestbuy get-up a uniform.

I didn't realize the "snob" attitude was in full force

Yeah...I'm a fanboy and as anyone has noticed I have flamed people for stupid troll tatics but I have no problem with your post. It was based on you actually using it and how you felt. I am concerned about learning to use the virtual keyboard but it's not a dealbreaker.

As far as someone attacking you...yeah..that was uncalled for. Lot's of people wear 'uniforms' in their job. I was in Uncle Sam's Underwater Canoe Club for 10 years and I wore one (and got to carry a weapon :) ). I still wear one but it's because the job I have now is running a machine shop. Better to crap up rented $10 a week golf shirts and Khaki's than my own clothes.

Having said that...How was the performance? Snappy like the vids? How many did the BB guys have? What about cases? I plan on doing yard work :( until the UPS guy get's here. Then head off to the gun range for paper punching...was thinking about going by the ASC BB close to me and picking up a case (prob the Apple one).

Thanks for your input Lakeland...and you other Apple faithful give the guy a little break ok? He's posted good stuff and opinions definetly not like SamCraig or Dave1812.
