Very Nice. I am assuming unless I want to unlock, Iam good at 2.4 and do not need to re-jailbreak since everything works.

AIUI Ziphone 2.5 is to unlock the new 1.1.4 firmware:

"ZiPhone 2.5 is now on download site for you all to enjoy.
I suggest you to do a restore to 1.1.4 not an update. Because installer keeps old installed apps in it's cache and you would have problems.
Hoping people at conceited software resolve that soon.
After restore to 1.1.4, just use "ziphone -Z Y" or the first button on GUI versions.
Zibri."

I guess I better restore and do the ziphone 2.5 then.Thanks.

Update: I've tested youtube, mail, phone, sms, locate me, weather, itunes. It all works perfectly find for me. ymmv.

Anybody know how to unlock, act, jb WITHOUT downgrading to 3.9? I'm not too keen on this method, and it seems like that's how zibree's accomplishing this. I have a feeling -a -j -u inside advanced options will still downgrade the BL.

i have a non jailbroken iphone 1.1.1 and i finally want to jailbreak and unlock it. Do i upgrade to 1.1.4 in itunes and then press the do it all button in ziphone 2.5? thanks

Will Ziphone 2.5 automatically downgrade the BL to 3.9? Or do I have to this first before unlocking?

ziPhone?

Hey everyone

Ok just bought an iPhone I'm att 1.1.4 never jailbroke it or anything my carrier is AT&T I've been reading up on this ziPhone thing and just have a few questions hoping one of you guys could help answer..

1: if I do this ziPhone thing is that the same as jailbreaking it so I can run the 3rd party apps? and as for my OS/computers Linux and XP pro sorry no :apple: yet :(

2: if the ziPhone does work and i'm hearing it does will this affect my actual phone or does everything just work as normal

if you could help me with this then awesome and thank you

I have an OOTB 16 GB iPhone and used ZiPhone 2.4 command prompt in terminal to unlock it on Wednesday. I have seen that to upgrade to 1.1.4, I need to restore to 1.1.4. How do I 'restore to 1.1.4' if my iPhone is running 1.1.3 OOTB? Do I have to download the update manually or something? If so, where can I download it? Thanks!

how would I be able to upgrade my unlocked only iPhone can anyone please list the step so idont done lose my apps and contact thanks

Unfortunately not. Even an Upgrade will remove them. If you use ZiPhone they say that you should restore to 1.1.4 and not upgrade. Shouldn't take too long to reinstall the apps.

I was looking at the new ZiPhone 2.5 and the wording in this version gives me the impression that to unlock your iPhone ZiPhone now downgrades the bootloader to 3.9, which I don't want to do, and ZiPhone 2.4 did not do this. Can anyone confirm that BL 4.6 stays if you do an unlock with ZiPhone 2.5?

After running Ziphone 2.5 my modem firmware still shows 04.04.05_G, same as my other non unlocked 1.1.4 iPhones.

Why is it a problem for it to downgrade?

I just did it and my T-mobile, sms, edge, maps with the location thingy working, etc. seems to all be working. It was easy and my phone feels snappy!

Because you can't go back, and downgrading the BL can brick your phone, which is why apple doesn't do it with new firmware updates for older iPhones.

So does Apple not upgrade it with new firmwares? If not, surely if they don't do it we shouldn't worry that we can't.

Well what about my contacts :(

Do you sync with your mac address book? I just made a backup of my stuff in iTunes. It asked before I restored it and then when I hooked my iPhone back up iTunes asked if I wanted to restore from the back up file I made. All my contacts email settings etc. are there now.

I was running 1.1.2 OOB UK (upgraded to 1.1.3) with BL 3.9 and unlocked. I restored to 1.1.4 in iTunes, used Activate and Jailbreak in the new ZiPhone and everything works fine, my O2 pre-pay card still works, YouTube, mail, Safari, iPod and even EDGE (with the 1.1.3) fix all works too.

Nice update!

EDIT: I should say it didn't work first time, it jailbroke but it was stuck on the "Slide for Emergency" screen, that was when I used the one-click Jailbreak and Activate option. After a second restore to 1.1.4, and doing it by checking the Jailbreak and Activate boxes, it works perfectly.

No it downgrades the BASEBAND (this controls the phone features) NOT the Bootloader when you choose to Unlock a phone that has a 4.6 bootloader. This is because the Baseband that came with 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 could not be unlocked but the one for 1.1.2 could.
