Thanks for the tip - tried that and it wouldn't work.

I just opened the page up in Firefox, then clicking on the link it saved the binary file to the desktop. Then clicking on that it created the app.

Now waiting for my friend to get here to upgrade his phone and re-unlock...

Somebody must have written an installer script for it. Thats a lot easier than when I did it, although all I had to do was SSH into the iphone and run a shell script. Did not take that long to run really. Good luck with the 1.1.4 update. I am certain you wont have any problems.

Well, just finished the upgrade my friend's phone from 1.1.1 (out of box) to 1.1.4.

It seems like it's getting easier and easier. (funny, with 1.1.1, I didn't even use a computer...)

1. Hooked it up to Mac (not his), saw it needed an update. Clicked "no".
2. Clicked on "Restore". Clicked prompts that it was okay.
3. It restored by downloading 1.1.4, and updated the firmware.
4. Ran ZiPhone, it put the iPhone into restore mode, and threw a bunch of text onto the screen.
5. Four minutes later, the earth was back on, and reconnected with T-Mobile.

He resynced with his Mac and he's back in business, but on 1.1.4.

I'm afraid to do it to mine because mine was 1.0.0 out of box and I updated it to 1.0.2 and unlocked it way back when. Just over a month ago I had to virginize, then I did the long process to 1.1.2. It works so I'll stick with that...

Installer problem

Thanks for your quick respons to my problem.
Just got another little problem, I have downloaded installer.app from from Nullriver for my firmware 1.0.2 but when I run the installer it stops at about 80%, I have waited for about 10 min and gave up. Is it meant to take that long? When I look at the log details it says it is supposed to take several minutes, but not sure if it's just not working.

Should I go to jailbreak.com instead and run that installer even though I have got firmware 1.0.2?

Thanks,

Vanilth

Hiya,

I have got an 8gb unlocked iPhone with firmware 1.0.2. I am wondering how do i upgrade the firmware to 1.1.4 and keep it unlocked.

I bought the iPhone already unlocked so I have never done this before.
Do I need to put installer on my iPhone before I update it in iTunes to 1.1.4 and then use Ziphone 2.5 to jailbreak and unlock?

I would be very greatful for any help with this.

Thank you,

Vanilth

I just recently upgraded an iPhone from 1.0.2 (8 GB model, unlocked via the "dirty software" way)

So, I had to "Virginize" first (from: http://iphone.unlock.no/#already-unlocked-virginize)

on iPhone
1) Set Settings → General → Auto Lock → Never
2) Start Installer and install BSD SubSystem found in System Category.
3) Go to Sources and tap edit and add http://i.unlock.no/
4) Now install "Baseband Downgrader" found in Unlocking Tools category. This will take around 5 minutes.

After that I connected the now bricked iPhone to a Mac (running Leopard, iTunes 7.6.1) and restored (not updated!) the iPhone to 1.1.4
iTunes asked me if I wanted to backup, which I did.

After that was done (took about 10 mins), I disconnected, and reconnected it the my Mac, and quit iTunes.
Then I ran ZiPhone (2.5.c) and did the "Do it all!".
Took a few minutes, and I was done!

Then I reconnected it, and iTunes asked me if I wanted to restore from backup, which I did. My contacts and SMS info was restored perfectly. I lost the mail data and music... Lost my music logically because I hadn't the musci on that Mac.

But, just do it!

- Virginize via i.unlock.no first
- Then restore via iTunes to 1.1.4
- Run ZiPhone, and "Do it all!"
:)
