You know, you could easily figure that out by going through my past posts and seeing videos I've posted showing bugs in Android. But with your bias I have a feeling you won't take too kindly to someone showing a problem with your precious mobile OS ;)

Care to pinpoint where I said that the feature to be implemented should only be the most requested one? I have not made such a limitation. I have not at all said only one feature should be added. That is you making stuff up.

You say the file system is already there, but then say you want something that doesn't work like a full file system. Stop going around in circles and make up your mind. Do you want a full file system like you have stated multiple times in the past? Or do you want a limited version that has now become your new argument since you can't keep anything straight?

----------

Sorry buddy, but a file system just isn't necessary and isn't something that a lot of average consumers want. Move along now little fella.

now you're just trolling... really? move along now little fella?
i have no attachment to any os

nice...

what I'm saying is not that hard to understand

without a jailbreak ifile would have limited access by nature... period

the file system is there... we just need an app to access it... is that more clear for you?

Maybe you should reread an earlier post:

I know tons of people who use both of those. Granted they are older, but nonetheless put those apps to good use.

Might I also point out a flaw in your argument. Stocks and newstand, being cloud based apps, you can't accidentally delete files forever. A finder app on iOS, some people might get into it and not know what they are doing. They could accidentally permanently delete files they need. Or, a more likely situation, they could be using an app to edit a document. Then in Finder see a document named 3278-157ah37b (or some name they don't recognize) and not know what it is so delete it. Then once they open that app they used to edit the document see an error saying it can't find the file.

I know plenty of people who have had this happen to them on Android. They need to free up space so they think they will download a free file browser and delete the stuff they don't use. Except the problem is they don't know what files they use or don't use because the apps that use those files don't explicitly say. So they end up deleting files they want to keep. It may never happen to you or to me, but we do not represent the average consumer. And this has happened many times to people I consider average consumers.

Having a completely open file system that is shared between all apps paints a pretty picture. But it opens up huge problems to the average consumer that can ultimately hurt the user experience.

Convince me how accidentally deleting files you need brings a good user experience and I will say you are right. Good luck.

Haven't we argued on behalf of these major corporations software products for long enough now? Give it a rest. Use what you want, and if someone else uses a different product - that's cool.

I switched to iPhone after years of Android hell

That says more about the user than the system.

Get rid of redundancies and voila! I don't have any of these issues because I use one app per task. Why one would pull a picture through 5 different apps on its way to Instagram is beyond me and isn't a product of the system itself.

I have no doubt.

Joking aside, Instagram's native editing is poor at best. Other apps can do what it does much better plus other things. And since you are generally starting with a questionable photo anyway (phone camera) you not need to add more graininess and or artifacts too it.

Even if you don't edit a photo you'll have the original and the Instagram version left in your Photos. So I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. Unless you use the camera app IN Instagram....lol.

And as far as other files. I'm not one to settle. If one app is better for reading a PDF while another is better at editing it and another is better at emailing them. Well I'm going to have 3 PDF apps. Sorry but I'm very particular when it comes to software and hate things that are half assed.

I don't use Instagram period lol......

And no reason to be sorry. I understand my way isn't the highway. I just put it out there as an example of one way in which the current processes work fine and don't hinder a user (me).

I personally feel that something like the "Finder" concept posted in that thread would be ideal and would meet the expectations I listed previously in this thread.

Easy to see, use and understand. NO system file access. No "folders". Just a file (docs, pdfs, pics, vids...) view sortable by app the file is saved in (would be easy to see and delete dupes) and tags (a good way to tie those into iOS).

Again - let's move away from this decades old way of viewing and saving files....Keep the current save and storage methods the same (within the apps) - just give the user a way to view and organize files without going into the apps.

This does sound like a great idea. Keeps the iOS feel, but allows for the user to access the data and still have some manipulation of the file(s) within set parameters.

Is people still using the same arguments that they used in 2011?

Funny how bait threads like this attracts the same people with the same "horror stories" about Android "hell"

It annoys me. My nexus 4 is very smooth and is NY daily driver, this is coming from a 4 year iPhone owner.

My last Android phone was the Samsung S3 and I found that very buggy towards the end. Touchwiz just demands so much and slows the phone down for my liking. I would have thought this issue would have been tackled by now, yet my friends S4 appears to have a similar laggy experience, although he doesn't mind it. I kept hearing from people that I should root it or install this and that...... I shouldn't have to do that, it should work as it was designed to. The average user doesn't want to trawl the internet looking for guides on how to mess about with their phone to get it to work right, it should just work. Android certainly isn't rubbish, I am just happy I switched to iPhone back in late 2012. Android is good for techy types who enjoy playing with devices I think, I just can't be bothered with all that.

The iPhone is basic in comparison, doesn't come with a massive screen, and hasn't changed that much over the years, however it has remained very popular because of its reliability and the fluidity of the UI. I think both OS's attract very different people and that keeps the market healthy. :)

I reckon this has more to do with manufacturer skins than with Android itself. I've got a Nexus S (2010) running stock Jelly Bean and on the smoothness front, I'd put it on the same ballpark as the iPhone 4 (2010). I don't have a recent Android flagship but my inexpensive Moto G doesn't appear to be any laggier than my iPhone 5s based on UI. Indeed, iOS 7 appears to suffer from more glitches.

Funnily enough, I've actually found "reliability" and "fluidity" on iOS 7 to be worse than Jelly Bean. I sure hope that the iOS 7.1 update fixes that.

I have a work-issued Motorola Razr M and I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate that phone!

How does it suck? Let me count the ways...

Screen performance - Unreadable outdoors on a mildly cloudy day - you cannot tell if it's even on in direct sunlight.

Processing performance - Screen half rendered frozen mid swipe simply going from page to page of icons. And yes I cleared everything out of the task list.

Wireless performance - Dropped connection to my BT headset in the middle of important phone calls. Happens almost every day.

User Interface - Awkward to operate one-handed and the darn thing's SMALLER than my iPhone 5. I find it painful to navigate between the dialer and recent calls screens. I find the layout of the recent calls screen to be foreign and nonsensical.

I'll be getting an upgrade this spring, possibly a Samsung GS4 or maybe we will be allowed iPhones by then. Even if I can get an iPhone, I might opt for the GS4 just so I can keep one foot in both camps. The experience I'm having with this Razr M is a real deterrent to considering Android to be anything but a joke.

Phew, good thing there are far better Android phones than that Razer M! :)
