I'm being serious here. I read way too many negative posts in this forum. People bitching about their phone not being able to read their mind or skipping a single frame rate. Or not having the exact iPhone color they desire. Or the base phone not starting at 64GB. Or that their battery does not last through a 10 hour gaming binge.

I really think people who are unhappy about Apple's recent products should switch to Android for one year. Maybe then they will realize that not having 8k video isn't a big deal. And realize that paying a little more for the best is worth it.

Or they may realize Android is better for their situation. Either way they will be happier. They won't have to continue to bitch about what Apple should do or that Steve Jobs would never have done this or that. Or that Tim Cook is a bean counter. Or that Apple is evil and greedy and kills kittens for profit. I just don't understand people who continue to bitch and moan when they have all the power in the world to change their circumstances.

Just let people complain. Does it impact you in any way?

Switching to Android isn't going to help. Most of the posters here have been using iPhones for almost a decade! There's no going back, we've reached the point of no return.

The truth is, after owning every iPhone, the 6S isn't much to get excited about. None of them are if we're being honest. Get used to the whining, the average poster is getting more jaded by the year.

All of us that read and post here are probably in the 5% of iPhone users that I would classify as phone nerds. With that comes a passion about the phone (good and bad). I think that's why you see a lot of the extremes either way.

I think it is good to switch. I'm coming back from Android after two years. It does give you perspective on what's really broken vs the small stuff (cutting both ways).

Why are you even bothered by people bitching over a phone? This forum originates from a free country where there is freedom of speech. Everyone has the right to criticize a brand / phone they own. Without that a manufacturer will start to become lazy with their upgrades because then they'll know people will buy it no matter what.

I understand and appreciate that this is a free country. It just seems strange that in an Apple fan site we have so many Apple bitchers and Apple moaners.

But why do people continue to bitch and moan about a company and yet keep buying their products? Is that a new cool thing to do? Buy the latest Apple products so you can bitch about it?

Companies won't change just because people bitch and moan about their products. They will change when their bottom line is hurt.

Thank you for your insight. I also had the misfortune of using an Android phone for a year. Absolutely terrible. People don't realize how great the iPhone is until they are forced to use an Android for an extended period of time.

I have to admit that the continuous bitching and moaning of some people can get a little annoying at times.
But maybe I'm just easier in shoving it aside, and not being bothered by it too much.
I guess it's in the nature of people to moan about things.
Here in The Netherlands we know all about it.
Especially about the weather (too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry and so on):).

And that is really sad. People who have been using iPhones for almost a decade should appreciate the iPhone even more, seeing how much it has improved.

I think those who are jaded should really demo an Android phone for a month. Samsung is doing this for free.

Does the constant negative comments impact me in any way? I'll be honest it does a bit. I expect negative comments about Apple in an Android forum but here? On an Apple fan site? When over 50% of the comments are negative on a fan site something is wrong. Do you like hanging around people who are constantly negative?

Constructive criticism is one thing. But constant negative badgering is another. I hear constant comments about how Steve Jobs would not do this, or Tim Cook is a failure, or Apple is greedy. It gets really old after a while. We already hear those Meme lines in the general tech media.

Case in point:

In another thread someone said he was excited about getting the 6s. Like clockwork the majority of responses were negative. Couple posters called the OP a fanboy. Others quickly mentioned the 6s was the worst upgrade in iPhone history. The negative comments out numbered the positive 2 to 1. I mean seriously. Its almost as if there is a contingent of posters here who automatically post a negative comment when anyone says something positive about Apple. That is truly sad and pathetic.

I for one, think your point is well taken. A few years back, after having been a relatively happy iPhone user for a number of years, I was contemplating the purchase of my first tablet type device. The controversy surrounding Apple's unwillingness to incorporate flash compatibility into their iPads was near its peak at the time and I was ultimately persuaded to give the highly touted Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.? a try. What a mistake. If you want to talk about frustration, try waiting months rather than weeks for critical firmware and software updates (ones that you have to search out yourself because Samsung had no apparent means or desire to inform when they were available). Try owning a tablet for which (at the time) there was effectively no possible way to purchase or rent a movie to view at your leisure. Try owning a tablet that required you to do exhaustive research before purchasing any app just so you could be sure that the app was compatible with "Candy Cane" or "Candy Corn" or "Cotton Candy" or whatever version of whichever Android operating system that particular manufacturer happened to be using on that particular device at that moment. What a colossal waste of money it turned out to be. It did, however, give me a fresh perspective with regards to many of the 'grass is always greener' type complaints we hear on this board.

Using my mother as an example for the average iPhone user – that type does not exist here. As mentioned, it's the phone nerd or the guy why happens to use forums and wants to vent about a personal opinion.

My sister dropped the ball on payment of the family plan my mom has her iPhone on so my mom's service got cut off (my mom and sister live in two different states). So, she got another iPhone so she could have service. And she had issues with it.

She asked me about some of them and at one point we went to the Apple store. She asks me about issues with her iPad from time to time.

I never hear her bitching about "Apple this" or "Apple that" or how the color sucks or how problematic the phone is. She just deals with it and goes to the Apple store.

That's what the majority of people do I think. The exceptions post here.

IMO, the complaints aren't all bad. They cause consumer awareness of the iPhone's shortcomings, and in turn make Apple more likely to improve them in the next generation.

What I do find slightly more annoying on here are the Apple apologists. They'll defend any iPhone shortcomings, such as the 16 GB base model storage, with sales statistics, and are just as aggressive if not more so than the complainers. For reference: The 16GB iPhone is NOT a ripoff

I bloody hate the apologists, I use apple products almost exclusively however I am not one these guys that pretends they are perfect and that by using them I am a superior human.

I hate when someone posts a rational comment as to why they are an Android user and someone just comes along explains why they are wrong and why they should use an iPhone even though it has been explained why they can't or don't want to.

People pay more for Apple products because of apple's reputation for making excellent products, so it makes sense that people hold Apple to higher standards.
Face it, apple's software quality has been declining over the past few years and there is no denying that.

I would love to change to iOS if Apple offered a device that I deem acceptable. I currently use an Android phone and it works quite well for my needs but as I have a Macbook Pro and an iPad Air 2 I would love to just have the ecosystem as well as TouchID etc.

Unfortunately for me the iPhone 6S is
  • Too expensive for the 64 GB version (as the 16 is too small) here in Finland
  • Too slippery so extra expense from having to put a case or bumper on it (which also negates its perfect size for my hands).
  • No OIS is a minus but I can live with it
  • No black front + gold back is another minus but again not a big deal
  • Has those ugly bands so I'm not 100% on the design
Instead I've decided to wait for the 7 to see if the design of that is a bit better. I really liked the iPhone 4 and 5S designs for the most part but they're no upgrade to my Galaxy S4.

Apple has a lot going for their phones but calling them the best is a bit of a stretch. You can easily find Android phones that do thing X better or equally. With a standardized fingerprint API support coming in Android M, Touch ID is also becoming less of an unique feature.

Oh please. And you think your apologistic rantings are considers "positive" or "helpful" towards the product or the forums?

There's no format for expressing opinions. ESPECIALLY when it comes to consumers discussing products they own or intend to buy. And those opinions you deem to be "negative" are infinitely more constructive than excuse making for an individual users perceived deficiencies.

So rather than lecturing people on how to properly forgive their inanimate possessions then how about figuring out how to adjust your own personal sensitivity levels.

I switched to Android for a few years. I went from the iPhone 4S to the Note 2 (I keep forgetting it was the 2 and not the 3 so some of my past posts are inaccurate but oh well) and then to the Note 4. I absolutely loved the 4S, until it started tanking on me. The Note 2 was one of my favorite phones, ever. The Note 4, however, has been horrible. I won't bother to list the issues but there are MANY. I appreciate both ecosystems but am really excited to get back into the world of Apple.

There are pros and cons to both, but I have never had an issue with an iPhone until at least 18 months or so and since I change phones out yearly now, I know it's the best choice for me and probably will be for a long time. There is a great deal of appreciation, for both Apple AND Android, that can be gained by having experienced both.

I switched twice before just to try (first htc, second Samsung) and hated both times. iphone really is a superior experience/product.

HTC and Samsung suck. While their hardware may be nice, their skinned-software are horribly bloated and take forever to receive updates. If I switched back to Android, it'd definitely be with a Nexus, Motorola or Oneplus device.

While the iPhone may be a superior product, Android phones make a lot more sense for those who are already vested in Google's ecosystem. I'm not referring to just apps mind you. Gmail, Maps, Calendars and etc are all integrated very well on their card and notification system.

So why are my positive words about Apple products considered 'apologistic rantings'?

And now you can get an iPhone 6s for $100 off at Costco.

Like I said if you are price sensitive look out for deals and you can get an iPhone 6s with 64GB for $650.

skipping a single frame rate. Or the base phone not starting at 64GB.
You would be correct, IF ONLY apple didn't make us get used to the flawless interface animations we had, for example, in iOS 6. I mean, the 6 plus (which i have) is a joke in that department. It always lags here and there, and it's frustrating because it's a NEW phone. And not to be a complete moron, my GF has the 6 plus and she absolutely loves it, even on iOS 9 (which is even worse with animations and lags). So yeah, just because i don't like it doesn't mean it's complete bs, but we do have a right to complain. Not because we have a right to have better things just because, but because things were better and became worse. We don't want the impossible, we want it how it was back then.
Also, you can't pretend the 16gb version isn't ripping people off. I mean, it's a business and i understand why they do it, but let's not pretend that it's OK and apple is so cool, but the people who call them out are just whiners. Ok? They want that 100 bucks more for a 2$ chip? Fine. But we have the right to call that BS.
