I get your point, and I totally agree with your statements. I've seen people on iOS wishlists pretty much asking for every single thing that Android does, but they don't get an Android phone just because. I'm an :apple: fan, but I'm choosing an Android phone over an iPhone because I think it will suit me better. Don't get me wrong, I'm the sort of guy who it I'm picking a phone, I go through all of the things that could hinder my user experience, I don't look at spec sheets, because they tell me next to nothing about the phone. But if people really care about having 1440p screens, octa-core 2GHz processors, or 4GB RAM just get an Android phone, there are plenty of options out there. Because that sort of person is not who the iPhone is aimed at.

I'm sorry, but you joined on Saturday and you are already criticizing the posts you see on this forum? What are you comparing it too? You don't join a forum knowing what the posts are like and then complain that they should be changed...

I've lurked here for months before I signed up.

I for one, think your point is well taken. A few years back, after having been a relatively happy iPhone user for a number of years, I was contemplating the purchase of my first tablet type device. The controversy surrounding Apple's unwillingness to incorporate flash compatibility into their iPads was near its peak at the time and I was ultimately persuaded to give the highly touted Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.? a try. What a mistake. If you want to talk about frustration, try waiting months rather than weeks for critical firmware and software updates (ones that you have to search out yourself because Samsung had no apparent means or desire to inform when they were available). Try owning a tablet for which (at the time) there was effectively no possible way to purchase or rent a movie to view at your leisure. Try owning a tablet that required you to do exhaustive research before purchasing any app just so you could be sure that the app was compatible with "Candy Cane" or "Candy Corn" or "Cotton Candy" or whatever version of whichever Android operating system that particular manufacturer happened to be using on that particular device at that moment. What a colossal waste of money it turned out to be. It did, however, give me a fresh perspective with regards to many of the 'grass is always greener' type complaints we hear on this board.
what are you talking about man, your Apple agenda is embarrassing.... critical firmware update.. why on Earth does this even mean... exhaustive research in to whether an app if compatible with a certain OS.. what baloney.. on the play store, you can either install it or you can't.. end of.. 99.9% of apps are compatible with android 4.0.. 99+%of Android handsets on are 4.0 and beyond.. could you enlighten everyone bout this exhaustive research h pls...

I think people should switch to Android and find out for themselves what an intiuitive OS it is compared to iOS.

All i ever hear is about how garbage it is. It really isn't. There are plenty of garbage phones that run android on the cheap but the high end devices are bloody good.
It may be the carrier stuff that gets loaded on that people object to. I hear devices rooted to run pure Android are quite nice. There are also lots of derogatory comments about Touch Wiz. I didn't find it that bad myself but I did not have the opportunity to use it all day.

I used a Nexus 7 tablet for a few months before I got my iPad mini retina. I liked it very much but I did find some things that I was used to doing in one click taking more. It's been awhile so I don't remember well enough to give a specific example. Still, it was a very nice tablet for my purposes. Alas, it was one of my husband's work devices and had to go back to the office eventually.

When I saw Android on a smart phone about a year later I was rather taken aback at how much the carrier overlay on the OS. It was quite heavily branded by AT&T.

I think you have a defective 6+. My 6+ is as smooth as butter. Are you running 100 apps at the same time?

You can get $100 off the 6s at Costco. There will be many more $100 off deals in the next few months. You can easily get a 6s with 64GB for $650.
you obviously don't understand the concept of smooth as butter or constant 60 fps. for reference - iPhone 5 with iOS 6. THAT was smooth as butter. iPhone 6 plus has been lagging since it's inception, mainly because of the underpowered GPU (same as 6, but A LOT MORE pixels) PLUS the constant downscaling, which is even more stupid.
YOU might not see it, but it DOES lag.

P.S
I'm on my third 6 plus. The first one had blue and red screens of death (been told it was defective gpu, but whatever). on the second one the proximity sensor died. the third one is ok (downgraded to iOS 8, a lot smoother). all 3 have been constantly lagging. it's not TERRIBLE, but it's very noticeable. turn off your phone and turn it on again, put in your passcode and see the animation. it lags 99% of the time. it lags when you close and open stuff (reduce movement helps a lot, mainly because it's a stupid and very long animation to properly multitask [i.e open/close lots of apps quickly) and more rarely, it even lags when switching app pages.

Lol, I got told that quite a bit myself last year, that I needed thicker skin, that is. I did indeed go out and grow some and now I am quite comfortable here. Ack, but that photo. It's making me flashback to nights up with a colicky baby!

Indeed, it does. I've not yet updated to iOS 9. Is that helping any? I'm pinning my hopes on the IPhone 6S Plus having a better time of it. I don't know what's gotten into mine but it's gotten worse.

I'll concede that there's something off with my iPhone or the way I use it because my husband has the exact same model and loves it and thinks it runs smoothly. Mine has been a bit of a bear from day one.

Did you start fresh with your phone or restore it from backup of an older iPhone? My husband started fresh and mine was a restore. I wonder if that makes the difference? I do not have many apps installed. Nor left open.

for me it was worse, thus the downgrade. the "this is it" moment came after i hit update all (just 2 small apps), then tried to enter messages and it took 4 seconds to open it.
immediately after downgrading i was entering my apple id password and the keyboard felt soo smooth again. that confirmed it for me.

i still had the iOS 8 backup so it took about an hour to get everything back. Apple is still signing iOS 8, so if you think you want to downgrade you should hurry

Oh dear. I'm going to be doing some testing this weekend, I guess. My husband did the upgrade and says it's working well for him.

You know it's been this way from the beginning. Some of us, a cluster of us I would say, seem to have the same issues. Other plus owners do not and think those of us who do are crazy. I wonder what could account for those of us with issues? I've tried troubleshooting. When I get the new iPhone I'm definitely starting fresh. No restore from backups.

i bought 2 pluses, one for me one for my lady. she swears that her phone works REALLY REALLY great (buttery smooth bla bla bla, even on iOS 9) but when i look at it and play with it, it is EXACTLY like mine. (she had an android before, and a cheap one, for that matter) so i conclude it's just perception. some people are unable to see subtleties, some people think it's normal and don't know any better, some people get used to it, some people are blinded by the apple shine and think that it is IMPOSSIBLE for apple to fail. not once, not in any field (marketing cognitive dissonance)

Look. I still remember the threads when people were asking how to downgrade iPad 1 from iOS 5 to iOS 4 because it basically bricked the device. I mean, it's not even an argument, it was slow ASF if i might say. (Still have one, still the slowest iOS device i've ever seen) And even there you could find people saying something like "why would you do that, it's running GREAT on iOS 5, smooth and all" That tells me that some people are just plain blind.

I wonder what could account for those of us with issues?

everything i said before. i've had 3 pluses, and i've tried all the pluses in 3 apple stores in italy and germany (not OCD, just happened to be there and was curious). Every plus i've touched behaved the same way.

I understand and appreciate that this is a free country. It just seems strange that in an Apple fan site we have so many Apple bitchers and Apple moaners.

But why do people continue to bitch and moan about a company and yet keep buying their products? Is that a new cool thing to do? Buy the latest Apple products so you can bitch about it?

Companies won't change just because people bitch and moan about their products. They will change when their bottom line is hurt.

Bitching and moaning is pretty endemic to modern society, heck it's been that way forever. Go to ANY forum and people will be bitching and moaning about something. Interestingly enough YOU are bitching and moaning about people bitching and moaning, ironic isn't it?

hmmm. Looks like the same price to me.

Certainly not a fair comparison since the 6s is new, but even close to a year after release I'm still impressed with the value of my 6 plus. My Note 4 not so much, I'm amazed at how cheap they are going for, it's better to just keep it as a backup phone and a remote control for my TV.

I switched back to Apple as well. iOS is more primitive, but it has definitely advanced and in some ways partially caught up. I still have the same general overall complaint about Android, that sometimes it just doesn't work perfectly. The iPhone works perfectly for my needs, it rarely lets me down, where with Android I loved it, but inevitably something would let me down and not function right at the moment when I needed it most. Now keep in mind most of my experience is with Samsung, so I don't mean to throw Android under the bus, it's possible my difficulties were with Samsung. After having lots and lots of hardware and software issues with multiple Samsung phones I just got fed up. Crappy company with crappy quality control, great ideas though.

HTC and Samsung suck. While their hardware may be nice, their skinned-software are horribly bloated and take forever to receive updates. If I switched back to Android, it'd definitely be with a Nexus, Motorola or Oneplus device.

While the iPhone may be a superior product, Android phones make a lot more sense for those who are already vested in Google's ecosystem. I'm not referring to just apps mind you. Gmail, Maps, Calendars and etc are all integrated very well on their card and notification system.

Good to know, will give Nexus a try if I ever catch the bug to try something different although I an much invested in iMessages.

Lucky for me I get to have both.

I have a 64GB 6+ as my personal device and a Samsung S5 as my company device. After using my S5 for a couple of hours, I can really appreciate the design, look, and build of an iPhone. I love how well the battery idles and how apps don't crash like they do on Android. I love the beauty of the screen and the crispness of the pictures I take.

But then again, I am in the wireless industry so I get to play with these toys and have these reminders all day long. Makes for a more honest and clearer perspective.

LOL. I'm not sure what was so difficult to understand about that post. As I said, this was a few years ago. At that time all the major tablet makers were utilizing slightly different variants of the Android mobile OS. When you would be shopping for apps, you had to pay close attention to the reviews where the customers would reveal which OS variants worked best with which apps. The wrong combinations would result in glitches of varying severity. I purchased one game which loaded fine, but wouldn't launch at all. After several emails going back and forth with the developer, it was determined that my version of the Galaxy Tab fell into a particular manufacturing window that had some relatively minor flaw in its programming. Several months later an update was released that rectified the problem and the game worked fine from that point on. This was described as a firmware update. Whether that's accurate or not, I couldn't say. I can only tell you the terminology that was used. It was also the case that when I purchased this tab, Samsung had not yet developed their movie sales/rental site and the tab was incompatible with all the other movie sites such as Netflix, et al. I hope that gives you a bit of insight into some of the frustrations I encountered.

Oh I see, I get you, when in a debate about if folk should switch today, you are talking about problems of years ago.. Awesome.. Relevant much ? Should we go on about how the latest iPhones havnt got 4g, because the first ones didn't?. Oh but they have, because issues of years ago ain't relevant now. Glad I've cleared that up for you..

All I was pointing out is that I'm someone who actually did make the switch, rather than just talk about it. It strikes me as relevant to the discussion at hand since this topic seems to come back up again year after year. My experiences were what they were. And I was completely up front from the very beginning of my post in saying that this switch occurred a few years back, in my case. It just made me appreciate the relatively seamless integration and compatibility that Apple is able to build into their products. That has great appeal to me. YMMV. There are other areas in which a feature of a Samsung phone might excel. I don't think anyone here has denied that possibility. I'm just not sure what it is I'm saying here that would cause you to get so upset. We're only talking about phones. If you like another one better, that's fantastic; use it in good health. And I'm sure the Android device makers have improved in many of the areas where they fell short a few years back. I just haven't seen the killer feature in them that would make me want to give up what I've now come to value in the Apple offerings as a result of having sampled both worlds.

Apple sucks. Don't buy their latests and greatests. At least do not look at Calendar icon on Mondays (in Poland). It is too expensive, they do not test their own products!
