Yes, and it costs $150 less than what the Air-4 sold for new.

A used iPad Air 4 is a better iPad, but then you might need to add $99 to have its battery replaced. And you might have fewer years of OS updates. Different keyboards too.
How would it get one less year of updates, the iPad 10 and Air 4 uses the same SOC. Not only that, if you want to update from an iPad 10 to an Air or Pro, you can't use the Smart Keyboard Folio since it's only made for the iPad 10. At least with the Air, you can use the Magic Keyboard and Smart Folio case with the Pro, assuming they keep using the same pin layout for accessories

Stop trying to convince the iPad 10 is a better value, it's not. It's basically the Road Apples of iPads at it's current price. It's a terrible value and anything else, an iPad Air 4/5/2018 Pro 11/ 2020 Pro 11 is better for around the same price or cheaper.

It’s a decent value in the US if you don’t want to buy a used iPad Air or don’t use the pencil a lot. Has a lot of upgrades over the iPad 9. You don’t like it so don’t buy it.

I disagree, for the price, the iPad 10 is a terrible value especially when you can get the iPad Air 5 for a little more or a refurbished Air 4. It would be different if it was priced at $359 or 399, but 449 is approaching iPad Air prices. The value proposition is poor given Apple gimped the screen, wifi, usb, and Apple Pencil support. The fact that it still uses the Apple Pencil 1 is egregious.

Nobody should be defending this iPad at this price point. The iPad 9 is a better deal if you just want a basic iPad.

It looks less good value while those other models remain at that price. I expect next refresh we'll see some price increases on the higher-end products as well as more meaningful upgrades.

I disagree, given the strange choices Apple made to make it very unappealing and a bad value. I don't see why people should defend the choices Apple made with iPad 10 and jacking up the prices. There are better value iPads compared to the iPad 10, even an iPad Air 5 for a little more, which give a better experience than the iPad 10.

The iPad 10 is a ripoff and a bad value at it's current price and you know it. It should be $350 at most.

Case proven:

Yep. The iPad 10 clearly exists only to upsell to the iPad Air. That’s why people are critical of it. Because it is obvious that Apple released an intentionally poorly-valued product mainly to sell a different higher priced product. It’s gross.

I disagree with your disagreement. You sound upset that you cant get everyone to say what you want them to say.

Though the people like us in these forums pick them apart, the real world truth is that these will sell very well. Period. The target market for this iPad, even more so. Most will never even plug it into a computer or a peripheral device to it and care about USB speed. Most couldn’t tell you what a laminated display is.

I still don't agree with that assessment as the iPad Air 5 goes on sale can be had for $519, which is only $70 more, which gives a much better experience for not that much more. With the iPad 10, you are getting a gimped experience compared to the Air 4 and currently, it's a bad value.

Also, I disagree with your disagreement too. I just want people to get the best value and at the price, it's obvious that Apple wants to upsell people by making the base level iPad unattractive. It's obvious you defend Apple putting out inferior version of the base iPad while jacking up prices. I think Apple should be making the best value products at the best value, but the iPad 10 isn't it, especially at $449. Likewise, the same can be said about the iPhone 14, releasing the same phone with the same SOC, with a few minor improvements while jacking up prices outside the US.

As I said, if it's 329 or 349, the iPad 10 being gimped wouldn't be an issue, but at $449, its in an awkward place in the lineup since it's a bad value for what it is with it still using a non-laminated display, Apple Pencil I in 2022 (this should have been killed off in this version and replaced with the 2), and a keyboard case that only works on the 10 and worse performance compared to the Air 4 using the same SOC.. It's obvious that Apple intentionally made the product worse to drive people to the more expensive models, instead of providing the best value like with the iPad 9.

I want Apple to make the best value products as Apple currently has the best ecosystem. Also, I own Apple Stock, but I don't mind criticizing them when it's warranted. In this case with the iPad 10, they do deserve criticism as this is a bad value product that they intentionally made worse, when it doesn't have to be this way.

It's value is fine compared to new iPads, but a used iPad Air can be a better value. Similarly, a used iPad Pro can be a better value than a new iPad Air. Thats just how used vs new works.

The thing is that target market is better served by the iPad9, which they will most certainly get over the iPad10 considering it’s $120 cheaper. And like you’ve pointed out, they don’t need anything new the iPad10 has over the iPad9, or those things aren’t worth the premium and are things they can do without.

There’s plenty to like about the iPad10. If only it was $350, that will shut us all up.

Yep. It's only in the bubble of the forum world that you'll hear these devices trashed and hyper-analyzed. In real life, they're perfectly good devices that tons of people will get much productivity and enjoyment out of. Let us know what you decide!

My guess is that like the iPhone 11, this will be one of those products that sound terrible on paper, but turn out to not be an issue in actual real world use.

Nah, I did my research and watch the reviews to come to my own conclusion the iPad 10 is a bad value instead of blindly defending a bad value product, which the iPad 10 is. That is why I decided to get a used iPad Pro 2018 for my little sister that is in nearly new condition, aka barely used as that is a better value than a iPad 10. Even looking at the available options, the iPad Air 4, which some retailers are still selling new can bee got for almost the same price as the 10 or less or iPad Air 5 for $70 more.

This doesn't invalidate the fact that Apple priced the iPad 10 too high along with the perplexing design choices (non-laminated display, still using Apple Pencil 1 in 2022, and a keyboard case that only works with the iPad 10). It should be 329 or 349, but they didn't and it deserves criticism for being a bad value when better alternatives for not that much more provide a better value.

You can buy an iPad Air 4th gen for $335 on Swappa (Good condition). That's a $114 difference for arguably a better tablet (Air 4, that is). Heck even the iPad Air 5th gen on Swappa starts at $423, which is about the same price as the new iPad. If you REALLY care about the new keyboard or landscape camera, then all means get the new iPad. For my money, I'd much rather have an Air 4th gen. or 5th gen. (which btw 5th gen. goes on sale for $519 - much better deal).

If you can get and trust a used Air-4 for $340, def get that one over the iPad-10 unless, as you said, you prioritize the keyboard, camera, or 5G.

I’ve run a two iPad setup for a while (12.9” Pro, basic iPad). I tried the new iPad in the store - really liked the form factor and the landscape front camera. The rest of the device seemed fine, and the colors are good (though I would likely choose silver if I bought it). I was not able to test the folio, but I could imagine using it a lot, and breaking off the keyboard too. The only downside for me is laminated screen, but the screen is fine (I have bought and lost several pencils of both generations, I just don’t use it that much).

I think I will buy!
I’m going to purchase a 256 with a Logitech rugged folio keyboard case for my daughter for home school. USB c, upgraded GPU, landscape camera is worth it alone. I appreciate the screen being non laminated for low-cost repair. T-Mobile has $0 down $25 a month no interest for the 64gb or $150 down, $25 a month for the 256gb. They also have educational discounts that I need to look into for a further discount.

aaaannd now the sales are starting. B&H has the 10th gen iPad for 399. Like I said, Apple has a way of using sales and discounts thru other retailers to get their lineups to make sense.

^ they always done sales and such but it always starts with Amazon

And heck even A10X iPads are better in over half to most ways than iPad 10, just wish Apple releases a lightning to USB C adapter running 3.0 speeds for that to really be truly better lol

I ended up buying it in yellow, paired with the logitech crayon. Enjoyed the first few days of it. I got the 256G/cell version, considering returning it for the 64G/cell version (not sure I need all the storage for what is a secondary ipad).

I was looking at this for $399 on Black Friday- but ended up ordering the Air 5 for $499… the spec bump was stark with the m1 and 8 gb ram…
I combined the purchase with an Apple Pencil 2 that was $40 off at Best Buy- not a bad Black Friday haul!
As long as its in your budget, the m1 iPad air is a great machine and a pretty decent upgrade for the $100 price difference

At least for the german market you can say that nobody buys it. Amazon is a big seller for IPads and they only got 36 reviews as of now, and from these only a few are verified buys. This seems like an absolute disaster when talking about sale numbers. The former iPad 9th had hundreds of reviews within days.

I don't say it's a bad product, but the price is grotesquely high. And as it seems, the big majority of customers did not excuse it with "it's from Apple" this time. Seems like the market divides slowly into absolutely high priced items and budget. Those in between can't catch customers, as the technology has matured so much that people don't pay a fortune for basic tablets/phones anymore.

I also dont get it.. People that buys iPad 10 over Used iPad Air 4 are like those people who were born Yesterday.
Even both devices are A14, others said that iPad 10 is even slightly slower in power than iPad Air 4.
If people buy iPad 10 over iPad Air 4 they will lose:
1. Better and Louder Speaker (iPad Air 4 has wayy bass, louder, and better sound seperation than iPad 10)
2. Deeper Black
3. Anti Reflective Coating
4. P3 Wide Color and Laminated Display
5. Magic Keyboard Compatibility
6. Apple Gen 2 Compatibility.
7. Most iPad Air and Pro Cases won't fit on iPad 10.
8. Better Wi-fi Reception.
9. Slimmer, (iPad 10 is bit heavier)
10. Thinner BEZELS. (iPad 10 has thicker bezels in side.. does making the screen size look like smaller than iPad Air 4)
