The Fan club says....................Apple does no wrong ever. Wanting to ban someone for a opinion or view or purchasing decisions sounds so sickening & lame and anti American and very Republican.

I just ordered a Dell because Apple has nothing that can do the same thing anywhere near the price. Apple has 1 machine ProMac the rest are gimmicks like no video card/ keyboards/mouse = hidden costs... or nice machine but you must get the monitor with it iMac. Some people enjoy a Machine that can play modern games but dont have $2000 - 3000 to support the CEO's at Apple, or some people need slots for whatever THEY are into.

Perfectionist did what he had to do, Apple offered nothing for him.

I also have a Dell coming because I wanted a built in TV tuner, apple hates the TV. Jobs has even made stupid comments on it in the past. This is Fact.
I also needed a modern video card because I support PC/Mac gaming not consoles. Again Apple's only machine was two footer iMac or ProMac. That was $1000 more then I wanted to spend this time around plus I own a Nice NEC monitor:)
Perfectionist you have to remember that the fanclub is just that, no reasoning, logical thinking or anything else can change its mindset. Reminds me of Republicans these days to tell you the truth. Stay the course!

Sad fact is Apple needs a consumer tower for people like us, they dont so we are forced to support Microsoft and some PC maker. E521 Athlon64x2 4200,1 gig,160gb,comes with real video card not silly integrated crippling, has slot for my TV tuner card and will allow me to upgrade the video card with a 7600 class.
We cant help it Apple doesnt want our business. Its not our fault its Apples.

^ Am I the only one who thinks he's just letting us know what he wants out of a system? He's not bashing the iMac, he pointed out several things he loves about it, he just wants it attuned to his personal needs like any of us would. He's not trying to 'win' anything (I'm pretty sure there's nothing to win  ) - Out of everything he posted, the only one that has merit in an all in one system (to me) is the vid card. I do wish we could have a truely high end vid card in our iMacs - but it's the price we pay for the small form factor. We'll see what 2008 holds in our future :D

Don't bring your fvcking liberal propoganda into this - it WOULD be sickening and anti American to ban this guy for making suggestions to the iMac. And I am a DIE HARD REPUBLICAN. Generalizations and criticism without improvement are what your party is founded on

Apple tried a mini tower in the form of the cube:( It was ahead of its time and people kinda hated it It was a big failure for apple as well as a mini tower for the masses. It's price and target audience weren't right and apples marketing strategy was pap! maybe they should release a neew cube for the new generation of mac users!

Heres some specs I'd like in a top of the range model:
Core2Duo conroe processor<<Merom if you like but then it will lose upgradability
upgradable PCI-X graphics card (7300 standard)
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM upgradeable to 4 Gb
250GB SATA2 HD with another open slot. Or maybe to 5400 2.5 inch HD's???
6x superdrive
airport (no bluetooth)
no LCD
crappy internal speakers

Cube form factor, iMac noise levels!
all for just $1000

Funk knows what you guys are talkin about ..... I'm from the U.K. !!

PS - What is as C2D ??

Core 2 Duo (the newest generation of iMacs). It's all good Perfectionist - I don't think you were trolling, just making observations. People like to overreact here ;) - I DO however think you expect a lot from an all-in-one, and I'm sure you wouldn't even be able to find everything you asked for in a PC all-in-one - but we both know Macs are great and superior to PCs. Hope your Dell can tide you over until another generation of iMacs :D

What party is that Im now a Independent DUDe and soon to be a Dell Dude:D Oh and I use to be republican but the goosestepping was bothering my ankles and my mind.

But in the end ended up with another PC from Dell cos :
- they are still a little pricey compared to similar spec PC's
- it has no option for a built-in TV card
- it has no option for a Top End gaming video card (ideally an ATI All In Wonder 1800!)
- it has no option for a SoundBlaster card
- the iSight camera is not adjustable ! (the whole screen needs to be moved instead of just the camera!) .... ideally, the webcam would be detachable and wireless too .... :)
- the iSight camera doesn't have a manual cover (to prevent me being paranoid that it may be on when I don't want it to be!)
- there is still room for improvement with the Apple keyboard and Mighty Mouse
- there is no built-in Multi Card reader (particularly SD card!)
- there is no option for a 2nd Hard Drive - for RAID or to keep a backup of important files in case the primary drive fails .....
- etc etc ....

And you forgot to mention that your are a Windoze hugging, Dell PC loving LOSER.

:D :D :D :D :D

I'm not really that mean, just having fun.

soon to be a Dell Dude:D

If I were you I wouldn't have bought a Dell - if you want a highly customized machine then build something from components - you get the exact machine you want and you avoid giving your money to Dell, HP or other big-volume PC maufacturers. Plus if you shop carefully it costs a little bit less.

I've never been a fan of PC OEMs - the only thing that the Windows world really has going for it is a massive aftermarket and homebuild potential. DIY.

I see no reason to bash the poster for not getting an iMac...I don't think he was trolling so much as expressing his desire for more flexibility in the current Mac lineup. There is some validity to his points, but there is some ignorance in there, too.

Firewire 800 is a great interface for external drives and there are nice options available for almost everything on his list except for the video card. Then again, the Geforce 7600 is a very capable card and handles a lot of today's finest games.

I wish Apple had a mid-range tower, but they don't, so it is iMac or Mac Pro. I will say that too many people want all kinds of flashy hardware features and expandibility options (most of which they never use), but forget about the OS. I would rather run a G4 based mini for my everyday work than a screaming Dell machine because I hate Windows to the very core.

The iMac wasn't my first choice, but once I bought the 24" model, I don't know why I felt that way. This thing does stuff at breakneck speeds and is the most competent all around computer I have ever seen. OS X is a joy to use and is amazingly powerful. This is a FANTASTIC machine...I may never buy "pro" again.............

I want to take the oppotunity, as a dyed in the wool mac supporter, to officially divorce myself from any and all association with the posters on this thread. This was the most entertaining thread I have read in a while and it had everything to do with the little boys who got their feelings hurt by Perfectionist's benign observation and started heaving personal attacks, I may have missed it but has anybody told perfectionist that their dad can beat up his/her dad?

Perfectionist, I hope you laughed as hard at the responses as I did.

What a bunch of pathetic self-important little men.

Just to many freebies, like Vista. I have a Alienware tower that I might rebuild for my son if he keeps the grades up. Needs a full motherboard set up. Plus I wanted something a little smaller, with less fans etc. Cube where art though?

In between checking out some cool Lesbian Porn :D I laughed my ass off !! :D

Seems the rumours of a proportion of Mac Dudes being @ssholes is true :D ..... and for such a pointless post its had more far response than expected !! :D

Yeah dude, you have serious issues, I mean think of the advantages of a mac vs a dell!

1. basically, everything that people have been complaining about Macintosh computers since 1984.

I love the iMac All-In-One design and was gonna buy a 24" cos :
- running an extra Windows installation seems practical and efficient now ??
- the price differential isn't as great as it used to be with Apples compared to PC's
- it seems to run very quietly if not almost silently :)
- it finally has a decent gaming video card
- it finally has decent speakers
- the frikkin thing is so damn sexy ! :D

Is there any chance that any of these features may be present in new iMac's ...... 2 years from now ??
want a bag of chips with that too?

I wouldn't view the cube as any more upgradable than the mini.

A US$2500 starting price for a tower design mac, mini starts at $599, imac at $999, Pro at $2500.... something tells me there is a gap in the line up.

Maybe the "Mac" tower design could go single cpu, 120gb hdd, 512mb ram, 8x super drive and a lower spec graphics card? No idea how you price it though, the imac prices would cause issues.

For some people the price of the Mac Pro is enough to turn them away, you go cheaper and its a non upgradable all in one unit or mini, or you over extend and get a pro, if someone comes in looking for something that is reasonably priced but they can upgrade later when the $$ are available they are likely going to a non Apple vendor as they do not have an option.

Like submitter I too would like a mac, but the only one I am interested in is the mini, but for the basic configuration I would want I need to spend just shy of US$900, and to be honest, at those prices I can do without. I can spend that much money more wisely, I won't say it should be $300 or anything, but Apple has a market it can't reach because the prices are an immediate turn off.

For the record, the only reason I posted at all was because I'm sick of these threads. I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a PC over a Mac if that's what you prefer, but the point of this thread is...?

I don't go to a BMW forum and say "I almost bought a BMW but instead I got an Audi because it was better...". You know what people would say? Good for you. Why do you feel the need to tell us?

Go join a Dell forum or something.

OK, That's it, you can officially go sit with the girls.

Little did you know that the rest of the board got together months ago and decided that we wanted a divorce from you.

:D :D :D :D

Oh yeah, and we want alimony.
