I’ve considered upgrading my 7th gen to an 11” iPP, but I can wait and see what, if anything Apple does with it this year. I’m perfectly content for now.

Not a chance this will happen in the 2022 iPad Pro, even if I would be pleasantly surprised. And I agree that hardware updates are irrelevant if Apple doesn't unleash a more powerful iPad software...

No. I have the 2020 iPad Pro and it will serve my purposes for a few more years. That said, what I may be interested in - IF APPLE DOES RELEASE IT (which I am not sure it will) - is n iPad Mini (with Promotion).

Still using my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 and I plan to keep it as long it keeps getting iOS updates. Even with the more powerful SoCs it doesn’t make desirable upgrade if iOS experience is not exploiting it.

I’m too busy waiting for the 2032 iPad Pro which:
- shoots holograms onto my eye balls
- comes with own fusion reactor
- comes with Apple Space Wand 3 support
- exports 200K Pro Res files fast while in zero gravity
- supports Magic Mindboard neuro-link for ‘typing’
- is able to deploy rotary blades and fly home using Apple Drone - if I ever leave it behind
- sends out alerts if robot killer squad is nearby (due to ongoing post-2028 robot uprising)

If half of these are Legit then I’m in as well. Just at 11” so I can still use my $300 Magic Keyboard.

That or a 14” MinILED MacBook Pro with M2 and HDMI 2.1

finished transitioning all my equipment to WIFI 6 and and OLED expect my iPad Pro. Heck even Nintendo went OLED with the Switch.

My next purchase for which I will set aside a whit of my monies is the Apple VR headset (Most likely the second iteration).

Not really buying into the incremental upgrades consumption cycle.

If you have to reside atop the bleeding edge, I would better hope for you that you can get a tax rebate on that spending.

OLED iPad Pro? Yeah, I’d buy one of those in the 11” size…

…when it comes out in 2024.

I won’t. Thanks for asking.

Btw your feature list is outlandish, not gonna happen, you must be new to Apple.

Here
I plan to upgrade solely because I’ve decided I don’t really like the 12.9” display size. I have no complaints about my current device except for “meh” battery.

Really, the only things I’d like to see are:
  1. MiniLED on the 11”
  2. MacBook Pro style MagSafe in addition to USB-C
  3. move the camera and FaceID to be on the horizontal edge

Yeah that wish list seems to be too optimistic to be realistic about the near future. Most of my hardware wish list was checked off by the M1 iPad Pro last year, but I couldn’t justify spending $2000 or $3000 on an upgrade (I live in Canada so prices are higher) from my 2020 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I don’t even know if I’ll upgrade this year, especially depending on if iPadOS 16 is a good update that finally breaks the iPad out of its software prison or not. I would appreciate having more RAM and storage though (I have the 512GB model), but I’m on the fence about upgrading. If I don’t upgrade, one good reason would be to wait for the OLED model in 2024. And Apple should seriously improve the battery life. It’s been the same since the original iPad. And also, moving the camera to the top side in landscape mode would be more convenient, but then again, it would compete for space with the Apple Pencil, so if they don’t do that, maybe at least provide a software update soon that makes it look like you’re looking at the camera. If iPadOS 16 is a huge disappointment again, I might be tempted to wait for a security hole in a future update and then jailbreak my iPad, or save up for a MacBook Pro

You’re not alone. Ever since the redesigned iPads came out 4 years ago I’ve periodically placed a cellular iPP 12.9 with 512GB in a cart along with all the accessories I’d need and looked at the price only to say $%# no. At some point soon probably, iOS will make the 2017 iPP’s obsolete but until then I just can’t stomach the cost to upgrade despite having the disposable income to afford it.

Some of OP’s wishlist items would only lead to even higher prices, and I just can’t see how that would be worth it without some major improvements in iPadOS.

I'm using a 2017 10.5" (with Smart Keyboard). The one thing that will get me to upgrade is an OLED display, but we're gonna have to wait for that.

The timing may actually work out though. The 2017 iPad Pros will likely get full OS updates until at least 2023. If OLED iPad Pros come out in 2024, that's a good time to upgrade, for me at least. Plus by that time my kids will have grown out of their 2014 iPad Air 2s, so I will be able to pass down the 2017 iPad Pro to them.
