I'm pretty happy to hear that Apple are cutting the prices on their iCloud storage plans, but did they say when? Their website still seems to be showing the old prices. And has anyone come across anything yet saying what the UK prices are going to be?

I'm wondering the same thing, came here to find out if anyone had read anything. If it's similar to last year, I think they should go live tomorrow. Otherwise it probably happen coincident with iOS 9 release (the 16th).

The only article I could find online talking about it was over at The Verge

Still not enough for me to jump ship from Amazon cloud.. $59 a year for unlimited data.

I'm waiting for this as well. My wife, who refused to let me buy her a Mac and ignored my warning to enable iCloud on her new iPhone, lost ALL her pictures due to a hard drive crash.

On a side note: Microsoft Onedrive only backs up the Documents folder by default. Who's bright idea was that?

I'm also curious about this. I currently only have the 5GB free, but if I knew that I'd automatically get upgraded to 50 for 99 cents I'd go ahead and get the 20 for 99 cents today. Any of you have experience with that? Or will I be stuck with 20 for 99 cents?

I'm also wandering when the new plan prices are going to go live. Also I currently have the 500gb plan at $9.99. Will I automatically be bumped to 1tb or will I have to go into the settings and switch it over?

Still too much money. I get the convenience of it all... but with photo and video being the bulk of the storage issue, Amazon still beats it hands down.

Ditto for me in that's the new prices aren't competitive on price with MS and Amazon. I'll keep my Office 365 account - $80 for a 5-install key number from Amazon with an Exchange email account, 5x all of the Office apps, and 5x unlimited storage.

FWIW, I've had my services with Apple upgraded several times over the past decade when they dropped the price - heck, they even gave me 18 months extra of paid MobileMe services after they ended that service.

I wish the apple website specified when the price reductions will occur. I have decide to do iCloud Photo Library and want to start right away.

I'm also thinking about dipping my toes into iCloud Photo Library. I went ahead and earlier today bought the 20GB for 99 cents thinking that once they do change it to 50GB for 99 cents, worse case scenario, I could cancel my current 20GB plan and re sign up for the 50 GB plan. I hope o don't get burned by thinking that lol. But this iCloud Photo Library stuff is really concerning to me as I don't want to have to upgrade storage beyond the 99 cent range... And I'm unsure if all the photos will fit in 20 GB storage or even 50 GB storage. I can't find a way on my iPhone or iPad to check to see how much storage my photos are taking up locally, I wish there was though because I'd like to "go all in" and still have room left for my backups. I have just over 4,000 photos on my phone and about 3,500 on my iPad. Anyone have any idea approximately how much iCloud space those would take up?

I've got about 2187 photos and 34 videos, using 4.8GB of space. Not sure how long the videos are to be honest, but I would say your total will be under 10GB for sure.

Oh wow ok. I want to thank you so much for your response. That really does make me feel better about the whole thing! You rock bro!

I think that's the only way they can do it if they are taking away the 500GB tier.

But very eager to find out the UK price drop date. 200GB for £1.99/mo (£24/yr I guess)

I'm still on the older pay scheme, £7.49 a year for 20GB, rather than 0.79p a month. I'll probably up mind to the 200GB when ever the prices are updated.

I would have thought you bought the 20Gb plan now it would automatically upgrade to the 50Gb plan.

What do Amazon offer? Is it with Prime?

have you not contacted Apple and asked do be priced the 0.79p price?

Whoa only ONE of those quotes was actually from me yet all of them have my username in them as if they were all me. Something is amiss here.

Despite Apple's love for £x.99 pricing, I'm guessing more like £2.49 for 200GB as I think the US price for 200GB has only dropped by $1 (65p).

I'm still planning what to do with the £6 this will save me a year :)
