Forget the minor vibrations, the real slap in the face is that they finally added a flash but the flashlight is missing from command center.

Ha Ha. Good catch.

(Is this a sign that Apple don't sweat the detail anymore?)

Complete bullsh*t. I just got back from the store and specifically tested one of the demo units for exactly this and found that the vibration factor had significantly decreased from the Air 2. Period end of thread.
I respectfully disagree, I wouldn't say it's significantly decreased. I think it's about the same intensity at max volume, just more evenly distributed through the chassis as there's speakers on both sides now.

Of course, it could be dependant on the type of song playing and whether there was a lot of bass involved (and even what volume the model you looked at was set at) attributing to our differing opinions.

And yes, I realise that the Pro has higher volume output than the Air 2. I was comparing both my own iPad and the store one at max volume. So the fact I think the vibration is very similar intensity is credit to Apple.

I blame the paper-thin chassis. Or a lack of sound damping. Whatever - its an issue that bothered many people so the "do-gooders" and "apologists" can save their comments about how they dont care. I do. :)

I guess you can call me a "do-gooder or apologist" as the vibration on my Air 2 didn't bother me. I now have the new pro and the vibration is so minimal even on loud that I wasn't sure if I was just imagining it. With everything else Apple I'm sure this varies among individual devices. My advice is to try one yourself and see if still bothers you. It's a great iPad.

The iPP97's speaker vibration behavior is normal, unlike the Air 2.

The Air 2 felt like it had a subwoofer mechanically attached to the screen at any volume level above minimum.

The iPP97 seems to project sound out from the speakers, not into the screen. There's a lot more sound power in the new model and yes, you can get the screen moving at high volume. But it behaves as you'd expect, you can control it with the volume.

So vibration is in no way a deal breaker for me with this model. And I was one who railed against the Air 2's implementation. If I don't keep the iPP97 it'll be more above size vs Mini 4 and not a vibration issue.

I personally don't feel like the vibration is as pronounced in the 9.7 inch pro as it was in the air two, but that might just be me. Perhaps I am able to keep the volume at a lower level and get fuller sound which results in less vibration?

I feel the same, has become a non issue to me.

No, iPad Air 2 vibrates at every volume level. Perhaps when you try music with more bass? If it still doesn't vibrate they've fixed it.

I agree. My Air 2 had vibration at every volume and after 4 levels you should feel it through the screen. I have played the same music on the iPad Pro and there does not appear as much vibration (though there is some) as in the Air 2 and I can't feel it through the screen unless I really blast it. Also, I cam able to keep the volume at a lower level and still get the same quality and loudness as the Air 2 on a medium setting.

I can fully see why the Air 2 bothered people, it was excessive. The Pro's vibrations feel more like a natural side effect of sound, not a design flaw.

Yes, sound does vibrate. However, the Air 2 at any volume over a few clicks acted like an 80's pager on a marble table. Trying to game or type while listening to music sent feedback through the screen and it was extremely irritating. And yeah, I know - "Use headphones". Thanks, lol.

OK, now this actually explains the issue.
I had never heard about this and was confused about how a speaker vibrating was a problem.

With the iPad sitting on my laptop stand cranking Spotify, does the vibration affect the sound in any way (distortion, etc)?

The problem with the Air 2 is that the chassis vibrates when the sound bar is as low as 1-2 bars. I sent mine back and got the mini 4. The mini 4 only vibrates at very high volume, but no where near as bad as air 2. Hopefully, when I try the Pro 9.7 inch it's more mini 4 when it comes to the sound vibration and not air 2, which is pretty bad even at low volume levels and for me unacceptable.

I will probably check one out at my local store just to see. However, there are other reasons I might not upgrade besides the vibration issue.

For the record, the do gooders or apologists are those that constantly defend anything and everything Apple does. Most people on these forums are not like that. I'm sure you're not. All good. :)

I personally couldn't care less. Does not bother me at all with my Air 2. But I know it aggrevates some people enough to want to rip their own hands off. So for all of you who are sensitive to the speakers vibrating I'll give you a warning that the speakers on the Pro 9.7" also vibrate. By the same amount as the Air 2. I checked it out in store today.

Just a friendly warning for y'all!

I have zero vibration on the 12" Pro. This thing is solid as a tank.

Sound = vibrations.

More sound + less vibration = more insulation = more thickness

The iPad Air 2 and Pro 9.7:
More sound + less thickness = less insulation + more vibration

Simple really.

LOL! "Known shill"? That's awesome!

They still don't vibrate.
Please just change your username to 'known shill' so that the forum newbies waste less time wondering if all your posts really are sarcastic :D

Why?? Any good reason?? Are you worried if your turn up the volume all the way up maxed out it will damage and might break the speakers?? o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
There's no reason to ever max out the volume on any device. I always stay at least 1 click from the top, but usually I stay about half way up the bar.

Actually you are completely false. Stop spreading BS. Yes the Pro speakers vibrate but not NEARLY as much as the air 2. On the air 2 you could feel the screen vibrate when typing. I'm listening to music right now at 60 percent volume and there's virtually no screen vibration. Even with the pro speakers on full the vibration is nowhere close to the air 2.

Thread closed again .......till some troll decides to argue some more.
