Down south
I realize the pro has better specs and face ID, etc. (I have an 11" pro myself), but if you bought one, are you wishing you had waited and gotten the new air?

Why or why not?

If I did get the 11" Pro, it would've been either 512GB or 1TB capacity (the latter most like). Those aren't options with the new iPad Air.

Mind, if Apple had released 512GB/1TB iPad Air for $849/1249, yeah, I probably would've regretted it.

Don't think they are really competing the same space. The Pro is a feature-rich laptop replacement device (increasingly so with iOS 13 I expect) while the Air is just a slightly more premium version of the iPad that happens to support the smart KB.

I had the original 12.9 and sold it. I had the 10.5 and sold it. I have a Verizon version of the 11 and i have to saw i really love this version. This is one of the best iPads i have owned. Seems a little powerful for what i use it for but i really wanna learn how to edit photos on this iPad. It seems, now looking at the new models that this iPad is the best of the best for now and i will probably hold on to it for at least the foreseeable future. I just got the keyboard and i love it. I also have the pencil which i really struggle to find a good use for it. I hope to find a good use for it soon.

I don’t see why anyone would. The 10.5 iPad Pro was always there and is the closest thing to the new Air. If someone made the choice to choose the 11” over the 10.5” then and didn’t regret it, I don’t see why they’d regret it now.

I'm of the same opinion. If you wanted a model similar to the new 10.5" Air last year, you would've just gotten the 10.5" Pro. For $50 more I would rather have the 10.5 Pro for the 4GB RAM, ProMotion, quad speakers, and the A10X (performance is negligible for CPU in both single and multi-core use but the A10X GPU obliterates the plain A12 - 29,000 vs 21,000).

I just bought a 10.5" Pro last month at the same price as the 2019 Air and don't regret it at all.

I bought and am enjoying my 11"!

Was thinking about getting the new Mini just to keep in the bedroom but when I saw they are not going to make a smart Folio, that was it for me. I may still but but not for several months.

Not "sorry" in the least!

I don't think they're really the same. My 11" IPP has support for the better Apple Pencil 2 with a superior charging/pairing system, a great Smart Keyboard Folio, the design is so much more better than the air (I love the squared/flat edges), I have 512GB of storage, USB-C support, ProMotion, rounded corners look elegant, better camera WITH flash with support for portrait mode/animojis, 2 additional speakers, and FaceID (it's so much better than Touch ID and you won't change my mind).

They're very different devices and the "Pro" designation shows that it's more powerful and not really in league with the regular models including the air. I love my 11" and I don't see me getting rid of it anytime soon. I'm actually getting rid of my 12" Macbook because I'm not using it anymore. lol

The only thing is sometimes I regret not getting the bigger 12.9 iPP. Lol

My 11” is still great, the hardware is much more modern. On top of that, I held an iPad Air 2 the other day and the bezels and square corners hurt my eyes. I will never go back to square corners. NEVER. :p

For me, my 11” is my total computer replacement. It handles all of my needs, and that’s only really possible due to the increased RAM and processing power. The difference is that the new Air will perform similarly to the 10.5” Pro - whereas the 11” and 12.9” perform better than several MacBook Pros.

FaceID on the Pro is welcomed, and the bigger screen makes a more viable replacement to a laptop.

Nah. I think a better question is: did those people who compromised and got the 2018 iPad, wish they'd waited for the new Air. Those two models seem closer and more comparable. To spend iPad Pro 2018 money you had to have a good reason, I think, besides just the processor difference. Perhaps there are some but I'd doubt many.

I know this is all personal need/want/opinion but the new air isn’t for me. I want USB-C, Face ID the new design Apple Pencil. The new Pencils charging solution is much better than the original one. If I had it to do over I’d still go pro. I know the new air and mini are great iPads, but after using the 2018 pro’s they make others seem like a step backwards in features.

Albeit at a hefty price:rolleyes:, i was sold on the Pro 11 for the pencil charging functionality , near bezel-less display, face id & a lot more

With that being said, the 10.5 inch Pro was a fantastic iPad & still is for most

I know they target different folks - I was just curious. I do LOVE that the new air has the regular ASK. The fact that it's a full folio for the 11" has kept me from purchasing it, and I'm bummed about it. The ASK was one of my favorite things about my first 2 12.9 pros.

I don't regret my pro, but I was just thinking that for the price tag, some might. I mean I don't really NEED a pro; my 2018 ipad (bought to get me from my older pro til new, smaller pro was out) could do pretty much all I needed. Since it's pretty much my only computing device though, I wanted the best. ;-p

No regrets here. I absolutely love my 11" IPP. Especially since I plan to hold on to the device for 2-3 years.

Hell no! I love my 11-inch Pro. Even though iOS needs some work the entire experience feels fresh, new and high end. The whole design change makes the iPad feel legit like a pro device from a hardware standpoint. Add to that seamless Face ID, and Apple pencil integration/design. Plus the new 10.5 is only 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB which is huge when it comes to the higher end apps like Affinity Photo. ProMotion is one of those things that once you use it , its hard to use any tablet without it. Makes using pencil even better for creative apps.

For everyone else though the iPad lineup is amazing if you don't need "pro" features.

Nope. Not at all. I have grown to love my 11” ipad pro even more if thats possible. I bought the 1TB model and i edit all my gopro video on it. It’s super quick. Just amazing. I draw on it. Write on it. The apple pencil 2 is so sweet. This is my first device with face ID, and i’m hooked now.

I think it’s great that Apple is offering more choice for all needs and price levels. So if the new 10.5” ipad air works for you, i say go for it. It’s a great deal.

But no regrets here. Bottom line is that if your ipad does what you want and you are using it fully & creating awesome projects on it, thats all that matters.

I’m really looking forward to iOS 13 and all the rumored improvements for the ipad pro. Opening up the usb-c to enable connecting an external HD would be huuuuge.

Nope. Love my 11" with WiFi + Cellular. I'm joined at the hip with it. The speed, the battery ,the feel, It's my perfect iPad.I LOVE that both my phone (iPhone X) and iPad do not have home buttons. I always had issues wearing those out.
