your title is confusing. based on your text, I assume you are questioning whether or not people are using maCs....but you have typed maX, which is a size of a phone.

I was using a Mac long before I had a phone. And often people in a household will share a single computer, but no one shares a phone. And I still use an 8+, which I suppose was the Max size at the time, but I would probably not get a Max sized one today.

Please edit your title to be more appropriate.

I'm 51 so I guess it's just what I know. I've had a computer in some form or another since 1980 (I was 9-10) when my dad brought the first one home. It's always just been what I'm most comfortable with.

Yeah I hear you! Computers are what I grew up with too. It's the way my may needs have changed through the years that has allowed me to use an iPad Pro instead of a Mac. If I was still building complex websites, and doing system administration, I wouldn't be attempting that on an iPad Pro yet.

When I first got an iPhone I used a Windows laptop. When I first got a MacBook Pro I had a Windows Phone, the switched to Android for several devices. I loved Apple’s laptops but I still prefer Android in a lot of ways. The only reason I have an iPhone is that Apple makes the best smart watch.

I first learned using an android device but I purchased several pre-owned [not from Apple] iPhones and iPads and iPod touches. I don't have a macOS device but planning to buy one in the future.

I purchased iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5c, 6s, iPad 2, 4, iPod touch 4th, 5th, 6th, and a brand new iPhone 7 Plus [bought in 2020]. Reason behind these old device purchases is the old iOS version they have, iOS 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

I have a Dell laptop that I have tried a few times to install macOS 10.14 Mojave and 10.15 Catalina [Hackintosh] but I use it more on triple boot of Windows 7, 8.0, 10 LTSC 2019 and Linux Mint 20.2 sometimes [separate drive for Windows, Linux, macOS]

Too many websites even to this day with the latest version of iOS Safari or any browser don’t work quite right.
Eventually you’ve got to do something on a computer, either a Mac or PC.
iOS still sucks in that regard. (And it’s probably intentional so people will buy more gear)

Yeah same here. I thought the questions was about Max Size- possibly the processor. Your post made me realize OP meant “Macs”

I would but your assertion is WAY WAY off.

We have about 500 iPhones in the company I work for (at least) and like... 3 BYOD MacBooks.

edit:
above is anecdotal, but we are a fairly typical enterprise. and personal life wise, I know far more iPhone owners than Mac owners too.
Yeah our entire company is built around office 365 (unfortunately) so entire company PCs so 1000s of them, but each person in our company has a work phone which are all iPhones. Macs are too expensive for entireprises. Yet I wonder what a cost analysis is for the amount of PC issues we have with windows 10/11 and office 365.

If I didn't own a Max…hmmm. I'd probably go back to my iPhone 6s+.

PS. I own two MBPs, but probably not the kind you're thinking. 2006 17" MBP and a 2008 MBP 15".

But I also own several other Macs, not just MBPs.

And PowerBooks and PowerMacs.
What’s the question ? If you didn’t own an iPhone max would you own an iPhone ? Like, if there wasn’t a Max iPhone would we own an iPhone ?

Considering I have an iPhone but don’t have a Max…yes, yes I would.

Oh wait you meant Macs. Well, considering I have an iPhone and don’t own a Mac…yes, yes I would.

I never actually owned a Mac until 2013 which is way after I became an iPhone user.

If I was to longer own a Mac there’s no way I still wouldn’t use an iPhone.

Macs are too expensive for entireprises.

I get it, but not really - if you compare a MacBook Air with the equivalent enterprise (as opposed to consumer) model of laptop from Dell, HP, etc. they're about the same cost.

The bigger thing is that most enterprises are already geared up to look after PCs, run an active directory environment, have a helpdesk trained on Windows, etc.

i.e., it's not device cost, it is the perceived ownership cost in terms of support, management, etc. Try to sell various business types on the idea that Macs generally don't need maintenance and they're dubious and its difficult to "prove" that without taking the plunge. Which nobody wants to sign off on, because they're too chicken to take the risk.

I meant the iPad more in terms of being the bigger screen computing platform of the future, as opposed to Mac which I regard as the legacy platform.
I'm glad Apple doesn't feel that way, because I don't want a touch screen when I can use a trackpad that doesn't require me to take my hands off the keyboard and I prefer being able to work with multiple apps in multiple windows. Granted, you can add a Magic Keyboard, but how many iPad users do so? On the other hand, if Apple fixes OS Monterey bugs and makes Universal Control available, then I might get an iPad to add to my iPhone and MacBook.

I'd still own an iPhone if I didn't own a Mac, because the only serious alternative is a Google product... Maybe one of those Windows phones if I think far back enough

I I always considered a MacBook the essential base of Apple in other words you know that’s what everything is connected to you know your messages and everything else so I figure iPhone users just had a Mac as the base for sharing and receiving.

You haven’t needed a mac for iPhone ever. Haven’t even needed a computer since 2011.

I’ve had over 15 iPhones. Never had a Mac. Considering iPhones outsell Macs by a wide margin I think it’s a safe to say most iPhone users don’t own a Mac. I do have a Surface Pro 6 and an HP Laptop.

If I didn’t have a Max phone then I guess I would just have the regular iPhone 13 Pro

What’s the question ? If you didn’t own an iPhone max would you own an iPhone ? Like, if there wasn’t a Max iPhone would we own an iPhone ?
Yeah, that's kind of the way I interpreted that. But then later someone suggested OP actually meant 'Mac' and not 'max'.

I’ve been a Mac guy long before being a iPhone guy (and I started with the 3GS!)

If I wasn’t a Mac guy I’d probably still own an iPhone though: I’m a fan of small phones and holding on to devices for 5+ years (still happily using a first-gen SE), which leaves me pretty much zero options in the android ecosystem. If someone managed to fit the guts and camera of a modern Android phone into the body of a Google Nexus One I’d strongly consider it though, 11 years on and it’s still one of my favorite phone designs of all time.
