I used this on my recent travels to Thailand. We took planes, busses, ferries, and boats, and this was an absolute lifesaver. If I felt the least bit queasy I would pop one and in just a few minutes feeling better already. Since it's natural ginger, you actually begin to develop an appetite soon after the queasiness passes. I even gave out some gas to my fellow travelers when they felt uneasy and they would ask me where I got them from and I would direct them to here :) I actually ran out of them by the end because of my generosity, and couldn't find them anywhere in Thailand!! Would recommend 100%!
Whilst the iPad can do many things... I didn't realise there was an app for that!

I've actually decided to sell my ipad pro 12.9 2021 model as it's simply not getting much usage. I still have the £329 ipad 10.2 and given I mainly use my ipad pro for mainly media content/youtube/watching sports. I may look at the OLED ipad pro 12.9 next year to see if it adds anything else to make it worth having.

at present I use my Z fold 4 for alot of the tasks I used my ipad pro for and I also use my macbook pro 16 inch daily for more intense browsing and given the M2 ipad pro 12.9 at 256GB cost like £1300 now i'm basically paying over a 1k more than my 10.2 ipad just for mini led and 120hz

80% of my iPad use is with the Apple Pencil at work. I annotate documents and make quick notes. For that it is superb. I'm an academic and it has speeded up my workflow in a number of areas.

The remaining 20% is actually my kids using it for educational apps. I very occasionally use it to watch TV/Movies but I prefer the bigger screen of the MacBook.

I've always said if I had to lose one device it would be the iPad. It's a bit of a luxury. That said, as a tool for annotating documents with the Pencil it is superb and a bit of a game changer actually.

A bit of disclaimer - iPhone and iPad are personal devices, MacBook Pro is a work device.

I use my iPhone for:

1. Phone calls
2. Taking photos/videos
3. GPS/navigation when outside
4. Listening to music/podcasts when travelling/outside or working out outside
5. Public transportation live tracking
6. Messaging friends when outside (when at home I prefer to use my iPad)

I use my iPad for:

1. Browsing the internet and posting in forums
2. Reading (like to highlight and annotate with Pencil)
3. Watching YouTube in bed (otherwise I use my Smart TV)
4. Listening to podcasts in bed
5. Listening to music while working out at home
6. Digital planning in Notability with Apple Pencil
7. Messaging friends at home

I use my MacBook for work during the work day. I work from home and have dedicated room for this so once the work day is over, I leave the room and thus the MacBook in the room. I then use my iPad Pro for my personal computing needs. I do have personal laptop (Asus) but I have not used since months as it stays in the same room as the work laptop.

Overall I use my iPhone more when I am outside compared to when I am at home. I use far more my iPad when at home because it has bigger screen and I can use keyboard case to type/browse.

I love it for taking notes and annotating documents, I use an ESR digital pencil. But I never watch TV or movies on it, just social media video and YouTube. I like watching TV/Movies on my TV using the Apple TV. The iPad is actually quite versatile, people on this thread have shown me just how many things you can use them for.

I'm exactly the same. Before I purchased the iPad Air 5th gen, I used my iPhone and MacBook Air a lot, but since then I use my iPad mostly while at home, and the iPhone when I'm out and about.

This thread has inspired me to use my iPad more - I now use it at home far more than my phone, and am realising how much nicer (because bigger) my 10.5“ iPad Air 3 screen is over my comparably tiny iPhone 13 Pro is :)

I have an ipad pro 12.9 2020.

I use it for general browsing on the couch and read long-form articles
I use it in the kitchen when cooking
I use it for drawing (which is mostly why I went with the larger size)
I use it to do some light photo editing
I use it as a second screen with sidecar

Screen size is amazing. That's what sold me on my 16' MBP. While the laptop is pretty big and barely fits in my backpack, the screen is absolutely amazing.

I tried for a handful of months to just use my iPhone and my eyes just cannot handle more than an hour or two of reading on it - and it's not comfortable.

But give me an iPad 11' screen or a MBP screen and I can read all day long. :D The comfort factor is huge.

I don't know how some people look at their iPhones all day long. Gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Size matters when we have the choice. I’m certain that many here have dealt with critical matters on a much smaller screen/device than desired at that moment, being the only device at hand.

That said, this alluring thread is about the luxury of owning multiple screen sizes and devices.

Used to do that in my 20s. Now, I need iPad mini minimum.
Hey, lucky you - you were doing it at least when you were young. I have never done it to be honest. I have always used my phone for talking on the phone or for listening to music/podcasts while I am travelling. I was never about to do reading on my phone. Not comfortable. And I was never about to type a lot of chat on my phone. Not my thing.

As weird as it sounds my favourite ever phone was a Sony Xperia phone I had - my first Android phone. It had full blown qwerty keyboard. It was just 2.55 inch display so a small one and as first Android, it was not an impressive smartphone. This was back in 2010/2011 but I loved the hardware keyboard. Loved it.
Sony%20Ericsson-Xperia-X10-mini-pro-380.jpg

This is how it looked. Now with that I was about to type more of course, but it was not for reading for sure with this display.
Unfortunately we no longer have phones like that, I am not for the on screen typing experience so I am using the phone for activities that do not require reading or typing.

Another physical keyboard lover here. I miss my Motorola Droid 1 really bad. I never got used to typing on the screen. Yeah it's improved over the years but... I'll avoid talking on my phone at all costs. I'm in an airport now on my MBP because I refuse to type on my iPhone if I can help it :D.

I use my iPad Air 5 mainly for taking notes in conferences with the Pencil + recording audio when possible. I add in photos + slides in the note using Airdrop from the iPhone to complete the notes. Aside from that, i use it for media consumption sometimes.

I´ve tried to use it for writing articles, but Office is really limited, you cannot even use a reference manager like Mendeley and this tends to break shared documents a bit. As a laptop replacement is really lackluster due to iPadOS.

I enjoy my iPad 10....maybe a bit too much. If there is a downside, it seems that I am just wasting more time doing useless stuff on the iPad and couch surfing. I thought I would spend more time reading, but frankly, I read more when I went to the library and just checked-out a book. I am thinking about putting it in a cupboard for a while and only using it for travel/vacations and as an Auxilary screen when needed. (e.g. Universal Control/Side Car).

To be clear, this is my problem not the iPad's problem. My wife reads a ton of books on her iPad and uses it all of the time for grocery shopping, email, and all kinds of useful stuff. I just might not have the discipline that she has. For some reason, I don't seem to have the same issues with my MBA or iPhone. With those devices, I am less inclined to drop down these procrastination rabbit holes. It's kinda weird. But, it is all on me.

Totally understand you. In fact, it somewhat describes my situation as well.
Haven't touched my iPad in five days now, always on my MBA. Even for couch surfing, I prefer its bigger and upright screen over the iPad.

Exactly this. Could I do most things that I do on my iPad on my iPhone. Absolutely. However I have the choice and prefer to use a bigger screen. Most of the stuff we talk about is a want rather than a need. However if we can then why not.
