Oh my, the battery is soldered to the logic board, no fun.
Yeah. What? Soldered. To. The. Board. Bad bad bad bad.
The battery appears to be the exact same as the iPod Nano. Soldered to the board, but easy solder joints for removing and replacing.

Will you post some details as to what the chips are inside and who the manufacturers are?

The next 6 months will be nothing if not interesting about the future innovation at Apple, or lack thereof.
I don't know anything about hardware stuff, but in that picture at macfixit, the chips seem to be covered in something that looks like asphalt, concealing their identities...
Well, in context , it was a reply about Apple becoming like Sony and not caring about the Macintosh line.Dang!! ...and this is the company who today released, like, the most innovative product. Ever!

Rod.
I wonder if Steve still does think of Mac as his "baby."
I think that Apple is really trying to become the next Sony "style" of company. Computers are not their central focus anymore, as evidenced by their VERY slow updates, lack of new product designs, and software delays.
I do wonder if that voids the waranty?![]()
now if they can show us how to unlock it... i'm set hehe
the site mentioned that the battery was soldered to the case.
no user replaceable battery?
You wait for six months for the product of the century to come out, and what do you do? Yeah, lets take it to bits!
Nope, you have to disassemble the iPhone to reach the battery...
This makes no sense, the only thing you should need to upgrade is to the data package.
As a matter of fact I lowered my minutes because I'm not using that much and they had no problem doing so.
I would wait a couple of days and than try talking to them again.
Good luck.
since it's soldered, you can't replace it even if you take the iphone apart?

Put it all into perspective people. There are people starving in this world and $600 could have done a lot for them. But instead, we see this sort of this happen on the internet. Perhaps they can put it back together in working order...that is fine. But guys at over at thinksecret totally dismantled the thing. What a waste! Do people stop to think of all the time and effort and sweating building these things? I'm talking about the people (low paying Chinese), the factories, and plants polluting our air/water just to make parts for it (battery, silicon, metals and plastic ie.). Just because you have the $600 to pay for it, is it really necessary to take it apart or destroy it? What's next, smashmyipone? Some people need to wake up and understand this is a total waste and should stop consuming recklessly and need to see the bigger picture and take responsibility and respect everything around us. Thank you.

I don't think so.... either you can't or you have to be VERY good what you are trying to do to even attempt it. I think people will end up giving it to apple to replace anyway...
