After trying several times with iJailbreak, I'm simply going to wait until there is a real Installer upgrade option like the "Official 1.1.3 upgrade". I don't see much of a reason to upgrade to 1.1.4 anyway, although I like to have the newest software.

I guess I'll just wait.

What's the catch?

Nobody has answered ViP3r's question: is it another soft upgrade or a real jailbreak of the 1.1.4 firmware?

And does it leave leftover stuff that takes a big chunk of disk space?

Thanks.

Never mind my question. It suddenly appears that the future lies with iPwner and IPSW Builder from the DevTeam and not with these older approaches.

iJailbreak is a Macintosh Only application. So it will not work on Windows. For an easy JB on Windows, try downloading ZiPhone 2.5c from http://www.ziphone.org - get the windows version.

But only use ZiPhone with an 8GB iPhone or iPod Touch, 16GB and 32GB are not supported just yet.

Post back on how the Jailbreak went. I hope it works for you.

I tried to download the Ziphone for Windows from http://www.ziphone.org but nothing happens when I click on the link for downloading. Am I the only one with this problem? Where else can I get the version for Windows?

im about to try to to this to my 8GB iPod Touch w/ 1.1.4 and the Jan. Software upgrade. it should work right?

Here brother, here's how to fix your problem, but not jailbreak

To "unbrick" an iPod Touch or iPhone, use the below instructions:

To restore your iPhone or iPod Touch, hold down the Power and Home buttons on the device until the Apple logo appears on the screen, at which point you can let go of the Power button-- but keep holding the Home button. When you see the "Connect to iTunes" logo appear, you may let go of the Home button, connect your device to your computer, and use iTunes to restore.

it still doesnt work

im doing that and it still doesnt work im thinking about bringing it into a local privately owned apple store in town unless someone can help me here,is it even fixable or did i just loose 450 bucks?

Quit ZiPhone.

While your iPod Touch is plugged in hold down power and home until iTunes recognizes it. Then, restore it.

don't do that here's what to do.

1. Plug your iPod touch into your computer and open iTunes.
2. Turn the iPod on. (it will be looping the error)
3. Hold down both the power button and home button for approximately 7 seconds. The screen will turn off
4. Once the screen turns off, wait 2 seconds and then release the power button while holding the home button.
5. Hold the home button untill iTunes recognizes it. Then follow the iTunes instructions.

Timing is important. Try this a couple of times if it doesn't work before you give up.

Let me know how it goes and if you need any help.

I done think it is possible to totally destroy your iPod with the jailbreak methods. And if so I've never heard of it happening.

....

Ok I did this and it said the jailbreak was sucsessful, but when my Touch turned on it needed restores, do I have to upgrade to 1.1.4?

Also, once the jailbreak is sucsessful, what do I do?
