I got the new imac 27". This just isn't what I thought it would be. :( I just find myself wanting my pc back. I bought it online, arrived today. Could I return it to a apple store, and get my money back?

I hope I dont feel the same way after getting my first iMac.

Yes you can return it but i think it has to be through the online store and shipping. You could probably read info on the site and see....

You've had it less than a day ... wow are you quick to judge.

I recall when I made the switch I doubted my decision the first 2-4 weeks. Then I seemed to get it and am so glad I stuck with it.

Otherwise call Apple, it's no problem returning it up to 14 days.

Do I have to do a system restore or something? I downloaded firefox, and ntfs-3g. Do I just uninstall them? I also upgraded the ram to 16 gb. Can I just put back the 4 gb it came with?

Hmm, well, you'll be able to get your money back if you want it (though you can't just take it to an apple store. Call apple). Regarding you having to do anything to the computer itself, I don't think so. You don't need to uninstall anything. Apple will take care of all of that when they get the thing back. And yes, you can just put the original ram back in.

For information's sake, I am curious about what you don't like about the machine. I switched to mac in 2006 and don't regret it, but it's probably not for everyone. I definitely still use Windows for some things.

You are way too skittish. You have had the machine less than 24 hours. Go to bed and sleep on it. Give it a few days. Lots of help for switchers out there and on here.

FWIW I got 12 different people to switch to Mac and they all love it and wish they'd of done it sooner. No offense to the OP but it sounds like he didn't even try to learn it if he's sending it back the same day.

Agreed. Less than a day is not near enough to find out its differences.

I would recommend against Dell XPS gaming systems. We ordered 60 of those for a client who needed a gaming center set up and every single one died within a month. All had bad ram and over half had bad video cards. Granted thats not normal even for crappy PC manufacturers but for sixty machines to go in a month is pretty rotten odds.

Far out what did you think it was going to be? Research before purchase is always a good idea...go to a store and play around with one..

Anyway $3000..are you in Oz?

Being stubborn is not buyer's remorse. I was just part of an office switching over to Mac and it took at least 2 weeks for everyone to stop bitching about how much they hated their new MBP's. It started the week after the new ones were released and even now some of the women are complaining but they admit that the Mac is a great OS and easy to use now that they understand it.

Giving up now is such a waste. OP, you have an amazing machine and you can't expect to jump into a new system without any practice and be an expert...you have no time on the system/machine but if you really don't see the upsides to the iMac then please return it

I totally sympathize with the predicament. You bought a machine that doesn't fit your needs or wants. I see no problem with Dell or any other PC, even though I prefer Mac for my own computing environment. So, I don't want this to sound like I am questioning you because I disagree with you.

Purely out of curiosity, I am just wondering why it isn't for you. For example, do you feel like you are not getting enough bang for your buck? Are you looking for a portable gaming computer?

The confusing thing (to me) is that the iMac and Dell XPS (a laptop, right?) are apples and oranges. It's like returning a truck for a motorcycle. Not only that, speaking just about Windows laptops, it is a pretty unimpressive machine... What drew you to it?

There are also XPS desktops.

Thanks! OK. I found them on the Dell website. I didn't know they existed. Well, I guess this is more of an apple / apple comparison (so to speak). I don't know what kind of specs the OP's computer had, so I don't know which would be better in terms of "performance" (different standards for different people).

I don't need an iMac (I am overpowered already with my MBP), but I sure would enjoy one! I am still curious about what turned him off of the purchase.

I'm having serious Buyer's remorse

I find gtsgts' posting difficult to accept. Buyer's remorse is one thing. If so, it is not any big deal. :apple:s are certainly not every person's cup of tea. Return the product within two weeks and receive the refund of the purchase price minus box opening fee, shipping etc. Take back your money, purchase your PC, and go on your way. Why the post?

No. You have to return it to Apple. Call them and they will tell you to pack it up/send you a box to send it. Once they receive the machine, they will credit your card.

Don't they credit you as soon as it is shipped?

A friend of mine got an iMac and the screen had an issue they sent him a new know as soon as his was shipped not when they had received it.

No big deal OP had no business buying an iMac.

It seems fine to me if he posts a thread. He bought an iMac. He doesn't like it. He wants to know if he can return it. Of course, the answer is probably easily available online at the Apple site, but maybe he wanted confirmation from people who had actually gone through the process.

I'm still curious about the gap here between what he wanted and what he got.

Yeah .. really, what´s wrong with iMac so that OP decided that it wasn´t for him?

What did he mean. ¨he only like the screen"... i really don´t get it

We can even install Windows natively via BootCamp .. doesn´t that enough for him??

Exactly. It's kind of confusing. Again, I am not criticizing the OP. I just don't understand, and truly would like to know what he found disappointing about the iMac. From my perspective, it is one of the most beautiful machines I have ever seen. It is perplexing...

I haven't seen anyone review it poorly, so I am guessing that what the original poster didn't like was the price---it is an incredibly powerful machine for a rather steep price. That might have been overkill ("it isn't for me") if he just planned to send emails with it. Then again, from what I have read about the XPS specs, that would be overkill too, and no chance to enjoy the Apple OS either :(

I recieved my new 27" Imac 4 days ago, i have been using pc's for over 20 years. and you know what, now im thinking of selling my PC.

In these 4 days i have come to love my mac, if you miss any software or games from your pc, just install bootcamp/windows and plug in your favorite mouse and you got a cool gaming computer again. Boot back in OSX when you are finished plying games. and enjoy the beauty of a mac.

Why the buyers remorse, what are you missing from your pc?
