Mine shipped on the 3rd and left Miami yesterday morning. However I don't think it will be processed today by customs as its a BANK HOLIDAY.

The carrier acts as a broker for customs. It is their responsibility to check and charge appropriately. Don't forget you also pay duties on the shipping charge.

So, an update. I rang Fedex earlier today, and it will be delivered Tomorrow 6th April. I do have to pay VAT which came to 68 quid, but wont have to pay for six weeks. I just cant wait to get my hands on it. Yippie

Where are you guys getting your accessories? I have a 32GB arriving this week (USPS Express International Permitting) but the seller had no iPad docks or cases.

Any good shops (not eBay) doing them? The dock is going for about $70 inc shipping on eBay but will retail for about £21.99 in the UK (probably).

Mines shipping the same way. It left Miami yesterday but I've had no other updates in tracking since then, doing my head in.

What stage is yours at?

£618 for the 16Gb WiFi? That's getting close to the likely UK price of the 64Gb 3G one. What were you thinking??!!

I paid the Apple US Store price for the 64gb [translated to around £500].

Uncle shipped it yesterday by priority mail which was $50 [£33 ish] fully insured.

VAT will be £87.50 although I will be reclaiming this.

There should be no import charges due to the classification of the device.

So I'll be paying around £533 for the 64gb, if I cannot reclaim the VAT I will be paying £620.50 - Either way this should work out cheaper than when released in the UK.

Mine was still in the US as of yesterday evening. The USPS tracking is good but not very up to date. Hopefully it will be here by Friday - its a 3 - 5 service but most people say 3 days to the UK.

I ordered a iPod dock from eBay using 'Best Offer'. Got it for $60 delivered which is a rip off - about £40 but at least I have it. It will likely be £22ish in the UK :-(

How do you figure that?

GRRRRRRRRR

Mines been stopped by Customs at Parcel Force. I phoned them this morning and they said it will take 1 to 15 working days to be checked.

THIS SUCKS!!!! Get's from the USA in less than 24 hours and the god dam UK Postal Service slows it all down......

Ick... What courier did you use?

I hope mine doesn't get stuck..

It was shipped using USPS Express Post, but it seems Parcel Force took over once it landed in the UK

So it's stuck waiting to be checked........

If someone carried a boxed ipad through customs from the States, would they have any problems?

If the _carry_ it, no problems, just go through "something to declare" and pay your VAT and import duties  If you put it into your suitcase and declare it, that would of course be highly illegal but nobody would notice.

Loads of Brits had iPads on the plane yesterday. Everyone carried them through without being checked. Absolutely fine...

I had to pay VAT at 17.5% but no import duty. I'm not fussed, all together I paid £530 for a 16GB iPad, and have it now. I personally think it's worth it. Oh and I'm typing this from my iPad, and it's simply amazing. Shame BBC iPlayer doesn't work on it. ;)

Last week, it took UK Customs THREE days to check a basketball jersey I had ordered!

mine shipped out yesterday .. friend posted it out via USPS Priority International, but he said there was no tracking info!!!

now i'm worried i won't even get the damn thing :(

I managed to get mine sent out via fedex on Saturday i.e. Launch day, they managed to get it delivered to me today so 4 days even though there was a bank holiday in the UK. I think that is amazing. Also it went through customs perfectly fine.
