What about updating to iOS 11 on an iPad Air 2 still running iOS 9 ? (And, yes, I'm kicking myself for missing the boat to update to iOS 10 when I had the chance).

My Air2 and my 6S both run fine on 11.1. I can’t tell the difference from 10.3.3. I never noticed the calculator bug until I read about it on this forum. Everyone’s experience and expectations are different when it comes to updates. The only thing I noticed is on boot up, the Apple screen flashes once before going to the passcode screen. I heard that’s been fixed on 11.2 also.

Battery life is terrible. I find myself having to put the phone on charge twice during the day after an overnight charge. The phone is not that old either i got it after the 7 came out, so a little over a year ago.

I’ve had some wonky battery cycles on iOS 11 that’s for sure. Best on my 6S has been 8 hrs of use (charge lasted 2 days) and worse has been 5 hrs of use. My Air2 has been much better, averaging 11-13 hrs use. I think it will straighten out as we get more updates in the future. I had some crappie battery performance in the first iOS 10 updates too.

I have ios9 on a jailbroken iPhone, and iOS 11 on another iPhone. I can switch between them and not feel like I'm missing anything with ios9. In fact, I'd say I like the old single page control center of iOS 9 more than the one in ios11. I do like having widgets to the far left of the home screen since iOS 10, but not a deal breaker.

Im crossing my fingers and i think ill make the 9 to 11 upgrade today... after a few drinks (so i will relax and not stop myself) :D

Have you been reading the news about Apple intentionally slowing down phones with worn batteries? Right now your phone does not have that "feature", but it will once you update to iOS 11.

I’ve got a new battery in an iPhone 6 with ios11. It’s still laggy.

When is a battery considered to be warn out? Is there some app that could specify its health state so that a user can know if it's iPhone is in that slowing down phase?

Where is it laggy? You gotta give more info on this lagness. And to be frank, I just checked 11 on two friend's iPhones and it seemed fine, so I don't know what your talking about.

A prime example that I showed a friend today--just opening the settings app, a built-in app on the phone--takes a considerable amount of time to open. That's just a single example. You might want to watch your attitude as well. Just because you "checked 11 on two friend's iPhones" doesn't mean that others aren't having issues. I am not the only one, read these forums for plenty of others laggy iOS 11 posts.

Apparently one attitude that needs to be checked is yours, for creating fuss and fear without explaining (i had to ask you to be explanatory about your lagging issue). As for me, i didn't check just one or two cases, many 6S+ users in here, have already stated that they did not notice any difference when updating to 11.
And to put things straight concerning your example... You are most welcome to post a video of your experience and show the people in here why you believe 11 is laggy. Its as simple as that.

Here you have two big reasons:

Apple Confirms 'Meltdown' and 'Spectre' Vulnerabilities Impact All Macs and iOS Devices, Some Fixes Already Released

This will force a redesign of CPUs and operating systems. While not a big news item for consumers, it's huge in the geek world. We'll need to redesign operating systems and how CPUs are made.

Time to patch my boi.

I've never understood this "I'll stick with old versions forever" thing.

Security is the biggest reason to upgrade. Stop delaying! Not installing new updates immediately is always a good idea, but skipping whole major versions is just silly.

What about decreased battery life, performance and bugs introduced in new versions?

Are those two reasons dealt with if one updates to iOS11?

Another vote to stay on iOS9.

Ive only updated one device to 11 (AW3 insisted the paired device was iOS11) and it's a mess.
Theres no way I'm moving the rest of our devices from 10.3.3.

I am on a Apple TV 3 running whatever os it was built for and it runs fine. Why upgrade my TV? Why fix something that is not broken?
