WD My Cloud drives are no longer accessible and my NEAT Scanner no longer functions as there is a communication error when trying to scan. Seems like a lot of things that connect by UBS are having problems. This is utterly ridiculous. I only upgraded to El Capitan because I got the prod from Apple that it was available. I never thought it would render my computer virtually useless for what I do 90% of the time on it. I'm REALLY PISSED!
It appears that NEAT is working on a fix --- http://www.neat.com/helpcenter/neat-mac-el-capitan/
Hmm, I don't think it's hard to believe.Hard to believe some of the snotty, unsympathetic responses to the OP here
Hmm, I don't think it's hard to believe.
If anything set the tone for the type of replies that would come later, it was the snotty, condescending wording used by the OP in his second (and many of his subsequent) replies.
This forum is full of threads that have helpful and sympathetic replies. But generally not when the OP posts stuff like this one did.
IMO, it's kind of amazing that someone took the time in post #8 to do all of the legwork to research the two issues the OP had.
You know, Apple loves to push the "it just works" mantra
Just seemed like someone who was frustrated to me.
You know, Apple loves to push the "it just works" mantra but more and more often, I'm finding they don't have any business making that claim. I've been using Macs since the early 90s and I've never been closer than I am right now to dumping Apple and moving on. There are major issues that have been present in OS X since Mavericks that Apple has not yet fixed. It's getting easy to believe that they've just lost all interest in the Mac. I don't see this kind of insanity happening on iOS.
Furthermore, I don't see it happening in Windows. I just upgraded a 7-year-old laptop at work to Windows 10 and it runs beautifully. I was actually shocked at how good a job Microsoft did. Then I turn to my Mac which has perpetually been hobbled by Yosemite.
I think people have a right to be frustrated by Apple. They're screwing up bad lately.
It was true(ish) several years ago, sadly not any more.
El Capitan is a horrible incompatible mess of beta-quality "fixes and improvements" to things that were working just fine. Major (and rather diverse) issues from the moment I've upgraded. It's probably the buggiest OS X release to date.
Downgraded to Yosemite and couldn't be happier. It's not the perfect OS, but compared to EL Capitan it is super-stable and super-fast.
Also it looks like the crowd of "lulz, u n00b, my Facebook works OK in El Capitan!" OS experts got substantially bigger with this update for some reason. I blame marketing.
P.S. Just discovered that my Magic Trackpad 2 which is with delivery courier at the moment probably will not function properly in Yosemite – because Apple wants me to "upgrade" to 10.11 bugfest.
"It just works" my arse.
