Returned like I’m not getting a new unit?
It's entirely possible, if in new condition. They don't just throw away units which have been returned do they.

No they don’t. They go through a refurbishment process and eventually end up on the online store’s refurbished page. It's entirely possible, if in new condition. They don't just throw away units which have been returned do they.
Well I’d hope they verified why it was returned before just sending it back out. Even then that would make it refurbished. I guess what I don’t know won’t hurt me.It's entirely possible, if in new condition. They don't just throw away units which have been returned do they.
And, despite AMD tech could work on new drivers in partnership with Apple, they will be deployed by Apple through the software update, not on AMD web site.Because Apple is responsible for who it partners with do provide hardware for their premium products. As customers of Apple, we are powerless against AMD.
I've had the same. My thoughts are that you should log a bug so that it's not just me complaining about itMy i7 with the 5500XT arrived last week and since then I've noticed the screen refreshing in "halves" a few times where the left and right side of the display are not synchronized when waking up or going to sleep. Any thoughts on that?
Has someone already tried out with the use of a corded 3th party mouse ? Any difference ?

I'll do that now. Thanks!I've had the same. My thoughts are that you should log a bug so that it's not just me complaining about it
whatever is causing these glitches, it has been substantially more today then before. I just saw 5 with in a minute. And I only have safari open. I am slowly shifting from not-a-big-deal to -w-t-f-.
I completed a 4 hour recording, mixing and mastering session last evening utilizing my new iMac. This session was a rather complicated one with live instrument and vocal recording as well as numerous virtual orchestral instrument tracks. There were also numerous virtual effects utilized. My Mac was pushed very hard over an extended period. It performed flawlessly in every way. Even with the heavy load it was experiencing, the fan noise was mostly low to moderate. No hick-ups were experienced under conditions that would have been too much for my previous iMac. The most important thing is that I still didn’t experience any crashes or video issues of any kind.
That is one major advantage of Apple Silicon for them, they will finally control their Mac platform. Won't end the problems for us though, AMD is not why Catalina kernel panics.

I'm using a corded third party mouse, Roccat Kone Pure. No glitches. I briefly tried to Apple mouse, still no glitches.
They obviously knew about this prior to release.
After passing Apple the video of the line appearing as I was setting up the OS they've recommended I return the machine for a refund or replacement; having the machine back in the factory will also help them to identify the issue.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE WHITE LINE OF DOOM IS HAPPENING TO EVERYONE WITH THE 5700XT. IN THIS FORUM ALONE, WE HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS PEOPLE RETURN THEIR IMACS AND THE REPLACEMENT IMACS HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. SO TO CLASSIFY THIS AS "ONLY SOME USER EXPERIENCE" MUST BE WRONG.Just got to setting up my replacement. Did the damn line flicker before I even selected my region from setup screen.
If there were only a handful of users with this White Horizontal Line issue, then how is it that countless people have returned their iMacs and the replacement iMacs have the same exact issue. That's like winning the White Lighting Lottery. Common sense tells us that it's "limited problem" which is only affecting some users, isn't so LIMITED.After passing Apple the video of the line appearing as I was setting up the OS they've recommended I return the machine for a refund or replacement; having the machine back in the factory will also help them to identify the issue.
I understand that worldwide they are selling vast quantities of these per week, mine is the first one the Apple team I deal with have seen with the white line. As I type this 78 people with the 5700XT have the issue on this thread (it's been 78 for a couple of days). Worldwide I guess they'll be thousands with the 5700XT who don't have the issue, have never felt the need to Google it or document any lack of issue by voting here. I think we're in an unlucky minority.
The graphical glitches I've seen, as we far as I understand them, are an irritation not a show stopper. I'm still of the opinion it'll be fixed with an OS or firmware update, but I didn't want to sit on my hands waiting with a expensive new machine that irritates me.
I will be buying another one at some point.
In the meantime.... back to the trusty 2012 cheese grater, High Sierra and a PC Nvidia GPU. Happy days.
