No issues here. I have 4 external SSDs hooked up and 3 spinning disk and all work fine.
Absolutely love my 24" M1 other than the built in speaker system which is definitely a step down in sound quality from the speaker system in the 27" it replaced.
I've actually purchased a second 24" M1 to replace a 2017 21.5" platter drive downstairs which acted as a music server when it wasn't beach-balling or flat out crashing. That 21.5" iMac is the only Apple product I regret purchasing since I've been using their products. Glad they're getting it back as a trade in against my second 24" M1.
Time I suppose is fine, don’t “need” it now but always nice, I haven’t used my MBP in ages, I think I would the iMac as it’s still nice to have a computer as I use my iPad and iPhone so much.If time and trade in is not an issue, is waiting to see what is out next an idea?
I have never bought a computer and viewed it as an asset for value, this will be my first time when the next versions come out but that is cos I will jump ship from this particular one. Looking for the long term option.
Always run them as a tool for the moment. Though reading many comments I seem to be in a minority, probably minority of 1![]()
Agree trade in is always poor, but it’s great convenience that’s the plus. It's a tool to me too. But with trade in you always lose a lot of money. Truth is, I will not need to upgrade from this 24" M1 for years, I will just not bother
Apple for BF last year gave store cards, in Europe like 150€ for an iMac, 27 to 31 November. Not sure if it works with education discount but I think so
So you used your employee discount and also got a Black Friday gift card at same time?I had a good deal some years ago with a a Black Friday event bur it was tied to an employee program. Last few years has been apple only refundable points or cards I think?
Think I mixed and matched. Memory cells are not what they were, ironically iMac and iPads at that time. Might have been the iPad was better deal via Apple as in actual cost was cheaper and the % deal via the company of the iMac was better than what Apple were doing. So you used your employee discount and also got a Black Friday gift card at same time?
It’s just if I’m going to order using edu discount I could get before Xmas, if not and I wait for BF it will be after Xmas, but unsure if will get the BF gift card as well.
Everyone on the planet can order something. Unfortunately, not everyone on the planet can get their item at the same time. Given the current backlog at the shipping ports, I'd say shipping delays are to be more severe this holiday season due to a lack of physical trucks to keep up with the demand.Do Apple deliver over Xmas in UK? I’m taking like in between Xmas and new year? Looks like Black Friday is going to be 26th Nov not sure if Apple only do the actual Friday?
If so dates today are 14-21st Dec so imagine another week will add a week meaning 21-28th maybe.
Encouraging comments still from people currently with it, about it as well, making me very near to ordering.
Don’t forgot the poll on first post to now!
Thanks

I have a Mac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Fusion 1TB with 497gb available.Had mine since beginning of July and I can't fault it - fantastic machine!
Only glitches I've had are a few Monterey bugs (also being experienced by others on various machines), so in no way my iMac's fault...
I maxed mine out with 16GB RAM & 2TB SSD, and I'm glad I did as I can see this machine being in daily use for very many happy years to come. It handles everything I ask of it with ease, though I'm in no way a "power" user.
(I just have to stop myself upgrading to new versions of macOS as soon as they're released... D'oh! ?)
My M1 iMac reports exactly 2TB total disk space. (Only used 178MB so far - 1.82TB free*)I have a Mac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Fusion 1TB with 497gb available.
I was thinking of getting the 24 iMac with 16gb and 1 TB SSD, had not thought about a 2TB. How much available space do you have of the 2TB?
* Before anyone says anything - it'll get used up in time!
Wait, you're not using all that free space? Sorry, couldn't help it![]()
Yes major problem - Im ready to throw it out the window.Just wondering if anyone has any specific problems with the M1 iMac?
I know they are now a few months old just wonder if anyone found any problems on screen, or memory issues, graphic problems etc?
Anything you’ve found it can’t run or struggle with?
Looking to buy one, reading forums doesn’t seem too many problems or have I missed them!
Thinking of getting 16Gb for future proofing.
Thanks

Major memory leakage and drops me off the internet (all browsers and email). To reconnect to net need to restart each time Went with 8 GB RAM and with only email going and word running it runs out.
Only started when upgraded to Monterey. Cant roll back to Big Sur (wont allow me to roll back). Took it to Google store for diagnosis - "nothing wrong with memory cant help you".. they were useless. Given response from Apple PC starting to look good again!
