The iMac Pro has bigger mesh holes in the metal grille to filter the incoming air, which works in conjunction with the intake slots.
The optimum place to drill holes or file a slot on an ordinary iMac 5K is a bit higher than the iMac Pro's slot, because the metal grill is smaller mesh, the new holes/slot needs to feed air through the gap at the back of the filter grille.
The top of the slot would need to be about 2.9cm from the bottom of the iMac case, or the holes would be centred at about 2.75cm up.
This picture shows an iMac Pro's grille, ethernet port above, and the intermittent slot at the back can be seen.
On an iMac 5K, the gaps in the slot at the back are wider (and the grille holes smaller).
The second pic shows an earlier iMac 27" case, and the 2020 case has larger grille holes.
If the 2020 case has the black metal grille adhesive strip running across behind the grille, you need to avoid drilling holes through that, putting them below.
The new holes need to be positioned just below the grille.
